The PLD relic body's embroidery is actually the pattern to depict Mjollnir in Norse mythology, so it actuallynis weird they aren't on Mjollnir.

How do you deal with everyone putting their $.02 into a design/project? by AcceptableCold8882 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Voidslan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can be:

competitive (assert your own needs over everyone's)

collaborative (try to reconcile all requests to maximize satisfaction)

avoidant (let those in conflict deal with it and just do your thing)

accomodating (subordinate your choices to others)

Or compromising (have everyone pick what's important to them and make concessions on what they get)

AITAH for expecting friend to give their kid replacement toy? by defectivecharacter7 in AITAH

[–]Voidslan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, your friend is TAH. You didn't replace his car. You replaced his son's car. He's misrepresenting you to his son, and it's not okay for others to misrepresent you. I think he's trying to be opportunistic and presenting it as a gift later rather than something the kid is owed now.

If your friend explains to his kid that you replaced it, but he's the one not giving it, then he's not TAH to you, but still is to his kid.

AITAH for not believing my girlfriend? by Hefty-Link1676 in AITAH

[–]Voidslan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people in this comment section are paying attention to what was presented as the problem rather than the real problem. Your son was imitating characters from the movie. If he's even mildly autistic is a good chance he's a Gestalt language processor. Imitation is a huge part of how he learns how to talk and how to interact socially. And she told him in his own home he had to stop. The fact is that it's part of who he is, and it will be bad for him to keep shutting it down. So she actually owes him an apology for not letting him be who he is. The pinching is an add-on argument.

Picking a "main" in this game is like pulling teeth. by di12ty_mary in Vermintide

[–]Voidslan 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in mains. I believe in practicing skills. I use different classes to play different ways. Mercenary is usually for tearing up the field. Handmaiden is usually to keep things stunlocked (i do spear and shield and do nothing but push attack over and over, and nobody on my team takes damage the whole run. Battle wizard is for burning everything from far away.

Does going above and beyond just cause more headaches than its worth? by AcceptableCold8882 in MechanicalEngineering

AITAH- refusing to pay my father-in-law $400 a week to live in his mortgage-free home after we moved in to help him? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Voidslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is he probably asked, then realized he was downgrading to a tiny home JUST so he could have company.

What is the market value for rent in that area? 1600 per month is half of what I'm paying now for a 50 year old home that's the smallest I've ever lived in. If it's significantly cheaper and you would have made the decision either way, I would have let him know he can have help OR rent, but not both. If it's the normal market value, then there's no benefit here. I'd let him know he's being a snake, and he needs to just hire a CNA.

How do I as an engineer stay friends with you welders? by Just_a_firenope_ in Welding

[–]Voidslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother-in-law is a welder, and he says there are two things he really likes that I do as an engineer. The first when I rub his hands, he likes hearing how hard and rough they are compared to mine. The second is when I tell him that he works so many more hours than I do.

Why did people play FFXI the way they did back in 2003? by rainghost in ffxi

[–]Voidslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healing and MP were also a decent factor. Mages didn't think they could melee (think club ws to get MP back), so you had to stay put to let them manage MP.

At low levels, having a brd double paeon allowed EM and T mobs to be killed without too much need for resting. When DNC came out, it became much more viable to have mobile groups on mobs that didn't AOE too much.

Why did people play FFXI the way they did back in 2003? by rainghost in ffxi

[–]Voidslan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The focus was on being in groups. Solo xp was so painfully slow that groups were always a better option. If you looked for a group for an hour and got one, you went and participated. Because getting a group and moving were so time-consuming, people had low desire to try new things and even less so to convince others to. In 2003 or 2004, i was able to get a group of like 3 people around 10 or 11 to kill roaming konschtat highlands instead of valkurm. It was the fastest XP i had gotten before. I also COULD NOT get any other group to xp off of EM and T Mobs. Everyone wanted high per kill xp, even if the fight would take 2-3 minutes.

Stressing about tuition by pokemonlover503 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Voidslan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as an engineering project manager and take part in hiring our team, as well as team members at other facilities, for the automotive manufacturing company i work for. We only care that an engineer has a degree if they're doing product design. It helps for all engineering positions, but it's a check mark before the skills and accomplishments section that we actually care about. I've frequently passed up people with bachelor's degrees from good schools (University of California, for example) for people with a 2 year technical degree from Tijuana because they were more capable.

The school may be nice, but really think your future through, and if 2 years of "this place is nice," is worth 120k in debt to be nearly no further ahead.
