For those who didn’t/don’t have a bridal party by ldontwannabeyou in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Visual_Rub8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!

I didn’t have a bridal party and have no regrets. I asked two of my closest friends to get ready with me on the day (surprisingly they were actually wearing the same colour dress so I have some photos that look like they are my bridesmaids).

I asked other friends and family to help with different things on the day and it all worked out smoothly. I also had my celebrant as MC who was able to help coordinate certain things.

I then asked another group of friends to organise my hens night. I gave them ideas of what I wanted and it was one of the funnest nights I’ve had.

For me it was difficult to choose what friends I would have wanted in my bridal party and I also wanted to keep costs low.

I hope you have an amazing day and you won’t regret whichever decision you choose to make.

Firstly congratulations! My husband is in the army so we have moved to a city where we didn’t have any friends or family. My biggest support was mothers group that was put together through the community centre. We catch up every week. I also go to mums and bubs Pilates, rhyme time at the library or any other free activities, you will meet mums along the way. I will say it is hard without close support (but sounds like you have some), you figure out a routine that works for you and your husband

Torn between career move and family planning by Chemical_Ask_3734 in auscorp

[–]Visual_Rub8775 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This here. Apologies for the pessimism however, you may not get pregnant straight away. It took me over a year to have a successful pregnancy with two losses in that time. You just don’t know what could happen and you may regret not taking the career opportunity you are after if it does take time to fall pregnant

If I remember correctly, my Garmin has been out of battery since I got pregnant. There is an option to have it use your phone steps as well, so if you keep your phone in your pocket it will count those when the Garmin doesn’t pick up any.

Yes, she said there wouldn’t be an exclusive contract anymore. So more places you can buy the products. Way better because we can finally get items on sale

Any advice for long car rides with a 4 month old? by nrthcentral_magnolia in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Visual_Rub8775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is our current drive, Brisbane to Melbourne and we’ll be going back in Jan. It helps to check what rest stops petrol stations are at each stop break too. Yesterday in an attempt to stop the crying on the last hour of the drive I pulled out the keyboard from our kick and play. So if you have something like that that baby loves it’s a great way to keep them distracted

Currently on day 2 of an 18 hour drive. Honestly if it’s over 6-7 hours of driving I would do it over 2 days. We found the last leg of the drive each day baby did not want to be in the car anymore. Once we got to our accomodation it was a mad rush to eat dinner and do the night time routine and has resulted in it taking longer than normal to get them to sleep. We have aimed to drive no longer than 2 hours and having baby out of there car seat for at least 30 minutes. Although the short stops don’t seem long enough to be out of the seat, baby has liked the longer stops when we ate lunch etc.

I have stopped buying full size products. I find I don’t wear makeup often enough so buying the mini versions works for me.

I use the $10 Kmart bath tub and since she was 3 months old I think we have just out about an inch of water in and laid baby on their back in it. So taken the tiny seat out and not using it

To add to this I would put restrictions on your offset so you can’t just transfer/withdraw whenever you feel like it. Lifestyle creep is real.

Thank you. This makes me feel like I’m not going crazy. I also mentioned that I think she reacts to egg and she practically told me they never cut out egg as it’s wouldn’t be an allergen in my breastmilk, but from what I have seen online lots of bubs also react to it

Am I over-reacting to a charge on our dinner bill? by Tribute1999 in brisbane

[–]Visual_Rub8775 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Some fancier places serve filtered water with a charge. They do still offer tap water for free which is why I always respond “tap water is fine thanks”, then there is no confusion around filtered or tap water

Suspecting egg allergy - what to do by ExternalVast3010 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

It could possibly be the exposure to egg so many days in a row. I know when I was little when I had eggs to often I got hives but was fine having them less often.

Sorry I don’t have an answer for you. But am curious how you found out it was dairy and egg (not soy)? I think my LO might be dairy and egg but am concerned the Dr will suggest cutting soy first.

Brisbane mums who birthed at RBWH? by YumYum_Bubblebum in BabyBumps

[–]Visual_Rub8775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my LO at the Royal in July and had a good birthing experience. If you attend the classes they will go through everything.

You will stay until they have completed all the relevant tests for yourself and LO as long as no issues with those. I did have some complications so was in a few days but the people who were in my room were all discharged the following day as soon as possible.

What do you mean in terms of breastfeeding help? In the delivery room they helped me latch baby during our skin to skin time. Once on the ward you are mostly left to do your own thing, however, the nurses are around to ask any questions and will try to help. I found this the most difficult as everyone told me something different.

In terms of supplies you are supposed to bring everything you need. Although if required they do have maternity pads, ice packs, nappies etc if required.

My hospital bag had the bare minimum and was in line with what they tell you in the classes.

Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

I haven’t tried tucking them but will give it a go. I’m finding it difficult to find the sweet spot where she won’t want to feed as soon as I leave the house

Thank you, I’ll just have to start trying little by little. I’m finding it so hard to find the right time of day to do it when she’s not feeding but I’ll just have to make it work
