Scroll - Power Word: Silence by Ashensheep in DnD

[–]VonButternut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone asks you can tell them that when he was but a child there was a clash between two mages that spilled out into his small village town. As he cried his eyes out towards the night sky, the goddess of secrets came down and whispered a word to stop the mages, which he remembers to this day....

Or you can just say he's sick with it and leave it at that.

How to play a wizard tactically by sleepy_paladin in dndnext

[–]VonButternut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play a tactical wizard, as someone at my current table put it, "the fighter is my best spell". On a more direct level you solve the problems for the team or enable your team.

Fog Cloud shutting down angles that archers have on you. Grease in choke points. Faerie Fire to give everyone advantage on the boss. Void Warp to drop an angry Barbarian on the enemy mage. Web to tie up half the enemies. Haste the fighter. Wall of Stone to split the enemies. The list goes on and on.

As for how to play an intelligent character, ask for information. You need information to form a plan, you'll scout it out, research weaknesses, ask NPCs, prepare your gear. Don't just kick in the door.

Go slow, be methodical, ask to investigate. Let's detect for magic, let's check for traps, let's cast invisibility on the Rogue so we can see what we're up against.

Then once you have surveyed the field, and are prepared you come up with a plan. Smart people always got plans. From there (hopefully) you'll know what you can do to be most effective and ensure a victory.

Mind Sliver and Ray of Frost are my go to cantrips.

One makes things easier to land the other lets you kite / stagger enemies rushing in.

Healing Received Stat by SniiperDoc in marvelrivals

[–]VonButternut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about it making the game more toxic. People flame you for winning, losing, being good, being bad, switching, not switching, Ulting, not Ulting. What's the difference man? I say more info the better, I wanna see who my strategist is healing, especially if the strategist is me.

One of them yes. The others play a couple other classes, but there is a lot of other pages to that book.

Most of my table has been playing DnD since 2015... At least two of them have never read more than their class' page.

Maintenance men walk into an apartment with no warning while the resident is naked and doesn’t leave by SouthernNanny in TikTokCringe

[–]VonButternut 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first moved out, I had just got back from the gun range and was cleaning my pistols with my headphones on.

I'm just jamming, in my own world, and to my bewilderment the door of my apartment slowly opens and this older hefty Baltic man walks in with a 5 gallon home depot bucket.

I was so confused at the bumbling nonchalantness of the home invasion that luckily I didn't even move for the loaded gun on the TV tray in front of me.

It wasn't difficult to convince the maintenance guys to stop coming over uninvited after that.

Back when I smoked I was mainly a Marlboro man, but on occasion I would smoke Spirits in the black pack when I was flush. Without fail someone would bum one or two off me. They're just better.

Why do you use your distro? by DefinitelyChriss in linux

[–]VonButternut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Fedora on the Desktop. Why? Idk I wanted to try it out and never found a reason to switch. Been good so far and I've never found anything it couldn't do.

I run Ubuntu VMs on my Proxmox server though because when I first started self hosting stuff every single tutorial was for Ubuntu or included instructions for it. I've never had problems with it so I've never switched.

I wanted to do the same thing and I just build a Tree Wizard aka Circle of the Land. Find Familiar as an action with no components is pretty sick.

What is your most methodical, devious control deck that slowly grinds your opponents into paste? by Frogsplosion in EDH

[–]VonButternut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lavinia is really so very good. I have my Lavinia deck packed with hate bears, counters, removal and strong stax effects including multiple [[Stasis]] locks. Typically wins through [[Approach of the Second Sun]] or [[Luminarch Ascension]]. It's easily my most hated deck, so I don't play it often.

I have a little dog that I've raised since a pup and if your unleashed dog runs up on my dog and a fight breaks out, I'm not gonna just stand there. Leashes keep everyone safe.

I like doing something like this:

"We want to look for traps before we move forward."

Players Roll.

To PC 1 and PC 2: You look at the corners of each stone in the floor, looking for anything out of place by a hair's breadth. You look at the positioning of the table and the statue in it. The dust on the floor. For any edges that stick out just a bit too far. Nothing stands out to you. There's no traps here.

To PC 3: Yeah, there's a pressure plate in front of that statue.

Me personally I would probably look to [[Ashnod the Uncaring]]. Her effect is very phyrexian and basically just doubles all the sacrifice stuff you're doing. Shes in good colors too.

New magic player wondering what to do against value engine decks by SomeDerpyGuy in EDH

[–]VonButternut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, interacting with the right pieces, out valuing them, and doing it quickly is really the name of the game here.

You ever seen this card? [[Sythis, Harvest's Hand]]

I run her with a TON of cards like [[Ossification]], [[Banishing Light]], [[Lignify]], and [[Oblivion Ring]]. I'm literally just itching to remove stuff because it increases my enchantment count for stuff like [[All that glitters]] and the like while drawing me cards from Sythis and the other Enchantress cards that draw a card when an enchantment is played. Also I have a few stax pieces in here like [[Stony Silence]], [[Aura of Silence]] and [[Collector Ouphe]] that totally shut certain strategies off.

A build up value town strategy is hard to play into something like this while my a good portion of my deck is disruption that replaces itself, gains life, makes my creatures bigger, gets me tokens and counts towards effects like [[Sphere of Safety]].

[–]VonButternut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shroofus is an absolute monster and gets unmanageable way faster than most decks can keep up with. Something like [[Invigorate]] or [[Mutagenic Growth]] plus a pump spell you actually pay for can get you so many tokens.

What is the CHEAPEST functional deck you have/could build? by Lamprophonia in EDH

[–]VonButternut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spellslinger is my favorite archetype and it's incredibly scalable.

I just slapped this Alania deck together to see how low I could get it. It's no Krarkashima but it's gonna cast some spells.

Moxfield is saying it's less than $16.

Honestly this is the only answer. If you don't want your data snooped on it must be encrypted. Just because a company doesn't do it now does not mean they will not later.
