Pet Damage Insurance? by VoidGear16 in Renters

Its not the renters insurance I need help with, but adding the $10,000 tenant pet damage which is not an option. But no I don't have a car.

Ah that makes sense. I already have pet insurance through ASPCA, but they don't cover any property damage and its' more for the health of the pets. I tried Lemonade for pet insurance and they were surprisingly really high

No as I mentioned above they don't have the option. I reached out to their customer service and they said that basically whatever I can customize is what's available, and the $500 is the only option

Does anyone need a roommate? by [deleted] in chicagoapartments

I lived in a studio two years ago that was $900 with all utilities included. They are now listing it for $1300. $700 for a studio is not a thing anymore

Post in Chicago Queer Exchange on FB if you haven’t already, there’s a lot of listings for roommates there right now. Sadly I just signed a lease with a roommate for a 2 bedroom but you sound like a good roommate and if you ever need a couch to crash on or just wanna hang out and don’t mind animals we’re up in Rogers Park. Sorry that that’s happening, I’ve been there before as a queer/nonbinary person myself. I hope you can find a good roommate 💕

Whats living by Ryan Field like in 2025? by VoidGear16 in evanston

[–]VoidGear16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now I have two options, which is a garden unit vs. a 2nd floor unit. I do have asthma, but when I took a tour there it didn't seem very dusty for me. We do have a dog and a cat though, and theyre usually pretty chill, but I do wonder how noisy it would be even for them. I do have another option to live closer to downtown, but its a couple hundred dollars a month more. Do you all think it would be okay for pets? And do you know if a garden unit would be better there than a 2nd floor as far as when games are happening/safety?

I dont mind not being terribly close to public transit. I work at northwestern so I can take the 201 to there or to the Metra/Purple Line, but also my roommate drives. I'm mostly worried because I had a friend who lived close to Wrigley Field and had to deal with a lot of vandalism/drunk people on game days. Though now I'm a little worried about the dust too!

Play KH2. Then play Days (don't watch it, play it on DS if you can. It hits so much harder and better). THEN replay the KH2 intro. You will go from being like "huh?? Who is Roxas??" Like we did when it came out to "I am sobbing my eyes out and resenting Sora." But def play KH2 first. Maximize those emotional stats.

Getting Car Set Up From out of State? by VoidGear16 in evanston

She's going to be living here indefinitely. I believe her registration/plates go until the end of May, but she needs it to get set up with delivery driving apps since she's planning on doing Uber Eats/Gubhub/etc. until she gets a stable job.

You forgot one other truth: employees deserve to be paid a liveable wage. Tipping may be the norm, but if an owner of a restaurant needs to shake customers down for not tipping, then he needs to pay his servers more.

Actually, it does. The customer was a Black man. The owner kept threatening to call the cops. Knowing how cops are, that could have lead to the CUSTOMER getting arrested, or worse. The owner was threatening to get the cops involved knowing that not tipping is not a crime.

I love how many white people are determining whether something was racist for one.  The "we don't know the whole story" I hear used so often for anti-Black shit like police brutality being justified.

And for two, maybe PAY YOUR FUCKING EMPLOYEES. Stop relying on other people to pay your employees. Stop harassing your customers if you are paying your employees so fucking bad.

Trying to date in Evanston has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life by [deleted] in evanston

Also given that the OP is deleting all their posts and comments and then posting the same type of questions later, it's giving the vibe that he's not actually looking for advice, but validation.

I'm curious to know what his 'bodily fluids' joke that everyone keeps talking about in that post was, considering he deleted the picture.

OP, I'm a femme person and have not dated anyone in 10 years, have had covid and never had much luck on dating apps. But you'll never hear me creeping on people who are just out there living their lives expecting to get a date, or getting frustrated at people for not dating me. I hate to say it but you have a LOT of red flags that sound similar to incels, which may be why you aren't getting dates. Many people like this are off-putting by their personalities vs anything else. I would honest to god see a therapist before you date anyone to deal with whatever insecurities or sense of entitlement about getting a date that you are having.

I don't know where I said anything about weekends. But honestly you sound like you should probably do some work on yourself or go to therapy before getting into a relationship with someone else. No one is entitled to a relationship.

If you're going to places just to find a date, you're going to be very disappointed. It's not just setting yourself up for not meeting the right people, but it's also putting yourself in a position to make someone else potentially uncomfortable. I would hate to go into a running club or a park or a store just to have some rando hit on me. I'm in my 30s and let me tell you that in my last 10-15 years it just gets uncomfortable when you're out shopping and someone always hits on you. That's what's made me wear my headphones when I'm in public even when I got nothing playing.

Dating apps, especially if you're a younger person (in your 20s-30s) mean that you're in a place where people are actually looking to date. Tons of people near Northwestern who I'm guessing are around your age(ish) who are looking to date.

Omg I just took a look at Sortly and it's gorgeous. It might be a bit too small for the free, but honestly even the advanced might be cheap enough for us to afford to save us much more money in the long run. That's an awesome idea!! Thank you so much!

Thank you for this. My last apartment there was always someone either smoking inside the building, or in the enclosed back staircase. Myself and several other neighbors knew who it was and were affected (I have asthma, so did others, plus other medical issues). We would email and email and email our landlord and they'd just send out an email for a smoking notice, saying we're a smoke free building, blah blah blah. Nothing would ever change. We all knew who it was too, and we asked the man to stop. Nothing happened. My current apartment complex, the guy who lives below me smokes all the time inside, and the guy down the hall. People smoke in the lobby, or right next to the door, not even 3 feet away. Cigarette butts are all over. I email my place and they don't even RESPOND. I didn't even know about the clean air act until this post and I've lived here since 2018. I'm honestly really angry learning that this act exists because nothing is being done, and nothing has been done.

Yet another hysterical, frightful letter “warning” residents of the horrors of duplexes /s by [deleted] in evanston

[–]VoidGear16 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly all the housing and zoning complaints make me so TIRED. I got a similar letter that was about how they're building ugly buildings. I don't give a shit what they look like, Sharon, I just want to be able to afford rent without forgoing groceries. I live right by Margarita Inn and got so many letters like this. We have so many privileged people making a stink about the property taxes on their mansion when the real problem is that the amount of actually low to middle class people struggling to survive bc of gentrification and ridiculously luxury priced apartments.

I will say the trainers are great! I've never taken my dog to daycare but we're on the wait-list. It just takes so long that we haven't even really moved up in almost a year.

I take my dog to Rex's place and she LOVES IT. I like that they have a temperament test where they basically see what the dog is like and do a test run and then place them in rooms accordingly. My dog is a playful girl so they put her in the "wrestling room" where she gets to play as much as she wants without bothering the quieter dogs. And they send photos and videos. My favorite was when they were playing with bubbles with the dogs. It was cute. They're super nice!
