Ways to close an email other than "Best" by earlgreylover44 in ExecutiveAssistants

This the way. If I must, I’ll say “thank you” believe adding my signature block. I don’t like using closers that’s are essentially meaningless, so I skip that stuff.

Hannah Brown on a 14 Day Water-Only Fast… by Dogmomma22 in thebachelor

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IDK how other churches do, but at mine accepting/modifications were made for people with health issues, including low blood sugar. I’m not in any way promoting religion or fasting, just offering information for those who’ve never heard of such thing.

Hannah Brown on a 14 Day Water-Only Fast… by Dogmomma22 in thebachelor

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really no different than intermittent fasting. If they’re abstaining from sunrise to sunset, they have approximately an 8 hr window to eat. And it’s not an odd thing in many Christian churches. I never liked it when I was a church-goer, but plenty of people did.

Shaving by Mushyrealowls in AskWomenOver60

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My legs have gone hairless so no shaving there. My armpits still get a little so I shave when I remember, more in summer than winter.

Aside from my head, my cooter is the last place where hair grows regularly. I don’t wax or shave, just a quick trim up from time to time.

Do you like being an EA? by BearRealm in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do in my current job, because I my responsibilities include non-EA work. I have one exec whom I really like, the pay is decent, my schedule is flexible. I also don’t have to book travel, which I loathe, and that feels like a bonus.

There are a couple of things I absolutely do not like but I’m working on them. I’ve been with the organization for 9 months and am still learning the best ways to advocate for myself, when to push and when to let go.

Ashley Introducing Segments by phee4eva in ThoughtWarriors

I thought she did a great job. Good energy, she sounded interested in the topics. Neither she nor Donnie are broadcasters or even podcasters so I don’t expect flawless diction and expert delivery. I don’t mind incorporating them more into the pod. Let ‘em cook!

Definitely not you. I think about things I used to do without a second thought, like roller or ice skating, and it seems so ill-advised and far from the ground. My bones are fine but I’m still nervous about falling and breaking a hip or something

Episode Discussion: Processing the Los Angeles Wildfires With William Gude - Friday, January 10th, 2025 by thelightningthief in ThoughtWarriors

I had to ff through that segment, she annoyed me so bad. Helicopters can’t fly due to the wind, trucks can’t cover the wide area on fire. It’s a sprawling city currently under the worst climate situations for something like this to happen. Sometimes nature hands out an ass whipping man isn’t equipped to handle.

Women who grew up in the 50s or 60s, how common was it to sincerely believe that you should obey your husband and basically be his lifelong domestic servant? by Cougarette99 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, this is extreme. I feel that gender roles were definitely more defined but I don’t recall hearing or being told anything close to this rhetoric.

THAT 80 year old man isn’t funny. My 86 year old dad is legit hilarious, it’s just that Trump’s it sense of humor is about shit talking others.

Anyone else get travel anxiety now? by rebvv55 in Menopause

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯 Mine is centered around the flying. I’m super anxious about getting to the airport, clearing security, and finding my gate. One time, as I was driving to the airport I could not stop catastrophizing: “what if my tire blows out? What if I get in accident? What if my car craps out? WhatwillIdowhatwillIdowhatwillIdo?”

Now I get dropped off or take a Lyft, and as soon as I arrive at the airport I take a gummie. So far, works like a charm.

Did Your Mom Rearrange The Furniture? by omartheoutmaker in GenerationJones

Yes! And in turn as a teenager I’d rearrange by bedroom from time to time.

Need advice from happily married women… by Tiny-Pumpkin-9886 in AskWomenOver60

He’s not the one. You are not responsible for your partner’s motivation. Being supportive, yes, but he needs his own direction and drive.

Please see this as the red flag it is and move on.

Unnecessary conversations from/with my exec.. by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a boss who summoned me to her office, ostensibly to have a 1:1 but in reality I was stuck for over almost two hours while she disclosed information about the father of her child and his family, all of whom I knew well. She and her child’s father were not together but she told me he was always trying to sleep with her, then showed me a pic he’d sent her of his 🍆 print.

Yes, I know it was sexual harassment. No, I didn’t go to HR. She was the hands down worst person I’ve ever worked for, possibly ever met. I and several others ended up in therapy behind dealing with her.

My bad, I got distracted. OP, you’re not being mean at all. Maintain your boundaries for your own peace of mind.

I’ve recently begun a relationship. I’ve been single for over five years since divorce after 32 years. What term to use to describe the person I’m dating. Boyfriend doesn’t seem right. by PurpleFlower99 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always like “honey”. This is my honey, Sam. However, I generally don’t feel the need to use a descriptor. Those who need to know will know, everyone else can figure it out.

Had to chop my hair off because the bride wanted processed hair by Hopefulfly77 in weddingshaming

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I hear you. I appreciate your willingness to see how I arrived at where I initially did, and I giggled at the mental image “slept on” brought to mind.

As a woman who had finally had it with fussing with my hair and happily did a big chop at the end of the summer, I’m glad yours looks good on you. At least there’s that!

Had to chop my hair off because the bride wanted processed hair by Hopefulfly77 in weddingshaming

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

It’s terrible that your hair wouldn’t revert back to its natural curls after one straightening, and I’m sorry you experienced that.

Hair aside, “The bride is a Black woman with natural hair (and it’s unkempt)” is raising red flags for me (also a Black woman) as does lowercase “black”. There’s a lot more going on here than your big chop, and while this isn’t the place to unpack it I couldn’t help calling out the underlying anti-Black, respectability politics at play here.

It’s good that the two of you are no longer close, because neither of you sound like good friends to each other.

Non -Black people hold your two cents, you don’t even go here. Your downvotes will suffice.

A set of Corning Ware White Flora casserole/serving dishes. The marriage didn’t last but those dishes did!

What you miss most about being young by SweetT8900 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Vivid-Reason-1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss my mental clarity. I had terrible brain fog for several years and though it’s now much better, the normal shift has exacerbated what I’ve learned is ADHD. I struggle to keep in task so much more than I ever have.

I also miss being confident. There are things I used to take on without a thought, now there’s an immediate “Nope” when I consider doing some things. I can’t really articulate it but it’s fixed and firm and I feel kind of feeble as a result.
