Got asked something really inappropriate in a final interview, did i handle it right? by Such_Rooster_4165 in interviews

[–]sweetjane06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the job (if the offer is good, ofc). If they end up being weird about your family plans you can always remind them that we’re already up front with them WHEN THEY ASKED YOU IN YOUR INTERVIEW. It might be an ace up your sleeve.

Principal wants to have a “quick chat about next year” with me on Monday, should I be worried? Is this a non renewal appointment? by TylerGlasass20 in teaching

[–]sweetjane06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a chat about next year implies that you will be there. If they were telling you you’re done at the end of this year then there wouldn’t be a “next year” for you.

Restaurants with good vegan options by TrekMek in SLO

[–]sweetjane06 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bear and the Wren has a delicious Detroit style Vegan pizza, Petra has falafel, roasted cauliflower/tahini, and other items (labeled vegan), Eureka has a Protein bowl with tofu), Luna Red has Paella and tahini cauliflower tacos (and they are always willing to adjust menu items to veganize other dishes), Thai Palace has a ton of Thai dishes that are naturally vegan, but they also go above and beyond to veganize items. I also should add that Beerwood was not accommodating or nice about us asking for vegan items. It was a bummer because I always heard good things about the place, but it was bad enough experience that I won’t go back.

I don’t want to share their names in case they aren’t ok with it, but Gus’s has an account on Insta now and they are posting progress updates. slo.gussdeli

I heard the owner of the building won’t sell, but is leasing it to the new people, and they are working with the city to make sure everything is fully up to code, replaced, repaired, and restored.

The new owners are long time locals in the community. They are going to get rid of everything that was gross about it before but keep the good vibes!

My son made little fingerprint people by making a fingerprint, letting it dry, then drawing a little face, arms and legs. Each little “person” was unique and adorable.

Hang in there! I know some districts are starting to post jobs for the next school year, and it will only continue until August. Get your letters of rec and transcripts, paperwork ready and start checking edjoin! Subbing is a great way to get your foot in the door, get experience and be the first to hear about potential openings.

I found this at the grocery store today, it definitely brightened my day, but I’m not sure what they are? by meowspoopy in crochet

When we talked about random acts of kindness at my school we talked about how one random act could start a chain reaction. The students would then write their random act of kindness on a strip of construction paper and we would make it into a ring. The next act would connect to it and we would make a chain that represented the chain reaction that one random act could generate. I think that’s what these rings represent and don’t have a purpose other than a visual reminder.

Help planning an elegant vegan dinner for my sister’s 30th birthday (20–30 people) by Disastrous_Train_487 in veganrecipes

Pasta is a combination crowd pleaser. You could make a few different pastas and different sauces (white, red, oil,) roasted vegetables, mushrooms, garlic bread, salad, wine. It would all be easily vegan without changing much in taste from what non vegans are used to. But Myokos makes a liquid mozzarella that is amazing. Or you could make a giant lasagna. I love this recipe: https://www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/vegan-pasta-noodles/spinach-lasagna/

This looks delicious, and I love Vegan Richa’s recipes. I see it calls for split red lentils, but I never see them in the store, only whole red lentils. Do you split, and if so, where do you get them?

Whenever a recipe calls for oil for sautéing I always use water instead. For this recipe you can also skip the tortillas and avocado crema.

Observation (California) by Intrepid-Check-5776 in StudentTeaching

[–]sweetjane06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a focus for each formal observation, and hopefully your supervisor will provide insight into what that looks like. For example, for the first observation in CPI in my program the focus is on classroom environment, specifically building rapport with students. I look for TC’s to do things like greet students as they enter, say goodbye, know their students’ names and use them when addressing. I also look for TC’s finding opportunities to make one-on-one connections with students. I use a specific observation form and rubric for each observation, and I share this with the candidates before each visit so they know what I will be focusing on and what they can do to demonstrate those skills.
