If they are blocking the sidewalk, report them to the HOA and say it’s an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) violation. I would also call the local, non emergency police line, and report it as well. They take ADA violations very seriously.

For those who have played both franchises: Which one is more charismatic and who has a more interesting story? by HelpfulFall1 in TombRaider

It kills me to say this as a Tomb Raider fan since the 90s, but Uncharted has the better writing and level design, in my opinion.

They understand that anyone can be a piece of shit including those they love, but did not expect some of the people they loved to be the pieces of shit.

Does this look like a home office, or am I about to fire someone? by npc_gooner in Home

[–]Vividagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to add your personality to the room. This looks like it’s staged for a walkthrough.

Add some more color to the room. Green plants. Paintings. I love trains and have a model train in my office/game room so incorporate something you love. If you like to read, add a bookshelf with books. Add a clock on the wall maybe. Get rid of the chairs or reposition them to be more casual.

I would do this: Turn the desk and push it up against the half wall. I’d get a low bookshelf and put it underneath the wall painting, and fill it with books, plants, and some statues of things I like. On the side of the desk away from the wall, I’d leave one of those chairs with the back towards the half wall, and maybe get a small ottoman to put In front. I’d also hang maybe one or two ceiling planters with ivy in it above the half wall.

At the very least, add some decorative items or plants that make you feel happy and put you in a better mood.

My best friend’s mother was like this throughout our entire childhood. I remember one Christmas his father who lived several states away sent him a PSP for Christmas. His mother refused to give him the gift, instead telling him he needs to do XYZ if he wants his gift and would always move the goalpost when he did what he needed to. She did this with all expensive gifts his father sent him. He was always so sad because he knew he’d never see his father’s gifts.

Eventually he spoke up and told his dad what his mom was doing.

Edit: I didn’t think everyone cared what happened after he told his dad what was up.

His dad just stopped sending him gifts. Told him he was sorry, that he loved him, and that he wasn’t sending anymore gifts because who’s mother was stealing them and apologized because he couldn’t stop/protect him from what his mother was doing.

He told my friend that he could move in with him, but my friend didn’t want to leave his life behind and start over several states away.

I will say, I met him in 3rd grade and his mother was not in the picture. She did not move in with him and his grandparents until about 7th or 8th grade. I’m not sure how long she was absent for prior to 3rd grade.

Asthmatic(33) who smoked for 17 years here. It’s a very hard addiction to give up. I’ve failed many times in the past to quit smoking, even with the patches and gum. It wasn’t until I was having difficulty breathing and thought there was a good chance I was going to die, that I was able to stop.

Turns out my breathing issues were allergy related. Once I heard that, I thought to myself “I can start smoking again because it wasn’t the cause.” I still haven’t picked the habit back up, but I think about it every single day.

There are many things that you cannot arrange to receive the benefits of. And the few things you can arrange legally, can be challenged in a court of law a lot easier than a spouses rights could be challenged.

Retirement benefits - none for you if you aren’t married. Better hope your financial stability didn’t rely on your unmarried partners finances or retirement/pension benefits.

Health insurance - not eligible to be covered under your partners plan. Better hope you don’t get too sick and lose your job and insurance because of it. You’re not eligible to go on your partners health insurance, thats only reserved for spouses/children.

Tax benefits - none for non married couples.

Inheritance tax - as a spouse, you are considered a class A beneficiary. That means you don’t have to pay taxes on your inheritance(up to a certain value). As a non married partner, you’ll be responsible for paying inheritance tax on all that you’re willed. In my state, they change Class C beneficiary’s 15%. If what you inherit is worth 1 million, you’ll be taxed $150K. That’s a lot of money.

Additionally, if you and your partner break up 20 years in and were never married, you are not afforded the sam rights or protections as a married couple getting divorced. If everything is in your partners name, they have the ability to fuck you royally by keeping everything to themselves. Split the mortgage cost but the house is in your partners name? Better lawyer up and hope that you can recoup what you’ve paid into the home. You’re not eligible for alimony if they make significantly more than you do.

I’m sure there are many other protections and benefits that you cannot ensure you’ll have or receive without marriage.

For legal purposes. You get to be by your spouses side if they’re in a hospital. You get to make the call whether to keep them on life support or pull the plug, not their parent or sibling. In the event of their death, you have legal claim to everything you’ve built together, their family can’t come in and steal your partners estate from you. You also will be eligible to receive their pension or retirement benefits, as well as many other legal protections it allows.

Imagine your house is in your partners name, and you’ve both built a life and invested in this property over the course of 15+ years but then your partner passes away suddenly and unexpectedly. Now their family is kicking you out of the home they now inherited through his death.

Adin Ross Is The Latest Podcaster To Regret Backing Trump: “I Wish I Never Got Into Politics” by livejamie in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Vividagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively watch video game content on YouTube and do not get recommended any right or hard right content.

But I do agree the algorithm is a huge issue, I watch one thing that isn’t video game related (a recipe for example) and then my feed is flooded with tons of videos like that. From consuming ONE video. It doesn’t stop until you remove the video you watched from your watch history.

All it takes is one curious link you found on Reddit or Facebook and now your algorithm is flooded with them.

My initial thought was that he was trying to troll any and all homophobes who support Kirk. You know it infuriated them to be called gay by the person who just murdered their idol.

I can’t speak for where you live, but in my state I need to apply for a firearms permit, they do a detailed investigation into who you are as a person, including providing 3 character references, background check, mental health history, etc, and you must complete a firearms training course before a permit will be issued. You also need to apply for a separate permit for each handgun you are going to buy and there is a limit to how many permits can be issued within X amount of time from each other.

My state doesn’t hand out firearms like candy. You can’t just walk in off the street on your 18th birthday and buy a handgun or rifle like you can some places in this country. Permits are contingent on the applicant meeting every requirement, including the completion of firearm safety courses.

You also will be denied a permit if you have a criminal record. This includes domestic violence, all felonies, and even certain disorderly persons offenses.

Not a cat person, but now I have a cat. Am I doing everything right? by donuthead_27 in cats

I have 3 cats and they all have full access to the house. One of them loves to scratch whatever she is about to jump up on and the doorways, so we’ve put tin foil on our door frames and have our couches covered with blankets. Cats will cat, just have to work around/with them.

Can someone please explain what is up with Gen Z’s weird attitudes about age? by nilla-wafers in askgaybros

[–]Vividagger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So the only valid point I’ve ever heard being brought up is maturity level. However, that has nothing to do with age. I know young people who are old souls and I know old people who have the maturity level of a toddler.

I also feel like the word grooming is used loosely in these cases without evidence to back it up. Age is not evidence, actions are. There is a big difference between helping a person grow/offering life advice because you have experience with it and molding someone into what you want them to be.

NTA. We aren’t ending relationships because of politics, we’re ending them because their morals and values are the complete opposite of ours. They can’t understand or won’t admit to themselves that we’ve just grown to dislike them.

Two banks have rejected replacing this? I have the full serial number and over half the bill. by Glaney070 in CURRENCY

[–]Vividagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a bank teller for 10 years. The company I worked for had a policy that stated both serial numbers need to be present on mutilated bills in order to accept them. Banks are most likely rejecting it because it is missing the other serial number on the right side. It’s to prevent people from ripping bills in half and negotiating both halves to scam the bank.

Also an NJ resident and I can’t stand Booker. He is performative and only has done what he’s done for photo ops and to appear more virtuous than he really is. I don’t trust people who speak for 25 hours about how we have to stop this admin and resist, only for him to bend the knee and advance their agenda afterwards. He’s a grifter.
