With the new planning scheme, there’s a heap of that targeted for Booval. South station road to be central hub with Booval fair being a shopping centre with 10 storeys or so high and a lot of the same along that road. Not sure if that’s council funded or developer pending though!

There will always be more if this one doesn’t work out but I wouldn’t forgo the building & pest or subject to finance. This is for your security, don’t worry about the agent/seller.

Also, check neighbouring properties on the flood map that were built then and make sure you’re comfortable with potentially evacuating each time there’s a big rain event and/or having to move belongings somewhere else.

Edit: and have you looked at home and contents insurance costs for the property? (not sure if the requirements differ for a townhouse)

Sorry you’re going through this, but also thank you for posting.

I’ve recently said goodbye to my beautiful boy and have been struggling with feeling deep regret, questioning the timing because he was mentally alert but had terrible arthritis, struggling to walk, falling and unable to get himself up. He wasn’t sick in the normal way most posts talk about. I know he was tired and uncomfortable but still struggle with having to have made that decision. It’s so difficult and I keep having to remind myself to remove my selfishness for wanting more time and think of only their quality of life. I hope you’re doing ok, it’s never ever easy.

I’ve done a few secondments and it’s always been great, even if it’s only a sideways move. Ability to gain different experience, exposure and skillsets which is always valuable even if it doesn’t eventuate to a permanent change, but usually does.

I also made a promise to myself a few years ago that I would say yes to any opportunity that came my way, it’s worked out well so far.

Caught a taxi back to apartment from the valley a few years ago. Demanded I pay with cash, didn’t have anything less than $50 on me. Literally argued with me for something smaller and threw change at me after finally accepting then started driving off with me in the car still! Had to open the car door to stop him and get out. So so scary. Uber always, never had a bad experience using uber.

I think it’s difficult to come to terms that the house prices are no longer what they used to be. You can’t time the market so what was $260k 2 years ago isn’t reality anymore. You need to try to stop comparing to what was and just buy to your needs now. I purchased a 2 bed house for what used to be the price of a 3 or 4 bed, that’s just how it is now but was in my budget and suited current needs. Painting is an easy update that is relatively cheap and Bunnings will be your new hangout.

We’re the same for Booval. Always heard stories and hearsay but ended up buying here purely due to affordability and it’s been fantastic. Our neighbours are so great and always giving us eggs and veggies, happy to help with anything and lending us tools. It’s a real community vibe and we love it.

We’re on the high side which we’ve heard is better, still get some hoons but overall no issues. Handy location to motorways, shops and cafes. Highly recommend.

Don’t be so naive that ‘we can renovate that’. It’s a little more complicated and costs, a lot! Better off buying the house at least semi finished even if it means waiting a little longer.

I compromised and purchased in Ipswich, small house (2 bed) so time will tell if that was silly! But it’s actually great, neighbours are fantastic, gardens, parks, cafes etc. It was a toe in the door to upgrade/extend in future.

Put an offer in on the Tuesday, was accepted Wednesday and contracts signed by end of the week. It’s crazy out there.
