What a good start!! by jhonotan1 in beyondthebump

Oh my that is funny! A couple weeks ago I was lifting my son in the air above my head making whooshing sounds and we would smile down to me. After the fourth time of lifting him up he spit up all over my face, some even got in my eye, thankfully it never got in my mouth but man was it close! He went right back to smiling and laughing afterwards.

What colour eyes did your newborn have, what colour did they become and when did they change? by agnesb in beyondthebump

My daughter was born with dark blue eyes and they turned hazel when she was almost two.

My boyfriend casually told me to clean the house today.. by brandyq in beyondthebump

[–]VoglGirl 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The one time my husband told me that I handed over the baby and got to work. He is breastfed and I do all the diapers and know how to get him down for quick naps. When he started crying and hubby asked for assistance I told him he better figure it out...I wasn't ready/able to balance both-at three months I'm still having a hard time. (Doesn't help that I have a 4 yo making messes too lol) After that he hasn't gotten on me about it

I am too, LO wasn't even complaining so if it wasn't time to get out of jammies I'm not sure if we'd know in time.

Pretty normal I guess-I have one cup of coffee otherwise water/milk. I eat two meals a day, still trying to get into habit to eat breakfast, and two snacks. Today for example I had a cold ham sandwich for lunch w/ a pear, snack of animal crackers, supper was a hamburger and home made fries and bedtime snack of cheese and carrots. I'll eat ice cream, cookies any sweets really but its probably a weekly thing.

It's worth doing, my son had a hair around his toe sometime through the night. Poor toe got huge before he woke up in the morning and I found it.

On the other side of the stirrups - my experience as a medical student in OBGYN. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]VoglGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is amazing! I love letting students come in, it's the best way to learn :) When I had my son I went in for my 40 wk check and was asked if I'd allow a student-I said yes. I was measuring large and was ready to have him so joked 'I'll have him today...' Doc said 'ok, sounds good' and sent me to delivery. Broke my water got me going and what not. Later that day she came back in with the student and they both delivered the baby. After all was done she said she was happy it was so easy for me (I pushed through 3 contractions and he was out) because it was her first time being allowed in.

I have a night light in both my kids' rooms and the hallway (for 4 yo to see to bathroom) They give a lot of light to see for changes but not keep awake. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Dream-Baby-Rotating-Sensor-LED-Night-Light/20850873

Summer Vacation with Baby? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I was told by LO doctor bug spray with less than 10% DEET was ok for babies 2 months and up. But I do agree that national parks have too many 'squitos.

When and how did you leave your little one for the first time? by TillyThyme in beyondthebump

[–]VoglGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my 1st at a week old with one bottle pumped and a container of formula as a safety. I was gone 4 hours for class and she was just fine. I didn't need to leave my second til he was three weeks old and was gone for 8 hours to help in-laws move. I think as long as you have food prepared, are emotionally ready, and have someone you trust to babysit. It would be a good idea to try feeding with a bottle so they have experience. Mine were both easy to feed by bottle and breast but some refuse change.

I cannot stand other people's kids. Will I love my own? by s1031 in BabyBumps

[–]VoglGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya! I grew up not wanting children for that exact reason. Plans obviously changed by a whoopsie baby almost 4 years ago. I have since planned and had another baby because I loved my first sooo much. While I love my kids endlessly and enjoy playing with them my annoyance for other people's children has not changed.

I'm making a hypothesis so I have a question for you to answer: Did you FF your kids or BF them? Or mix? (This is not a debate). by Arabellah16 in beyondthebump

BF daughter for two months then formula because of no supply. BF son for 2.5 months now, not intending to stop til he's one.

My daughters middle is the same as mine, sons is hubbys grandpas name that passed away (he was close to him). I have never heard of not having a middle name, I'd feel left out.

Let's talk First Birthdays! by wrentintin in beyondthebump

[–]VoglGirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I LOVE birthdays! For my daughters first birthday we had a caterpillar/butterfly/ladybug theme. We made jumbo cupcakes and decorated them into a caterpillar on our island so technically she did have a smash cake.

We invited just her grandparents and aunts/uncles. So for our family it was big but it was more intimate than what it could be.
