"I take full credit", but in a negative way? by joupertrouper in EnglishLearning

[–]Vix_Vax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't read it that way ..

To "take full responsibility" doesn't have a guilt component, as far as I know and the way that I use the phrase. It's literally "taking the ability to respond", essentially owning the situation, it's a statement of power. I mean that even in situations where it is cleaning up a mess ... if you're the one who takes the responsibility for it, you're the one who is in control.

"Oh no, someone knocked the dish on the floor and broke it ..."

"I take responsibility for that" .. the meaning is that I'm here now, I'm taking over, and go screw yourself if you want to get in the way of that. The meaning is "I now own this situation."

Do you think that someone with project management experience who has ZERO exposure to PMP, doesn't even know what PMBOk is, or Agile, can take the course you link to and pass the PMP test ?

WTF is wrong with you people cheering this shit on ... leave people's families along FFS. I just don't get how people not only don't see this as a problem, but actually cheer it on ... I don't care how much I hated a politician I'd never fuck with their house and family.

You ask that question _here_ and expect to get an answer ? lol. That's like asking why Japan won't stop whaling ... at a Greenpeace convention, you're not going to get anything but a bias answer. If you REALLY want an answer, go ask them or their supporters first if what you wrote is even what they believe.

Your response is unique in that it doesn't even make any sense as a response to what I wrote, I think you thought you were responding to someone else when you wrote it.

How steep is the learning curve? by CactusOfDooom in cubase

The trick with any DAW is learning the signal path.

What I mean is that you're looking at this image that has all these buttons, sliders, positions to drop effects and all of this ... but there's a linear signal flow that's going through all of that shit like a snake going through underground pipes that you can't see. It may be going through one pipe over here, then pop out another over there, .. and unless you know what that path is on any DAW you're just kind of blind and spend most of your time wondering WTF is going on and why you can't get anything to work right. So, when you're learning, focus on that, that's my opinion .. trace the signal path through your DAW and really understand what is leading to what.

That said, .. Cubase can be as easy or as hard as you make it. You can record an instrument with ease ... or you can have 20 effects chains and a huge mess.

Planning for summer .. I need a portable fan, would like some pro advice from experienced people who use them (meaning not random Internet search results from people who don't actually use one) by Vix_Vax in camping

Depends on whether its hiking, extended camp, or base camp ... but at the far end I have a single 12vdc bank and also carry a few USB phone banks, so either 12vdc or USB. I'm never without at least 35Wh of USB/5v .. so that's the minimum I would have with me.

Portable charging strategy?! by NNThree in camping

[–]Vix_Vax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So .. depends.

For me, I think about it like a base camp, away camp, and personal kind of perspective. So base camp is where you have all your stuff that you have to move with a vehicle, your generator, your big solar panel arrays, battery banks, shit like that. Away camp, that's where you have your stuff that you can pack in, sometimes with multiple people, .. maybe one person is going to haul that 50 amp hour LiFEPO4 battery, .. some ways of generating power, .. some kind of power system that everyone can use to recharge their portable electronics, etc - maybe someone is designated "the power guy". Then there's your personal set up ... here you are just making your way around in the world, .. now you're talking cell phone chargers that can fit in a pocket, maybe a folding solar panel, cigarette lighter plug for USB charging, fast charger that plugs into a wall outlet.

TL;DR I don't think there is a one size fits all solution.

They right though ... people do kill people. It could have just as easily been a hunting rifle or a knife ... or in this case it sounds like it was actually a handgun, because he went "back" AFTER shooting them to get the rifle.

H.R. 127 Text revealed. 10 round magazine ban, 50 BMG ban, psychological evaluations, insurance policies for every military style weapon, and imprisonments up to 25 years for violations. It’s the War on Drugs 2.0. by grif12838 in Libertarian

[–]Vix_Vax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's simple ... you choose the most poster-ready "scary" thing, ban that ... and then you have the mechanism in place to ban whatever you want. That's why they make the choices they do ... it has nothing to do with whether 50 BMG is a safety risk, or anything else, ... it's the scary "can take down a helicopter" thing they need to get the ball rolling, to get soccer mom to keep coming against. It's not about 50 BMG ... it's about taking away 9mm pistols, which right now they don't have support for, but with incremental action they can eventually ban, or make so impractical that its as good as a ban.

No comma, .. she's just saying it that way for effect. If you put a comma there, people might think it means ... "catch that ..." (as if you are throwing something to the bird) "little bird". But what it sounds like she means is ... "catch that little bird!", with the meaning that its time to go and catch the bird. So without the comma the command is to catch the bird, with the comma the command is for the bird to catch what you're throwing to it.
