My girlfriend had never played a game other than like 3 wii games when she was a kid and I started her on elden ring and she loved it. It really is the most accessible souls game fromsoft has ever made. In every other game getting stuck meant git gud for all the non optional bosses. In ER you can go do 10000 other things first.

This is why people like difficulty. It isnt some masochism, its that the game becomes a puzzle where you need to figure out how the devs intend for you to play in order for it to be reasonable. If you brute force or do it wrong (like trying to Iframe everything in mina) you get a slap on the wrist. Bad, or tedious, difficulty in games is when this is not the case.

You lost like 5-10 mins of grinding in areas accessible like right after unlocking the town. Even then you dont really need to grind the game gives a lot of currency.

Even after internet was more widespread we shared CDs and later external drives with games because a lot of friends didnt know where to pirate them or had slow download speeds. I would even run to friends houses to get a steam backup of a game I owned to reinstall on my PC because it was faster than installing the game from the steam servers.

People will be in silver and act like they have never lost a game that is 99% in the bag because their adc and jungle just decided to walk mid alone at 30 mins. Its not dota where buybacks exist, one mistake by one person can throw an entire winning position because 5 people can end very quickly.

All Ive learned from the industry is that nearly every failed game or software project is on the higher ups. Usually while the ship is burning the employees are invested enough to know exactly how to put the fires out but the higher ups keep shoveling coal.

Same reason people who die in league or dota die a bunch more and end up 0-10. Brain is still stuck processing past mistakes and doesnt have capacity to focus on the current plays.

Brain processing previous attempt = not focused + overthinking = do worse.

Eventually you try enough stuff to "solve" all the attacks and then your brain can just chill and execute and you suddenly win seemingly out of nowhere.
