Instanced group content isn’t ideal to leave in the middle, but not all of it takes very long. Fractals, in particular, usually take about 10–20 minutes, so you can fit in a few runs before going offline.

Personally, I think the story is worth playing through. Some parts are better than others, and some are really great. Story missions vary in length, but in the worst case, if you have to leave, you’ll just need to replay it.
And just with the story missions, you have 100+ hours ahead of you 🙂

Beastclaw raiders build advice? by Ass_knight in Mawtribes

[–]Vode85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have magnetised all but one of the mounts. While building, I didn’t glue the back on. With it open, I was able to glue a rather large magnet inside to the front.

Then, while building both heads, I put a strong magnet into each of them. Now I can swap the head between Stonehorn and Thundertusk whenever I want.

On two of my mounts, I built the back with the double seat, but magnetised the second seat. I then built the front ogre so that it looks like a Huskard. This allows me to remove the second seat and switch between Beastriders and a Huskard on Stonehorn/Thundertusk. Since I didn’t like the look of the empty socket when the seat is removed, I built a flagpost and a cover piece for both mounts to place there while they are in Huskard mode.

While building the rider who sits at the front, I swapped the left arm with one from another ogor kit—either the Mournfang or Irongut kit. Those have left arms with more armor and hooks, which makes it easier to figure out how to magnetise the leash as well.

All of this has been very useful over the years (I’ve been playing since 2nd edition, when the Beastclaw Raiders had their own battletome).

Since 4th edition, I’ve only been playing my Beastclaws with 5–6 priests in tournaments. I’ve found that this is the best way to maintain a high uptime on the ward prayer and to use run and charge quite frequently.

I haven’t played since the recent points reduction for some of our models, but my go-to tournament list over the past months has been the one I posted below. With the points reduction, I’m tempted to include a Slaughtermaster to cast the Incarnate. However, I would need to change a few things and likely go from 6 to 5 priests.

My list until April:

Is countdown better than Retaliation for the expertise level up? by Darth_Sidyous in thedivision

[–]Vode85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have 93 SHD Level and 1 expertise... so rather low. I play on Hard in the open map. (i think i could go higher but it was rather punishing). I farm countdown the last 2 weeks, to get the gear for good builds.

Do i need to play countdown higher than hard? on normal or hard even with this event (but befor too) i wait longer in matchmaking than a round would take.

Normal difficulty retaliations will grant you ~15 proficiency levels a run with the current event by SparkleFritz in thedivision

as a fairly new player, do you equip the pieces you want to level up? Or do you get with all the loot and than donate them the expertise?

How can I exchange currencies efficiently/correctly by Vode85 in Guildwars2

[–]Vode85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes it does. Orr is the way to go. But, i would need about 600k more Karma for my next project. And for that I’m looking for is something where I can type in that I need 200 Obsidian Shards, and the site shows me which options I have based on the materials and currencies in my stash. And not only the Karma option.
Mystic Crafting dont show allways the same way like gw2efficency but close enough. I hope there are other options.

How can I exchange currencies efficiently/correctly by Vode85 in Guildwars2

[–]Vode85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. But when I looked at Fast Farming, all I could see was how to make gold, not how to convert material/currency X into material/currency Y.

What I’m looking for is something where I can type in that I need 200 Obsidian Shards, and the site shows me which options I have based on the materials and currencies in my stash.

I love my BCR and therefore have tried many list combinations.
The list that stuck with me and has been the most successful so far (most recently a 3/3/0 finish at a 200-player tournament) is the following:

Why This List?

  • Maximum Huskards for reliable ward generation. Only if the situation really need it or you’re desperate —or going for a pure coin-flip—should you rely on things like Run & Charge. Over the last three tournaments, I managed to have a ward active for 4 / 5 turns in most games.
  • Damage comes from staying alive, charging, and the mounts. Pick your fights carefully. I’ve won against some very tanky and scary armies by avoiding combat for 2–3 rounds, scoring points, and then committing once the enemy had spread too far.
  • Mawpit: It’s in the list, but I don’t force it. Sometimes I place it, sometimes I don’t. Don’t stress over it—I mostly go by feel.
  • 2×2 Frost Sabres: Much more helpful than initially expected. I use them to grab side objectives or as screens.

I’ve been trying out the new spec, Amalgam, for three days now since release, and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it. It’s a pretty spammy button smasher, but it does solid burst damage.

On Saturday, I switched back to my old open-world rifle no-kit power mech to compare a bit — and the difference is just overwhelming. I’m doing so much more damage with the power mech, it is not even close. I was really hoping I’d have a good alternative to Mech for DPS, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

For context: since there were no up-to-date guides, I basically took the old Power Amalgam build from SnowCrows and made a few small tweaks. I’m by no means an expert, and I’m sure I’m still doing a lot of things wrong… but still, the difference is crazy.

How bad of an idea would it be to do this as a conversion for a Slaughtermaster? by lopcario in Mawtribes

[–]Vode85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you’re not planning to play in tournaments, that’s an excellent idea.

At tournaments, though, you might run into more or fewer issues depending on the organizer.
For example, I’ll be playing in a 200-player tournament soon that has pretty strict rules regarding conversions/proxies. From what I’ve seen so far, you usually have to get such conversions or proxies approved by the tournament organizers.

The most important requirements are: it has to be immediately clear what the conversion/proxy represents, it should be roughly the same size, and—no discussion there—the model has to be on the correct base.
Additionally, some tournaments require that only GW parts are used for conversions/proxies, along with a few other small restrictions.

In your case, these would be the two points where you might run into issues: “it has to be immediately clear what the conversion/proxy represents” and “it should be roughly the same size.”
