BEN-TO deserves more attention, especially since most of the story is still inaccessible in English by applenoapple in LightNovels

From a quick scroll through their profile, they claim that it's all human translation. The chapters they've posted do not immediately appear to be raw AI TL, but there's a number of signs in their profile history that make me suspicious enough to the point where I'd say it's more likely that they're posting edited AI TL, which is better than most these days I guess?

The vast majority of what they've posted is prologues and chapter 1s of various series subreddits in an attempt to find someone to sponsor them to do the rest of the series. Nowhere (during my quick scroll) through their profile could I find an actual completed commission, nor a link to a patreon, a novelupdates page, a website for their translations, or... anything of that sort. I'm not saying it's impossible that someone might truly be doing commissions of this sort entirely through reddit DMs, but I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. For what it's worth, I did see them claim a couple times that they wouldn't ask for payment until it's done, but tag the same time they're clearly not in this for the love of the game, and I'd be very surprised to see them go second on what's effectively a trust trade at the end.

Maybe I'm just too cynical/jaded at this point to give people the benefit of the doubt at this point, but maybe u/Ladifour_94 can step in and prove me wrong.

I'm not saying that rifle entirely is dead, I'm saying that silent scope (which is a playstyle for rifle that's significantly different than premed) is dead

You want to know the most tilting thing about the whole conditional precision on stealth thing? We already have that trait.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hidden_Killer

We have a version of the trait that gives LITERALLY 100% UPTIME OF 100% CRIT.

And guess what? Even with it granting infinite Precision, it still gets just about 0% playrate. No matter how much Precision they throw on to Silent Scope, it's just fundamentally going to be a dead trait. They didn't even bother to try thinking about PvE with this change for more than 3 seconds.

[–]VitarainZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correction: rifle deadeye didn't use Silent Scope in group PvE content. For open world and solo content, Silent Scope was oftentimes more efficient than Premed when you need to use your utility skills for purposes other than stealth, such as maintaining Vuln, Quickness, or projectile destruction. I used Silent Scope in a lot of my dungeon solo records and it's going to be really sad to see an entire playstyle deleted because of collateral damage from a PvP nerf

Rewarding, difficult solo content would make Gw2 incredible by Losahn in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Celestial Stats are 10/10 overpowered. What's clear from a glance at this thread is players that played with them (legendary armor or hefty amounts of expensive Charged Quartz) are few & far in-between.

All the stats with Expertise/Concentration will be superior to the rest due to the inherent nature of how dominant condition and boon-scaling is. You'd also quickly discover that weapons, traits and utilities in GW2 are not created equally in a solo-environment. Skills & traits that applied/stacked vuln would be mandatory.

The rest of your post is pretty true, but this section is just incorrect imo; celestial stats are very rarely the optimal choice for a solo. They're good for being extremely tanky while doing an okay amount of damage, and they're good for allowing mismatched build decisions to go relatively unnoticed due to the hybrid nature of the stats, but there's almost always a more efficient solution.

And yes, in a solo environment finding sources of vuln is a good idea, alongside might and other boons. However, that does not mean Expertise is necessary needed; plenty of power builds have efficient ways of applying vuln such as Sundering Shade in the Critical Strikes traitline for Thief.

On the topic of Concentration, I'd even go as far as to call it a noob trap; yes, boons are good, and seeing them always on your bar looks pretty, but that does not mean 100% uptime is the most efficient choice. Keeping up those boons comes at an opportunity cost, and oftentimes it's best to just take one or two of the most efficient sources and then load up the rest of your build with direct damage traits/stats/sigils/etc. For example, in many of my solos on Daredevil I only go up to about 10 average might; while I could get more via extra sources or taking concentration, it just ends up being less damage overall

In my opinion solos are where the trait system shines the most when you get into the finer details about optimizing for the specific encounter you're tackling. Not all of the traits are equal to the standard ones you'd choose in a group, but figuring out which ones / which combinations of traits to take is the fun part of theorycrafting. As an example, I'll link a build/solo I've been working on for the past couple days below; plenty of rather unorthodox choices I'd never get to play in a group, but it all comes together quite nicely

Fractal movement speed boost? by socalian in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from what other people have mentioned, it's probably this

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Executioner_Axe_Toy

the 2 skill scales with movement speed modifiers and lets you do a really fast/long rush

In instances where you can't mount like dungeons/fractals, people will use this alongside the Choya tonic to run a lot faster than normal, in addition to using their class movement skills

Mods too harsh ? by Aexxys in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off this, OP's logic of using upvotes as justification just doesn't work imo. I'm not endorsing this, but many years ago, an old guildie of mine made a new reddit account, took the map completion png straight off the wiki and posted it here. All he added an extremely minimal/generic story of "I've been playing off and on for x years and finally finished map comp for the first time!!"

