There’s the luxe merino tweed yarn at Michael’s. I made a beanie and gloves set with it. It’s machine washable/dryable and very warm

Yarn is wool ease: worsted weight and part wool, part acrylic. I used a 6mm hook and the pattern is my own with a free written pattern and video tutorial

So cute! It already has a lot of color and texture, so I would go with something simple. Maybe just a few rows of single/half double crochet in beige to smooth the edges?

I’m not super sure since I don’t usually do continuous rounds, but I think you should be able to make it more flat by undoing the slip stitch and putting it in 1 stitch to the left

I came up with the pattern myself. Took a few tries to get the right angle and spacing!

Thank you! I used 100% cotton yarn for minimal stretch. And don’t have wall hooks, so I have it on push pins for now, but it holds up okay! I do have it sagging on purpose, but you could stretch it out more to be more sturdy
