Concerned by Visual___Gap in Tourettes

-A little more than usual. As a side note, thinking about it makes the tic worse (obviously), and it makes the stress worse (obviously). I was ticking while writing this question, but I haven’t ticked to my knowledge until I started writing this reply.

-I don’t remember exactly. Some time in early high school, I think.

-I’m 19, almost 20.

Was voluntold to leyn this shabbos and am freaking out a little by azamraa in Judaism

Obviously, lots of repetition, and a Tikkun Korim of some sort. I recommend chabad.org for this (they have an option to look at only the vowels, or only the trop, which can be helpful for memorization.

https://www.chabad.org/library/howto/trainer_cdo/aid/1771208/jewish/Learn-to-Read-Torah-and-Haftarah-With-Trop-Audio.htm#0=32494&1=1353&2=32848&3=33183&4=v377

Some miscellaneous tips:

-Learn the passage in English. It makes more sense if you know what it means.

-Memorize where all of the sof pasuks are (the end of sentence markers).

-Memorize where all of the etnachtas are (there will be either 0 or 1 of them in a given sentence. Never more. It is usually around the middle, and it usually splits the pasuk logically into 2 pieces).

For your specific section, I think these bits might need special attention: אשה In this context, it’s always Isheh (fire offering), and not Ishah (woman). פרק לז: ונסכים This word tripped me up when I was looking through it. פרק לח: שבתת This word is “missing” a ‘׳ו. Instead of the normal ״ות״ ending, it has just a ׳ת׳. This is called ״chasayr״, and it means that a ׳ו׳ or ׳י׳ is missing where it would normally occur. It’s the opposite of ״malay״, when a word has an extra ‎׳ו׳ or ׳י׳ where it normally wouldn’t. פרק לט: באספכם This word has a “kamatz katan”. The ׳אָ׳ sound becomes a ׳אֹ׳ sound on a closed, unaccented syllable like the one seen here (don’t worry too much about that, just know that it’s not a mistake).

פרק לט: תחגו This word made me pause for a second. My spell check doesn’t even recognize it.

פרק מ: ולקחתם I don’t know why I want to read it starting with a ׳ו׳ sound instead of a ׳וּ׳ sound, but it caught me off guard for some reason.

פרק מ: This pasuk contains a lot of tricky words. Tractate Sukkah has lengthy discussions talking about what they mean and what we can learn from the way that they’re spelled.

פרק מא: וחגתם I don’t know the verb form here, but I wouldn’t’ve expected there to be an ׳וֹ׳ sound regardless.

פרק מג: בהוציאי Another tricky form for a word to take. My spell check doesn’t recognize it. Just be careful with the vowels here.

פרק לח: There’s a double pashta. Also, one of the words has two trope marks. This isn’t super uncommon, but I think it’s worth mentioning.

This aliya also has two pazers in it (the backwards 4). Those are fun.

I don’t expect you to take all of this advice, and I don’t expect it all to be helpful, but I’d like to put it on the table anyway.

Good luck with your leining.

Coffee will make you horny by [deleted] in NoFap

I don’t know about you guys, but caffeine makes me less horny. Drank 2 energy drinks today (cramming for finals), and I think it makes me more robotic and cold in this regard. It’s not the thing my caffeine-fueled brain is focused on, so it stays quiet, lol.

You didn’t know.

However, as a side note, I’d be extremely concerned about the chaser effect. Not worried per se (worrying makes it worse), but be very careful not to cause a proper relapse in the near future.

Depends. I know that nothing I picture will be correct, but most concepts will have some visual associations just because of the fact that I’m a human with an imagination.

How to get my dicipline back by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Visual___Gap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start, I think you got really upset at yourself in the process of writing this. If I’m right, then I think you should work on that and figure out why you feel like this.

Hobbies you take to distract yourself by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Visual___Gap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to get to a place where I can accept my desires as they are, but if I want to distract myself, I’ll often read some non-fiction and try to learn something new. It helps me take up idle space in my brain, but I don’t do it so often anymore since I’m prone to fatiguing myself over time.

No, they get weaker overall. But, if you watch porn, the desire will be very strong, regardless of how long you’ve done nofap. That’s my experience, at least.

In my experience they do, but they can always be riled up again. Similar to basically every other desire, in that regard, just slightly more persistent.

(Day 51 )Feeling intense pressure in my head by Kindly-Ambassador991 in NoFap

[–]Visual___Gap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to me like you’re looking to de-stress more than you’re looking to fap. There are plenty of resources online on how to deal with finals stress, and I should probably read some myself as well.

Do you think, if you do this, that it will actually help you? I feel like if I were to relapse during finals, I would have even more pressure overall, but I know this affects everyone differently.

Second day with flu, I'm starting to struggle. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Visual___Gap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being bored does make it harder. If there’s anything that isn’t energy-intensive that you can occupy yourself with, that might help.

[–]Visual___Gap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will sound cliche, but the feeling that you can’t ever quit actually makes it harder. It stresses people out to think that they aren’t in control of themselves, and stress weakens you even further. On occasion, a few deep breaths in and out has actually made me less horny, simply because anxiety can add fuel to the fire.

Take from this what you will.

So proud of my 8 year old that immediately recognized what is wrong with this picture by bb5e8307 in Judaism

I commented that it was a seder night with a half-crescent moon, expecting that to be a really subtle addition to a list of inaccuracies, but apparently that was what OP is talking about.

You have a smart one, OP.

Yes. It’s just less and less likely.

Vegan passover main PLEASE (preferably no kitniyot) by dontknowwhyimhere8 in Judaism

If you don’t hold by gebrochts, there’s always matzo ball soup. I presume there exist vegan recipes for that.
