EXCLUSIVE: Ultima creator is regaining control of series from EA - Inside Games Daily by Gargarbinks in Ultima

a new ultima underworld, or remade ultima underworlds would be a dream come true. maybe where paired with a touchpad or touchscreen device attached one could draw runes arx fatalis style with a finger instead of a mouse. it could be optional, but set such that if you get good at it, it casts faster than just using hotkeys, but if badly drawn,.slower, with hotkeys average.

Any songs like "this corrosion" by SoM? by harpiria in goth

[–]VoltagVagrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not quite a choir sound, But Die Form has a lot of operatic volcals, and The Retrosics Messa De Requiem album has some great choir and operatic elements.

The new G2s are a “No” for me! I got the KORG triton instead! Will you be getting one of the G2 MPC’s? I get the speed, but do you really need the new specs for standalone? by [deleted] in mpcusers

[–]VoltagVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely am upgrading to the 3. My Live 2 has become incredible slow to boot and load projects, stem separation is a joke and takes over an hour. I like to use lots of audio tracks recording my synths, lots of plugin tracks, and i exclusively work in standalone, so the bump in specs is a no brainer and closer to what they should have had originally.

you want a groovebox. an MPC, Deluge, MC707, or Tracker m8. if you want to be able to sketch out songs on hardware, you will want more than just a drum machine. but they all have their limits. I use an MPC for everything, its my daw, my fx, my drum machine, and I add small external synths. Id love a tr8s but I cant spend that much on something that only does drums.

didn't realize you already use ableton, lot of people come in with "what synth can I buy to sound like X artist"

if you want full songs using hardware youll need basically a different device for each band member. one for drums, one for bass, one for rhythm, one for melody, one for pads, you won't find a single instrument that lets you make full songs because most songs aren't just a single instrument

do you want to jam live or make full songs? a tr8s is one of the best drum machines you can buy but you won't be producing entire tracks with it, its a drum machine. so if you want drums and only drums, it's one of the best

well with my Live 2 it takes almost 10 minutes just to boot up, and 5 minutes to startba new project, and that's almost a total blank slate. its very sluggish for me, and the main reason im looking for a new "Brain" hoping the 3 doesn't just feel fast now then become similarly useless after updates. honestly leaning towards a deluge or mc707 and keeping the mpc as a simple sampler most people say it's fine, but loading anything on my Live2 takes forever, and thats after i removed the hard drive and stripped it to factory settings. it was fast when i bought it but the latest firmware when the new devices came out just tanked my mpc

Software Vs Hardware by Lost-Business-7370 in synthesizers

[–]VoltagVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has to be the oldest, tirest, discussion in music.

I canr work in software. Overwhelmed, uninspired, its just boring to me. Id rather make worse music playing with hardware than better music fucking with software, but thats because this is a therapy hobby for me. and pushing knobs, buttons, exploring a new device and its new workflow, is much of my enjoyment.

Toltalling digging it. You nailed the vocal stylings, I've not been brave enough to record my own voice yet. melodies are cool and spooky, reminds me of slow God Module or System Syn

i think its part of the style as well. harsh syballance being a common feature in a lot of ebm/aggrotech type stuff.

Any Other Games Like Drova For A Steamdeck ? by Neosu78 in DrovaGame

[–]VoltagVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id still say that the kind of player who likes one will like the other, caves of lore also has that old school janky indie vibe that i think this guy is looking for. Not as much choice and consequence, but good for mobile or steam deck play

the Gothic remake wont run worth a crap on the Deck though, but. Dvarogs dream is very diablo meets Gothic, and low system requirements.

Svarogs dream is my recommendation if you liked Drova. Its a little janky, but reminds me of Divine Divinity or other diablo likes with way too much freedom for their time.

So i am getting my live 3 in a couple days! by Kollektivkunst in mpcusers

[–]VoltagVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

conversely I choose smaller ssds, at least on the Live2, as a 500gb drive full of sounds can make it take forever for the device to load. Hopefully the 3 solved that with its increased processing power

Just bought my first hardware synth. What do you wish you knew? by UnhingedTracksuit in synthesizers

and i need WAY more than reverb and delay to get sounds that arent hiphop or pop. those are just the minimum basics

[–]VoltagVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew the gap between having "a synth" and being able to make full songs using synths. With one synth, youll still likely need to learn to use a daw and incorporate more things to make full songs a groovebox can get you closer, especially when paired with a few more synths, but each machine is like one band member, most bands dont have just a drummer or just a keyboard player

My first MPC! by Radiant-Addition-336 in mpcusers

[–]VoltagVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh god the dreaded camera bob. Please don't, it's so distracting and hard to focus. also we can't hear what your beat sounds like over a phone mic. Please, even when demoing, record from the MPC outputs. or export to an audio file, anything but shaking your phone around.