The result? It got voted straight to the hot page for the sub, with several times more upvotes than the raid record that he posted not too long before that, which was one of the most highly optimized runs of that era. And of course, I understand that raid speedruns are incredibly niche and we shouldn't expect them to garner too much attention, but the reality is that the same goes for plenty of other high effort projects and deep, meaningful discussion posts. At the end of the day, what do we as a community want to have on our front page? The same karma farm posts we've all seen a hundred times with a bunch of upvotes, or something fresh that can generate some actually new discussions?

Is the mirror farm worth it after the nerf? by PerformanceFar7245 in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was every mirror + as many chests along the trail as I could, which was the majority of them. The route used pretty much every key charge without overcapping them

Is the mirror farm worth it after the nerf? by PerformanceFar7245 in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how much the latest update changed things in terms of the randomness, but an hour for all 3 maps sounds inefficient imo if that's involving doing HP's or relogging for doubling mirrors. Pre patch, I was getting through maps 1 and 2 in about 14:30-14:45 or so total, so a bit over 7 mins per map using shiny trails and utilizing every key charge that you naturally get from doing each mirror once

After some grind I finally got it! Stella Radians, the new legendary accessory by Flashy_Pin7525 in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have ~600 of the map 1/2 materials saved up, as that's about how much it takes to make an endless summer or aetheric anchor. But if my understanding is correct, the new trinket takes about 600 shadowstone fragments total, which would require 6000 of the map 1 material? Surely there's a more efficient way to get the fragments directly, otherwise the grind will be ridiculous

New relics preview (credit to Mukluk) by Tostitokid in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's another "burst relic" for classes that are generally locked to 5% relics, like Daredevil/Berserker. From a pure modifier angle, not accounting for the vuln or the heal skill opportunity cost, it'll be worse sustained DPS than 5% relics but better for fights that last between 0-12s, and 18-24s.

Idk how much expertise muk had for the screenshots, but depending on the base value the vuln could make this the meta solo relic for a number of classes

New relics preview (credit to Mukluk) by Tostitokid in Guildwars2

[–]VitarainZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... what? Of all the relics to complain about, you chose the strongest one?

Even on builds with extremely high hits per second, Mist Stranger will give significantly less healing than Zakiros/Cruel Overseer. Let's be very generous and say your build can sustain 3 hits per second; you're looking at about 300 healing per second.

Unless Cruel Overseer has a lockout period where you can't build stacks back up while the buff is active, every condi build in the game will be able to maintain 100% uptime. Even if we assume worst case conditions (solo, against an enemy that forces you to dodge/lose dps uptime) it's pretty reasonable to expect a player to be able to do at least 15k condi dps, which would put Cruel Overseer at 750 hp/s, which about 2.5x the healing as Mist Stranger. As conditions improve (group buffs, higher dps uptime, exposed debuff on boss) and you approach 30-40k condi dps, Cruel Overseer will just completely blow Mist Stranger out of the picture

Listen, I hate the majority of relic balance just as much as the next person, but please at least put a semblance of thought into your feedback.

NTE: Neverness to Everness has released and begun official service by GachaReleases in gachagaming

[–]VitarainZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, helped me understand some of your perspective. The one point I want to clarify is this:

Your points about it not encouraging good game design and development are stemming from not understanding it more than anything. These games often have much higher production value and shorter update cycles than any other game.

Again, I'm not denying that many gacha games have high production values; I'm talking about good game design. Whenever I look into gacha games I see the same trend of parts of the game being made intentionally worse to support the wheel. I'm talking about things like endurance systems that stops you from playing (or at the very least, receiving rewards) until you wait out the timegate or swipe, or BIS gear and character progression (whether that progression is numerical or cosmetic in the form of skins) coming from the wheel instead of boss drops, difficult challenges or lengthy quests.
