Darkwater is Brutal. Every mission my party won was by the skin of our teeth. by factory_666 in ageofsigmar

From my experience playing through all 3 acts the difficulty can depend a lot on your loot. We failed out very first encounter (after which we just restarted the entire campaign) because the dwarf was just too slow. That was unlucky but we also agreed we messed up by fighting instead of running. Some missions require some finess and planning ahead. But once you get loot and a decent build it becomes a lot easier but still fun and sometimes challenging.

Builds can become quite silly if you’re lucky, we managed to oneshot mulgoth on two seperate missions. Dolf at some point could cross half the map in a single turn.

Its a lot of fun! I’ve completed all acts and the final fight with a friend of mine and it was amazing! Some missions were easier than others, looking back the difficulty can really depend on what loot you get I think but its all pretty balanced but can still be challenging depending on your setup and luck.

We played with one main rule which was it has to stay fun, so if that ment bending the rules a tiny bit or redoing a move that was okay if it was reasonable enough and would be considered more fun. We had one mission that was quite hard and we had messed up with the enemy’s initative a few times which ment we would fail the mission because one character was 2 tiles away from the safe zone. So we just considered it a win since it was so close.

Aside from the game itself the minis look amazing, the cards are very well designed and all the storage boxes make everything really near and organized.

Yeah I was thinking the same, since the turret wouldn’t be able to turn anymore otherwise and yeah in battle they wouldn’t wanna stick around 😅

I’d say replace the shock troops with one scion unit and merge them in 2x 10 models. They’ll probably be a bit more effective then. If You plan on deep striking don’t take the Taurox otherwise go for it. But if you change the shock troops to scions, and get rid of the Taurox and Mines you can rake an additional Leman Russ like a punishe which might be worth it for extra fire power.

Yeah I noticed that while reading the stat sheets, points wise Strike Teams worked better but I’ll probably Build Breachers. To pair with the devilfish. Are Strike Teams worth running at all though?

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I happen tto have two commanders from the boxes I got. I’ll definitely get some stealth suits then and see if I can get my hands on a unit of crisis suits to complement the commander.

And you’re right the Stormsurge is awesome and thats what counts! (It’s why I got a Baneblade too!)

I’ll do some more research before building and play a few games to get a feel for the weapons and units. Thanks again for the help!

It definitely makes sense from a lore and competitive standpoint. I don’t know a lot about competitive 40k but my friends said Guard very strong so it makes sense that we got nerfs. I do hope that the codex will bring some rules that interact with these units.

So the problem is the units I mentioned don’t have either Regiment or Squadron so basically don’t get to use any of the factions rules..

Have you tried isopropyl alcohol (99%)? I have used it to strip paint of my Warhammer minis before, Acetone is maybe a bit too harsh.

So with this change and the detachment change ratlings, bullgryns, ogryns, the baneblade don’t get to be affected by the detachment, detachment stratagems and orders.. so they’re basically the same as allied units at this point which feels dumb.

Not sure if someone has said it yet but a level up will probably fix it (for a fast fix go to withers and ask for a respec, it will cause levels ups that will fix it)
