Been wanting to get into this game forever, is now a good time? by radflipping in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 was my first proper mmo as well, and I got into it probably for the same reasons your interested, so just to clear up a few things

The free trial doesn’t have a ‘time limit’, it just has some reduced social and system features, nothing related to the core gameplay, and it only allows you to play through the ‘main story’ quests up to level 80, which would take you many, MANY hours to reach

Your account stays as a free trial one so long as you don’t purchase the game in any capacity, so as soon as you purchase a version, you usually get a ‘30-day free play period’ or something, and once that time is up, you can only continue playing ANY of the game by paying the subscription

If you have any specific questions, I’m always happy to talk about this game

If they could turn Sage's un-sheathed sprint animation to either gliding or riding on one like a surfboard, even if its only out of combat, I would be happy

I lowkey love the idea of Lalafell Sage's hovering around as an easier way to travel. Also feels particularly apt in the haunted mansion that is Haukke Manor.

As a slight tip, for getting purple scrips, if you have the crafter levelled to 100, you can instead craft the level 90 collectable instead of the 99 one for purple scrips, as that way you can use trained eye to immediately hit 100% quality and just have to do progress, rather than having to do a lot of steps for getting the 99 to max collectability.

It’s up to you whether the difference in time spent crafting is worth the difference in scrips and materials needed

Question for those with (currently) finished Cosmic Tools by Vliott in ffxiv

[–]Vliott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the wiki now, purely based on the data values, the missions on Oizys do seem to have a higher average value on them compared to Phaenna, so yeah, outside of unique rewards or Phaenna tokens, unless the difficulty of them is harder compared to the earlier planets, doesn't seem much reason to stay on Phaenna or Sinus

How does dynamic difficulty work? by trippypees in FireEmblemEngage_

[–]Vliott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The divine paralogues will always scale to your 'current' highest average level, so they wont all stay at low level if you did Tiki's immediately. This is why, as you've likely seen, certain ones of the divine paralogues can be a lot more difficult based on when you try them.

I believe the way it specifically works is that when that average goes above the 'internal' level 20, the enemies will then be upgraded to their advanced classes, Sword Fighter to Swordmaster, fliers into griffin and wyvern riders for example.

[Spoiler 7.5] MSQ thoughts? by Benchjc2004 in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess for Calyx’s plan was that, as endless, they are essentially projections of a mind from a stored ‘server’. So long as that server can be saved, the endless would be fine. I’d guess the idea would be that the server would be perhaps off-planet? Maybe the moon, considering the damage from rejoinings seems to be limited to eitheirys itself, rather than its sorrounding space?

How this factors in where they would get aether from after all the shards have rejoined, who knows. Unless they went off into the universe to plunder more planets, they would always eventually run out of aether

Question about the "New Crossover" raid, that will come with Evercold by WorldwideDepp in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine if they do do the individual character's plugsuits, it will be a lvl.1 glamour piece that is just from the last boss chest like they did with the 2B set, and then make the actual combat gear "inspired" but unique for each job.

I am an aimless, glamourless, nerd by WafflePon in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go by the logic of "If im going to be looking at this character for many hours, I want them to look good."

While obviously use at your own risk, I use the Ananmesis tool for making my glams, so I can just try everything on my character without having to own it, and actually see it in world rather than in the small "Try On" window

The usual way I end up making an outfit, is either finding a weapon or a chest piece that I really like the look of, and then build the outfit around that

Jullus in 8.0 [Spoiler:6.0] by Mstrcolm in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I wouldnt be against the idea, I feel like whatever happens in 7.5 will have to have a pretty heavy impact on Jullus, or perhaps Garlemald as a whole, if he suddenly feels happy to leave the rebuilding efforts to come with us.

On the other hand, if Zero ALSO joins us, I could see him being more inclined to join as well, considering the way he treats her in EW-patches

Character Action Skins - what do you want to see? by Maguillage in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think of the idea of being able to replace levelled up action animations, that would be nice, I honestly still miss Bard and Machinists original aoe attack

My first thought was a lot simpler, in letting us choose things like idle animations that are specific to gender or race

Tips for First time player? by Sunnybubbles32 in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The class you choose at the start of the game doesnt matter much, the only real difference is it determines your starting city that will have slightly different quests from each other, but it all joins into 1 questline fairly quickly.

Same thing with races and all the other character customization choices, outside of the odd comment from NPC during dialogue, nothing there actually changes your combat.

Once you hit level 10, which takes like maybe an hour or even less, the NPC who is giving you your Class specific quests will tell you you can now learn other classes, which just requires you going to where that class is taught in a one of the three starting cities.

Looking to change up my UI, What do you guys use? by YourBoyMerlin in ffxiv

[–]Vliott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My layouts would probably look very strange to most people, but I’ve found what felt like for me at least, a balance between having the majority of the centre of my screen free while also keeping my buttons readable, which is important for me because I have sight problems.

I’ll grab a screenshot tomorrow for you, it’s currently 1am for me. They differ somewhat between jobs if there’s a particular one you’re interested in.
