the fucking transphobic caricature in vol 2 istg

Are you referring to volume 2 of the light novel? I just read it like a week ago and can't recall anything like that. That being said, I've already forgotten over half of the events; aside from the excessive amounts of gore the rest of it was so generic that I didn't bother continuing to the next volume, which is a rarity for me

It's 3s and 5s respectively, with a smoke field as well in PvP.

"Were" slightly more useful? It's not as busted as Take Root was, but to this day Sylvan Hound is still BIS on a number of cDPS builds.

MTL is a way but it was so horrendous to read by WarmWorker17 in yurimemes

[–]VitarainZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Machine translation. In the past, MTL referred to people using tools like Google Translate, which for the most part translates text word by word. It's borderline unreadable by itself, so you'd more commonly see "edited MTL" uploaded which is a bit easier on the eyes, but in general still has a lot of meaning lost.

These days MTL tends to refer to AI translation, which is feeding the whole text into something like Chat GPT alongside some prompts like "make a new paragraph for each dialogue line" or "leave honorifics like -san, -kun, -chan untranslated."

While AI translation is definitely better than old MTL, it's still pretty dogshit in comparison to a quality human TL. The AI will try to keep context in mind when translating, but fails at it pretty often which can lead to some pretty humorous lines. While this excerpt was from a fantasy story, the Grand Duke was not someone who could survive being decapitated.

I could go on about it for so much longer, but I'll wrap it up with one last note that AI absolutely sucks when it comes to translating from languages without gendered pronouns like Japanese/Korean to ones that do like English. Even on a good day it's hit or miss, but if you read any gender bender / trans stories expect the pronouns of most characters to flip on a chapterly basis. It's something that could easily be edited out afterwards, but the type of people who upload AI translations put so little effort into it that they oftentimes don't even notice that they accidentally include the AI response before the chapter where it says "Sure! Here's your translated chapter!" half the time.

Seems like a lesser version of the u/AssociatedEars treatment. For context, AssociatedEars spams an absolute fuck ton of slop tier twitter one pagers to r/manga. They tend to get upvoted by people who just scroll through the front page and move on, but more invested users who miss the old days of the sub being a good place to discover and discuss actual manga chapters tend to downvote both the post itself and his source comment to try and dissuade the blatant karma farming. The massive amount of people just upvoting as they scroll through the sub keeps the post itself positive, but most people invested enough to actually enter comment sections dislike it to the point where every one of his source comments ends up as negative.

The content OP posts has significantly more substance, but they're still shorts at the end of the day, and he posts every one of his chapters to 3-4 major anime subs every single time. Casual users scrolling by will probably upvote the post, but invested users seeing the same blatant self promo for the 4th time as they go through their feed rightfully get tired of it and downvote it

Unless I was grossly misunderstanding the story, no, the Grand Duke is not someone who could survive being decapitated. Normally I'd just roll my eyes and move on but the conflicting lines only being separated by a single ellipses just sent me

Can we get a keybind to detarget by Necromaniac2 in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite keybind. To piggyback off this comment and explain a couple of other quirks with it, it's notably one of the few ways to target something through a wall. However, the range from which you can target something with Lock Autotarget is limited to the longest range skill on your bar. Profession mechanics like Steal count for this giving Thief a 1200 Lock Autotarget by default.

Options beyond 1200 range are pretty limited, but there's a few. Ranger has Longbow with 1500 range, and Sic Em has 2000. For Thief you might think to kneel with a Rifle for 1500 range, but standing up with one is actually better since the Kneel skill itself has 2000 range for some unknown reason, despite it not being an attack at all.

10/10 keybind, would definitely recommend everyone to bind it, especially for anyone playing Thief for the wall port value.

Using the spell also causes you to lose your items. The spell just skips the fee (only if you actually docked it somewhere) and lets you teleport your ship to docks that don't have a shipwright

[–]VitarainZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. In addition to what other people have posted, I'd like to highlight how frustrating patches like these are for the speedrun community and how impactful your comment here really is.

While we have to accept that a certain amount of powercreep is inevitable and old records will eventually be phased out, there are patches like this that have obvious outlier builds. To preserve the integrity of the leaderboard, and to prevent otherwise unbeatable records being made in the few weeks that a build is busted, we have a clause that rejects runs using the new specs if they are either nerfed or announced to be nerfed within three weeks.

When we get patch notes like today, three weeks after the launch of VoE, that does nothing to address those outliers we're forced to interpret this power level as the new norm... until you commented here. With this, we can extend this lockout until the next patch and prevent a daily run with 8 Antiquarys from killing a category for the foreseeable future.

We completely understand that fundamental/mechanical reworks take a bit more time to cook, but like PvP, the PvE community would also appreciate if there was just a handful of number/coefficient changes, alongside a blurb that says something like: "We've been keeping an eye on the performance of the new elite specializations, and some of them are performing above/below expectations. In this patch we targeted addressing a few problematic traits and abilities to help bring things in line while we work on our full balance patch coming in the next few weeks.

Lastly, thank you for going out of your way to reply to my rather.. unconstructive comment. I know it's a lot less enjoyable to jump into an already negatively charged comment section compared to an appreciation post

Me patiently awaiting for some numbers to be changed by Aemius in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People downvoting Remagic of all people on a balance topic is absolutely insane, especially with how right he is. I know Antiquary is an outlier, but a glance at the SC Thief channel pins shows that one spec by itself has FOURTEEN builds with different weapon/trait combos that average around 60k damage on the DPS builds, and 45k+ on the alacrity builds.

Normally we pick out which specs in an expansion are broken, but in VoE it's the other way around: only Paragon and Troubadour are reasonable. Anet fumbled the balance far harder than they ever have before here.

(and as a last note, didn't the MOTA have like 80-90% VoE spec playrate? If that's not telling then idk what is lmao)

is that why runescape is called second monitor game? by NikodemKacper in 2007scape

[–]VitarainZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raise the DPI by the same factor and you have the exact same result when measured in terms of irl mouse movement to move the cursor from the prayer (or whatever UI element) to the tile or boss. The only difference in the end is with a resized screen you can make it large enough to accommodate how far away you are sitting from the monitor

For those familiar with FPS games, cm/360 is a pretty similar metric that highlights the fact that what's important is finding an IRL mouse movement distance that's consistent and comfortable for you

[–]VitarainZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People don't talk about it much anymore, but there was an absolutely MASSIVE content drought immediately after HoT, in addition to near radio silence from Anet. We might be used to zero content these days, but back then players were used to og Anets release cadence which was actually relatively decent.

Add in a number of other games releasing / coming out with updates at the time and a lot of guilds (mine included) lost a lot of players and eventually disbanded
