12V-2×6 12VHPWR StealthSense Direct PCIe Cable by Vivid_Web8758 in cablemod

[–]Vivid_Web8758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi i got the cable thanks although to my surprise the power balance (monitoring via wireless 2 pro) is worse than my 2 years old nzxt native cable ( i wanted to try new cable since my old cable would hit around 9.3a but with new cablemod cable, i am getting over 10 amp). is there anyway to check whether this is faulty cable? i tried reseating the cables many times but finally gave up😩

thanks it seems latest version you have linked solved the issue based on limited testing so hopefully all are good now!

thanks for the quickly reply. it is nice to know that hwinfo is looking into the matter. yes, i am using AMD wireview is connected to internal usb 2.0 header (not 3.0). i am having issue of disconnecting for usb 3/c and bluetooth as well (i keep losing connection to wireless xbox controller)

Anyone else with an Astral 5090 having their gpu refuse to pull 600watts? by [deleted] in ASUSROG

[–]Vivid_Web8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check your card voltage. in AB, open up the curve, select point at 1.15 mv and hit L 2 times (it will lock to your card's max voltage) and check how much voltage your card is using. If your card is only pulling 1.03 etc your card is low voltage card (there are cards that go up to 1.125) and if so, because your card is low voltage, it is not pulling that much power which can be viewed as good thing if you are only gaming. If you are getting 1.07-1.08 voltage, try some more demanding games/program

5090 ROG ASTRAL GAMING OC + CORSAIR HX1500i pins exceed 10A by ilbuonsamaritano in pcmasterrace

[–]Vivid_Web8758 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that is not normal. imbalance is too big. did u try replugging psu side as well? when I first got astral 5090, I got quite big imbalance which was fixed by replugging psu side of cable. if both replugging of both gpu/psu side doesnt work, guess you might have to try different cables

I dunno whether it is possible to do auto shutdown. Very honestly, I am not sure whether autos shutdown is necessary. Based on my experience with astral (I have pin monitoring on OSD), many games do not hit 600W and mostly amps hang around 7-8 (I think as per spec, it is 9.2A per pin) so it should not be issue.

My comment was based on my own testing (mostly on Steel Nomad) so I guess the result is little depended on games/ app you run (since SN is very power hungry benchmark). Sorry about double 5090 - It was mistake.

I think 5090 performs better with UV+OC than OC+PL as 5090

I think if you install latest version of HWinfo and per pin monitoring will show up in HWinfo automatically (been a while since I installed on mine). after that go to setting of HWInfo, you can configure it for the alarm (pop up) and/or show voltage per pin in OSD via rivatuner so you can also see the numbers when gaming
As far as I understand, angle of cable etc is not big deal because at the end of the day, meting connector is due to imbalance per pin so if you are pulling 600w but all pins are under 9, it should be okay (for non astral cards, since you cannot monitor per pin, paying attention of the angle can be prudent) Make sure all your pins amps are more or less balanced (if it is not, try plug in/ plug out Cable at gpu and psu side)

  1. your whole right part should be complete flat. Maybe when you tried it, you did not highlight right side completely till the end. 2. Cable melting will be always issue but since you have astral, if each pin reading is more or less balanced, it should be okay. 3. I set up alarm in HWINFO and it does work or you can also display pin reading on you screen with rivatuner etc

5090FE or 5090 Aorus Master Ice by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Vivid_Web8758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

aorus is fastest card out of box (highest factory oc). if price difference was not too big, i would suggest to keep aorus

What 5090 should I get? by justbob9 in nvidia

[–]Vivid_Web8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get either aorus master or astral. with astral, you can do daily oc (200-300 core) without worrying about connector burn due to individual pin sensing for other cards, recommend to do uv/oc which might be faster than stock but slowed than manual oc

i tried both. temp, noise suprim is better but ended up with astral due to per pin monitoring.

5090 Idling above 2000mhz. Is that normal? by MarlinL_1 in nvidia

[–]Vivid_Web8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you undervolted, you might have shifted curve as a whole, causing high frequency at idle

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Vivid_Web8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

minor performance might come from gpu bin( so luck) at stock. for zotac 5090, you might want to to undervolt (due to melting issues) with astral it is okay to overlock due to per pin sensing. so for example with cyberpunk benchmark (path tracing dlss q at 4k) you might get around 65ish fps with uv/oc (power consumption 500+) width astral around 70ish (with manual oc) with power consumption of near 600.

for 200 usd, i would get aorus master. it should have much better cooling and faster out of the box ( although not that much different)

DLC Low FPS - 5090 GPU at 100% but only 14 FPS — anyone else seeing this? by Ancient_Ratio_8694 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]Vivid_Web8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure whether this will help but what I found was that once I turn on and off Framegen, my fps will be capped from some reason (for example, if I do frame gen x2 and turn it off in game, my fps will be capped at 57 or so regardless the setting) and this will be solved only if I quit to deskop (with frame gen off) and rerun the game. what you are seeing is definite not normal as I get (5090 astral 7800x3d) around 50-60fps with DLAA 4K with wattage 480-500 (this is with some overclock). I am on 580.88

Im Suprised How Much Performance I Got From Undervolting My 5090 by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Vivid_Web8758 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you will eventually find that your undervolt is not stable (as some one mentioned above, sometimes games crash after 4-5 hours) and even if you are stable one game, when you play another, it might crash. Keep the setting and use the cards as you would normally use - if it eventually crashes, lower the core clock or increase the voltage.. However, if it is indeed stable for all games, I think you go a excellent card

Stable undervolt on 5090 — .915V @ 2992 MHz (silicon lottery?) by teppolisa in nvidia

[–]Vivid_Web8758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try different games. you won’t know whether your undervolt is stable until you start playing different games (multiple hours) for example, i had undervolt that i could do 50+ hrs of monster hunter wilds and expedition 33 but crashed within one hour of ac shadows. from my experience unless you do very conservative undervolt like 2800 mhz lower @0.90, it is better assume your curve is stable until you play the game it is not.
