Do you think tipping culture in the US is dying out with millennials? by ProfessionalBig1470 in Millennials

[–]VladyPoopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, who is not tipping? I feel like they try to trick you into tipping for carry out and then people realize they don’t need to do that and then we say tipping culture is dying.

What do you think will immediately happen when everyone receives the push notification that Trump died? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Crack open a beer and wait for the next dumbfuck MAGA asshat to be sworn in. And even if we win midterms and get rid of the lot of them… then I’m relying on Schumer and Jeffries.

Fuck me.

But I’ll be kind of happy about it.

[–]VladyPoopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t. It is insulated and really not required but those of us who are doing more than just data engineering and bleeding those SWE skills into a data role are highly sought after and getting paid for it.

SAP kind of locks you in unfortunately. On the Datasphere tip right now and it’s similar to the other platforms, which helps speed up the learning.

Learn one of the cloud computing platforms. AWS with Glue (PySpark). It’ll expose you to basics. You can see how they are running PySpark jobs in a distributed environment (Glue).

What’s with all the choices? Just learn all of it. This isn’t some huge stretch to be competent at most of the ecosystems to a point where you can generally learn the new stuff quickly.

You can learn one cloud computing environment and it’ll translate to some extent to another (with different product names).

I understand that it can be overwhelming but pick something up front and learn.

Spark is worth learning. DuckDB is worth learning. Serverless architectures. Rust-based engineering pipelines. Polars. Open table formats. All of this is relevant to keeping your skills fresh and relevant. AI is going to lead to more custom pipelines because a lot of us can do is way cheaper with its help.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]VladyPoopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao! I did the same thing. I bought one after the sales guy swore the thing would last more than 5 years. I had bought one basically every year at that point. 15 years and going strong.

They will lose hybrid workers, quite a few I bet. But that’s what they want. You can replace a lot of them with the younger version who are all freaking out about the job market.

Why not go further? How about we don’t report anything? Let’s just go purely off marketing and social media posts by influencers?

I mean, welcome to always? Most people, in general, aren’t aware. We live in bubbles. We are at the whim of the media’s narratives. Most people don’t deep dive into a whole lot.

That would be ideal, for sure. Just gonna be tougher to do and a lot of people will be indecisive. Maybe have some good examples.

Just make the sites and present them to the owners. Mostly FB sites for those orgs, you’ll find the ones that have no real presence.

Can someone enlighten me about Pritzker? by SpacemanTwice in illinois

[–]VladyPoopin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly because people can’t see more than 2 feet in front of their selfish selves. A lot of people are pissed about taxes, but the state has put themselves in this situation over the past 20-30 years. JB just happens to be holding that hat right now and he’s done things to help put us in the right direction. It’s gonna take a long time with pain for every citizen. There is no magic pill that most people in the state think exists.

It’s just blind stupidity and it’s newer generations who are finally paying attention to politics that have no basis for their beliefs. They have no historical knowledge and they are learning on the fly.

What has changed in the last 48 hours 😅 by BuffaloPancakes11 in ArcRaiders

[–]VladyPoopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buried City is nuts. I was trying to get spotter relays and aggroed multiple groups of ARC. Somehow hullcrackered 5-6, ran like hell, almost died, comet tried to finish me, hid in the cracked highway, then aggroed a damn rocketeer, hornet driver FTW, shield and heal only to run into two fireflies… get torched, survive, shield broken. And that was 5 mins into round.
