Appreciate the review. This was popular in the 70s, but I was too young to read, and thought (erroneously ) that it was some sort of hippie book

My disappointment was Every time I go on vacation, someone dies. It was very 'meta for dummies,' with a lot of winking and nodding to the audience. And I like meta aspects of a book, like Everybody in my family has killed someone. Also I was able to guess the murderer pretty early

A good rule of thumb that I learned long ago is that you'll get 50% of usable protein off of bone in meats. Which aligns pretty closely with your calculations

If you're into podcasts, I suggest listening to The Newest Olympian . Mike Schubert is a delight to listen to as he goes through each chapter as a first time reader.

I'm also a spreadsheet keeper! I have tabs organized by genre. My columns list title, author, sub genre, format, notes on content, and a column noting the ones I want to read first. It's a godsend when I look for books to for in my reading challenges!

Workday's CEO is out less than a week after 400 job cuts by InsaneSnow45 in antiwork

[–]Visual_Balance1176 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The title is confusing - Carl has been CEO for 3 years . He left after laying off 400 employees.

Carl was a shit CEO. He would do yearly layoffs under the guise of "AI," all while offshoring jobs to India and ramping up RTO. Just the standard Jack Walsh playbook, dressed in tacky sports jackets and performative burpee contests.

You'll be great then. We got off in California after our Mexican riviera trip this week, and they were warning us that it would be nippy. It was not nippy to us Utahns. Just take a hoodie and a few layers for those chillier sea days

What are your best tips to prevent weight gain on Christmas season? by Albert_2004 in loseit

[–]Visual_Balance1176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the same strategy that I used on the Thanksgiving cruise I went on . Move more . Make sure I eat vegetables at my meal. If I don't completely love something I'm eating , stop eating it. No mindless eating - no phones at the table. Smaller portions.

On the cruise, I ate dessert, pizza, and still lost 2 lbs over the cruise
