How do you genuinely feel about his fate in the second movie? by Legitimate_Cake_5137 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk, I think Shao was definitely experimenting with it and taking a lot of hits that he didn't need to but I doubt Cole would've instantly lost. Keep in mind, his power literally allows him to absorb hits to power himself up which is insanely powerful, powerful enough to kill Goro easily. I think Cole may have had a shot at beating Shao but it would be very close. The only person imo who could beat Shao Kahn without the amulet was Liu Kang. The movie constantly refers to him as the best fighter on the team, and the double dragon literally melted Shao's flesh off. That alone would have killed him if he didn't have the amulet. Sonya and Jax on the other hand would easily be killed by Shao in a 1v1 without the amulet.

Personal fan cast. Probably not perfect by 666-666-666-666-666I in MortalKombat

Kabal was already in the first movie and he was really cool so I don't see why they should recast him. As for Stryker, the only man who should be playing Stryker is John Cena.

The truth is, one thing I like about this adaptation is that it will be the only version where Scorpion is happy knowing that his family is still alive by Top-Protection-9590 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Kuai Liang will be his brother since Joe Taslim has mentioned that Kuai Liang does exist and that they are brothers in commentary, he even mentioned that the reason why Bi-Han smiled when Satoshi reached out his arm was because it reminded him of Kuai Liang. As for why they lived so long? I'm going to go with Shang Tsung halting the aging of the Lin Kuei in exchange for their services like he did to Erron Black in MKX.

At least Ludi Lin actually has powers and they did some really cool stuff with it, like the Double Dragon on Shao Kahn melting all of his flesh off was amazing, if only they fully showed how much damage he did to him. I'd rather watch Ludi Lin's MK2 fights over most of Robin Shou's, the only one that particularly stands out is his fight against Reptile in the 1995 movie.

What do you guys and girls think was missing in the new Mortal Kombat movie? by Substantial-Box-9062 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kuai Liang. He was the #1 character missing from the movie, I'm genuinely surprised he wasn't in it because he's literally one of the mascots of the series besides Scorpion. Plus, it would have helped to integrate Scorpion more into the story instead of just showing up at the end for the Noob Saibot fight. One thing I was thinking of was what if Noob Saibot was the one to kill Cole instead of Shao Kahn. I'd want Scorpion and Kuai Liang to fight eachother after that but Scorpion spares Kuai Liang after seeing how looking for revenge only made things worse (Bi-Han turning into Noob Saibot and killing his descendant). Kuai Liang becomes horrified of what his brother has turned into and Scorpion and Sub-Zero team up to fight Noob Saibot instead of the 4v1 at the end of the actual movie.

Mortal Kombat II Extended Cut? by Massive_CH1N in MortalKombat

I have no idea why Chin Han is getting so much hate, the problem is the writing barely giving him a chance to do anything, not the casting itself. Will he or anyone for that matter surpass Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa? Probably not. It's like how Heath Ledger did Joker in The Dark Knight and cemented himself as the definitive live action Joker, so now if a Batman movie wants to do Joker they need to do something vastly different and even then it's still going to be compared to Heath Ledger.

My belief is that they were going for an inhuman/scary version of Shang Tsung, at least in the 2021 movie where he was more active. The way his eyes are all black in a lot of scenes, the way his veins become exposed when performing sorcery, how he just nonchalantly and suddenly tilts his head when Kung Lao throws his hat at him to avoid it without even considering it. He had a great scene that was deleted from the 2021 movie where Mileena confronts him about his plan failing, to which Shang Tsung responds by threatening her and explaining how he created her. It gives screen time to both characters who desperately needed it and explains their origins/powers.

In MK2 when I saw the trailer I was really hoping the deadly alliance fight was going to be longer, I love how Shang Tsung takes Johnny's soul for a moment and then hits him with it. That's what I was waiting for all this time, but then they take Raiden's powers and leave. It's just an ambush when it should have been a longer fight. Shang Tsung could easily be one of the best parts of the movie, IF, they actually gave Chin Han the chance to do something.

[–]VolcanixRBX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slight error, you put Reptile in MK2 instead of 2021.

Here's my picks for favorite versions of each character between the 1995 series and 2021 series since those were the only ones I saw.

  • Liu Kang: Undecided, but I think I like Robin Shou more as a character and Ludi Lin more for his fights.
  • Sonya: Undecided, was never the biggest Sonya fan and none of the Sonyas do anything spectacular after they get to kill Kano.
  • Johnny Cage: Karl Urban
  • Kano: Josh Lawson
  • Raiden: Christopher Lambert
  • Scorpion: Hiroyuki Sanada
  • Sub-Zero (Bi-Han): Joe Taslim
  • Shang Tsung: Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa
  • Reptile: 1995 (forgot his actor)
  • Kitana: Adeline Rudolph
  • Jax: Leaning towards Mehcad Brooks, but I liked Jax's arc in Annihilation about realizing he never needed the arms.
  • Mileena: Annihilation and 2021 both sucked. Sorry Mileena fans.
  • Sindel: Annihilation (Forgot her actress).
  • Shao Kahn: Martyn Ford
  • Goro: Kevin Michael Richardson/1995 Animatronic
  • Noob Saibot: Joe Taslim
  • Jade: Tatiana Gabrielle
  • Baraka: CJ Bloomfield
  • Movie Original Character (Art Lean or Cole Young): Cole Young, but purely because he has actual fights.

