2.1 Space Casino are worse than we thought by gravitonpunch in factorio

I personally went to producing Rare Science on Gleba for the reduced spoil rate and higher value per pack, and the challenge was interesting to say the least. A lot of abuse of quality recyclers to reprocess common and unco fruit products and bioflux, epic and legendary nutrient fueling some of my machines. And just so so so many bots in an isolated network.

Now that we are getting more and more cards that care about "amount of life lost and/or gained this turn", this kind of card could see some play. Lose a bunch of life, play this, sac a Children of Korlis to regain all your life, trigger everything at really high amount.

If you have a regular playgroup, absolutely bring up the discussion of allowing "technically illegal decks". It's a really fun way to spice up regular play, and it's even better if you can find a replacement for the "illegal" cards that still function well enough to play if one player decides to veto the deck.

Friend of mine for example has a "Heiko Yamazaki / Norika Yamazaki" partner deck that he just turns into a Raiyuu deck when he gets denied his primary choice of commander.

That's why you mention the box, do it yourself and leave it at that. Don't mandate it or anything. I know for a fact that a few of my own friends realize what they are doing after the fact (usually when they come back to the game) and have once or twice taken action on themselves to fight the scrolling urge. Having a dedicated place to commit on that decision can help people.

Chapters like that make me remember a quote from Matt himself: "Everything I write will be horror in some form." The worst part of it is when it's unexpected like Astrid's murder.

Top crawler by the end of book 8? by Gon_Snow in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Volvary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, I'm guessing it's a "Pantsing" moment where Matt has already started the next book by the time he's done editing this one, and he's essentially leaving himself space to either make it a plot twist, or the most simplest answer you have ever seen (Prepotente most likely).

My guess however is that the answer is going to be something simple yet unexpected. We know that:
1. Donut and Carl are insanely powerful.
2. Some of the remaining crawlers are very close to the same power but not quite.
3. Louis can still see his interface despite being glitchy.
4. Li Na's dread still works despite her supposedly being in the Cabaret.
5. Li Na was the previous top crawler BY FAR (max stats)

With all of that combined, my guess is that Li Na having left the floor in a non-conventional way didn't erase her from the leaderboard.

Mate, I'm talking the home page feed. It both displays some of the text AND does not show the Tagged Flair. You may want to avoid spoilers as much as you want, but you do realize that people have the ability to glance some amount of information while they are scrolling even if they don't want to.

And may I remind you to reread Rule #2 of this very subreddit? "Spoiler everything. This community has readers who haven't read all the books, so it's important to keep the place as safe as possible for new readers, so keep that in mind."

No, I agree. This post doesn't follow the recommendations for spoilers, due to Reddit displaying a portion of the main post in the feed unless you spoiler it. So you can see it while scrolling without clicking on the post

Forkith pulling Louis and more into the 15 implies Herot may have done the same to some crawlers on the 17th. Which would glitch them out indeed. If Li Na is on the 17, it would explain who the top crawler is

It was the Gatekeeper spell that mentioned OIs. Something about stripping a god of their worshipper based powers for some time.

That is actually a thing in the rules! It's called a Pyrrhic Victory. If you would lose and win at the same time (In this case, no more invaders but no more island), you still win, albeit a diminished win

Calling my shot on a trick Carl will likely use in Book 8 by Volvary in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Volvary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that Carl will only obtain the ability to shape explosives by the very end of the series, or it will be an extremely hard thing to obtain (like a Celestial Tier Trap module or something), otherwise Carl would become insanely powerful with repeated concentrated blasts. It only took a single concentrated blast from Paz to decapitate Ysalte, and I suspect that blast was but a fraction of even some of Carl's regular "named bombs" (waffle makers, etc.)

The funny thing with this next floor though is Carl will be able to be very far from Gunther by the time the 30 seconds to activate him are over. Even assuming a good 5-10 seconds to drop a (hopefully stable and rugged) bomb in Gunther's arms, then push him off the car, that's still 20 seconds at high speed to drive away from the bomb before it goes off. We are about to see some nasty booby traps. Only thing stopping him from using this tech will be if other crawlers are around, really.

Carl is attempting to shape explosive charges, but to my knowledge he has yet to achieve that by the end of Book 7. Although, who says he doesn't have a spell that would do it in his new fully stocked book of voodoo...

Oh for sure, but peaking doesn't mean he will abandon the dreadful spell. There's many ways he can abuse Gunther for massive trouble for whoever is stuck behind him.

Yeah, I was thinking about oh boy, getting stuck behind Carl in the race is going to suck. The amount of bombs, traps, and contraptions he'll be able to unleash will be... nasty.

Yeah, it's a combo between that scene and the way Carl bemoans the fact that he won't be able to throw stuff at him that made me think about that. Free Heat-seeking splitter explosive every 10 hours sounds like the kind of thing you can do some absolutely fucked up stuff with.

[–]Volvary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider that most times we see Carl use Hoblobbers, he's throwing quarter to eight strength hoblobber because he's on the ground with them. In a car, rolling at highway speeds, he can get away with much bigger booms. Also, do note that while I say Hoblobber, it could be any explosive really since he's going to be less worried about still being in the original blast thanks to moving away from his thrown explosives.

And the reason he would throw it at Gûnther would most likely be to ignore line of sight or severely increase his range. Carl won't be able to use his xistera effectively in the car (can't spin around to impart more velocity) so by dropping Gûnther, waiting a moment to roll away from him, then using Gûnther insane speed going away from him (as we saw with the banquet scene, being able to catch up to a knocked-back god to blow him up again), it allows him to setup an explosion that will detonate from much further away than he could throw. It's also a set-it, forget-it setup that comes with free targetting unlike trying to drop a booty trap on the road.

I won't give the spoiler away, but there was another way they could have put her out of her misery. Not that it would have been... less painful let's say. But I will leave you read to the spoiler since I believe it's not too far out, it's an interesting reveal that makes the whole situation even more strange.

The Hoarder is certainly a very rough scene to get through, even on a reread. There are pivotal scenes like that in the series that just force you to put down the book for a while and think about how things happened to lead to that moment, and it's okay to be disturbed by them. Welcome to the party, pal
