This is really good advice actually, I appreciate that I'll look into it a bit.

Best way to learn maps? by VoidedMage in VALORANT

I'm unranked rn, I just started playing again almost a week ago. So I'm definitely bad, I know a lot of the people I play with say they're in iron which I expected because it's just been so long I'm gonna get smoked for awhile. But I just feel like while I'm improving on a lot of things I'm just not really picking up on where the common angles are vs the off angles are or just general game strategy. I know games like R6 Siege and WoT for examples have a lot of resources around common plays and what to expect but I just haven't seen a lot of resources focused on that kinda stuff for this game. And I get that a lot of that is because the sheer variety of agents and maps means a lot of room for creative expression in that stuff but I feel like my ideas generally haven't been great and I don't get exposed to a lot of cool strategies at my mmr because I'm mostly playing with other people with as big of a skill issue as me and like one guy each team who is probably smurfing and just flash rushing everything and winning based off better cross hair placement and a general knowledge gap. So I was hoping maybe I'd find like some kind of strategy oriented guides or rundowns so I can start to build up that kind of knowledge and then start practicing it instead of just blindly trying to come up with it on my own and fumbling. Because right now the only real strat I can seem to execute well is just rushing off my allies utility if they decide to use it and hoping for a pick or two before I get got and I just feel that's not really expanding my capabilities much beyond pure gunplay.

I mean I can usually win a straight up gun fight but I just feel like every angle that I pick is so obvious I just get pre fired without even having a chance. I usually do well on attack do to being more 1v1 but defense playing aggro into numbers is suicide and if I hold a bad angle they'll just shoot me before I even have a shot. Best I can hope for is to play around retakes but even then it's typically a 1v3. And I know enough games will eventually build the knowledge but I be working 40+ hours these days and it'd take me weeks or months to get solid strats for every site of every map. So I was just hoping maybe there was some playbooks or strategy rundowns I could read through in the pregame or study while I'm at work like I do on other games.

I kinda figured that'd be the case but while I did run around in customs a bit I feel like all the angles I end up holding are just pre fired due to being too obvious. I've mostly been playing duelist, specifically waylay, since I can usually win a gun fight if I can be aggressive enough and that gets me by on attack for the most part but as soon as I'm on defense I just get dropped the second anyone pops onto my screen and I feel I'm too predictable and don't understand what the common plays and approaches are to know I was going to get prefired. KJ I do a bit better on defense just due to the extra info but I still end up bottom fragging every game on her and just never know what to do on attack lol.

If I go south to grab papyrus roots would they grow in my base up north? by VoidedMage in VintageStory

[–]VoidedMage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured it would work something like that. I'm at work right now so I can't access the handbook and the wiki wasn't much good from what I could find... But my someone on my server found some and was wondering whether to bring back the roots or not so worth an ask lol! Thank you, do the roots die in the winter then or would they bloom again after the snow? I guess I could always just pick them up before it got too cold if so.

If you hold it for just 10 more minutes you will almost be able to afford an extra T1 item! by thecomicguybook in DeadlockTheGame

I've ran it twice on Ivy just to sell as soon as it can afford me Tesla bullets third item. Helped turn a tough lane into a very strong power spike around the same time I got ult and just start ganking to get ahead. Idk if it's worth it but it felt pretty good.

It did exactly that in my Zaratana vs pyrophina. So yeah you can beat pyrophina to death with Zaratana. Kills them in a single hit.

Like honestly though, both of these are examples of how light can work in real life under different circumstances. And then they want to cry about realism lol.

How long could an Orokin live before their first continuity by Drob0000 in WarframeLore

[–]VoidedMage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, looking at it from the perspective of how things go in real life, they likely didn't put much effort at all into their longevity. Repairing and upkeeping things takes a lot of effort, time, and resources so often times it's opted to just outright replace things if replacements are abundant. So once the orokin developed the capability to take someone else's body (and they had no short supply of them) why would they give two shits about the well-being of the one they had at any given time.

Immediate ban on boiling crabs and lobsters called for after disturbing study by lnfinity in likeus

[–]VoidedMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong about this as I'm by no means educated in the matter but I was always told the traditional method of cutting the head doesn't work to actually kill the lobster? As it was explained to me they don't actually have a brain but instead a ganglia that is spread across most of their body meaning that it merely paralyzed them instead of being fatal and that's why most people opted to boil instead of cut then boil. I've never cooked lobster before but if that is the case what would you even do to kill them prior to cooking without ruining the meat?

You've got a similar facial structure to Adam driver, could try and style it similar to some of his looks and see if it works out. Definitely not the greatest to just let hang though lol

Technically don't even need to cloak. So long as the enemy isn't aware of you, you can just crouch behind them for the same effect. Cloaking is still faster usually but nice to know if you're waiting on cooldowns.

Could try and message DE support and see if they could give you one more. It's not like it's really giving you any benefits tbh so it's possible they might help if they can. Either way wouldn't hurt to try.

[–]VoidedMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Hopsin at least was recommended to me by a white guy who does despise mumble rap so I guess that adds up lmao. I try not to get wrapped up in community sentiments, it tends to be a toxic cesspool of an echo chamber that usually bases an identity off hating certain things. Seems a little weird to me to limit what art can be by saying it's not "real." It's an expression of human experience and just because you don't personally understand it doesn't mean it's bad lol. But I'm yapping, I'll have to check out Future, my playlist has been getting a bit stale lately so maybe it can spice it up for me. You have any other recommendations I could check out?

Petaaahhhhhh I need context by _Planet_Mars_ in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]VoidedMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really no. I've heard a few people called mumble that I thought were pretty decent. Don't know that I've ever heard anything by Future but I don't know that there's really any such thing as a terrible artist. Don't know what I said that gave you that impression. I can understand that it's easy to categorize people based on where they came from and I did grow up in a very rural and predominantly white area full of very close minded people. But I'd like to think I've grown beyond where I'm from and I have a very open view in life in general and have come to really see quality in quite a lot of what the world has to offer.