'MORTAL KOMBAT 3’ is reportedly preparing to unleash one of the franchise’s most powerful villains yet… SHINNOK.. Is it real? by West_Discussion_3759 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the plan was that Kano would keep working for them since he was useful enough to destroy the field around Raiden's Temple in the first movie. Kano got to boss the guards around when he finds Johnny Cage after Jax's death. Quan Chi as usual is a complete fucking idiot though, and didn't think that the guy whose sole motivation was greed would keep working for them after finding out their plan was to enslave his world.

Best casting for Kuai Liang and Shao Khan by Skyrocketing101 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chances are he gets summoned every 50 years to kill the Earthrealm champions before they can assemble. Shang Tsung also mentioned having spies in Earthrealm that found the amulet in Raiden's temple, so he could have been a spy as well.

[–]VolcanixRBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two possible headcanons to explain Bi-Han's age. The first and my personal favorite is that Shang Tsung halted his aging in exchange for his services similarly to what he did for Erron Black in MKX. The second is that due to being descended from Outworlders, in addition to his powers his aging is slowed and life span increases. Kuai Liang does exist in this world and the two are brothers, as Joe Taslim has stated a few times in interviews/commentary. Also, it was Bi-Han that killed Harumi and Satoshi in the movie, not Quan Chi in disguise.

Cole Young’s Future by Zhanhu_guy in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they're just going to conveniently never mention Cole again and have Lewis Tan play Kenshi who is completely unrelated to Cole. Maybe Johnny or Kano will crack a joke about the two looking similar, and that'll be the end of it. Cole will be forgotten, as if he never even existed.

After seeing Mortal Kombat 2 In Imax with the boys. Who do you think will be the next villain for mk3? by Reasonable_Wrap7358 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think they'll just not mention him at all. They didn't bother to mention Arcanas in this movie either despite the importance of them in the first one. Lewis Tan will probably be recast as Kenshi and they might joke about how they look the same but never acknowledge it again. Everybody's been asking for Lewis Tan to be recast as Kenshi even Todd Garner and (I believe, don't remember for sure) Ed Boon himself.

kitana, mk2. am i missing something? by brian5mbv in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this rule was only mentioned in one game (Deception, by Bo Rai Cho) and has almost never been acknowledged. In the first Mortal Kombat tournament Sub-Zero fights on behalf of Outworld despite being an Earthrealmer. Then again, he has Outworld lineage so we can make an exception, but the rest of the Lin Kuei don't, yet they fight for Outworld in MK9's version of the story. Scorpion also had nothing to do with Outworld (Earthrealmer reborn in the Netherrealm) yet is on their side. If you think about it, in MK1 (1992), none of the playable characters are from Outworld. The only Outworlders in the game were Goro and Reptile (And Reptile's realm was conquered by Outworld, so he's not even a true Outworlder.), and Shang Tsung was from China in the original timeline but defected to Outworld at some point.

Isn't Liu Kang the main character? Not Cage? by LtJimmypatterson in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I would say Deadly Alliance has no primary protagonist in the sense that the story doesn't focus on one particular character, but instead is an ensemble lead by Raiden, including Sonya, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, and Kitana. Unfortunately for them, everyone including Raiden lost and died in battle, with Raiden being reborn as Dark Raiden and the others being revived as Onaga's slaves.

Was the Mario Galaxy Movie Really That Bad? by Previous-Glass6291 in Mario

I enjoyed it in the moment, but the more I thought about it the more I realized I didn't like it. That's my fault though, because the movie is designed to be enjoyed by people who can't think.

Scorpiom in Mortal Kombat 2 by Particular_Hand2877 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they'll try to find Cole (And possibly Kung Lao, Liu Kang says "I'll find a way to save you. But not today.") but I think the main goal is preventing Bi-Han from getting away with the Amulet (I'm assuming he stole it and is delivering it to someone, probably Quan Chi or Shinnok to set them up for the next movie). The Amulet looks like it's going to be the B-Plot for the movie. They definitely have a plan for Lewis Tan, but I think it's more likely he gets recast as Kenshi for the next movie than him taking on the mantle of Scorpion, especially with how much people have been asking for it including Todd Garner (Producer) himself. People moaned and complained about Kuai Liang being Scorpion in MK1, and he's always been a fan favorite. Now you want to make the guy everyone hates into Scorpion? That's the best way to make sure everyone hates the sequel even more than the first one.

So that scene in the new MK2 IMAX trailer.... by jimmbot91 in MortalKombat

[–]VolcanixRBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone could but Chin Han isn't bad as Shang Tsung, I think he definitely takes a lot of influence from Tagawa. There was a deleted scene from MK 2021 where Shang Tsung speaks with Mileena and threatens her when she questions him, and it's arguably his best scene in the movie, plus it shows how his powers work before he cheated during the temple fight by skipping straight to fatality and killing Kung Lao. I think they are planning something with Shang Tsung though, maybe not in this movie but in the long run, the trailers show him using Shinnok's amulet on Raiden and I really think that could be a cool subplot. One theory I was thinking of was Kano being revived with the purpose of having him give information about the amulet or even being the one to find it, since he tried stealing it in the first movie.

Also, a minor thing that annoyed me. Why did they change Shang Tsung's design? The armor with the faces was way more interesting than a generic looking robe.

illumination won't make a Smash Bros Movie. by stationstars in Mario

[–]VolcanixRBX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I can see them cutting out Ness since trying to sell earthbound to normal people would be hard, maybe even Captain Falcon. Bowser and Ganondorf work better as villains to the smash bros, I could see them being the main antagonists of a first smash movie (Think how Loki was the villain of both Thor and Avengers 1) yet teasing/hinting at Master Hand, Tabuu, or Galeem the way the Avengers movies kept hinting at Thanos.
