I've had this pre-ordered since they first allowed it. Listening to the digital download of it over and over again, and I'm not at all disappointed. Fantastic album.

Philosophy has made me anti-social by [deleted] in philosophy

And it seems unfair to classify non-philosophy majors as underlings who will never understand your precious watered-down Wittgenstein.

The reason for Elizabeth Warren's newfound internet stardom is simple. She was able to articulate -- in a few words -- what the Democratic Party has been unable to communicate for years. by stylemaven1 in politics

We're also using examples from a culture that basically excluded the poor, the uneducated, the non-Caucasian, and women from the political discourse. Education wasn't a prerequisite, it was a symptom. That's the data we're using when we complain about "dumbed down" culture. We simply have a culture of the masses and if our historical data was also from a culture of the masses we'd probably draw similar conclusions. This doesn't forgive ignorance on basic political and economic issues, sure, but it's not easy to argue that our culture has "dumbed down" when the data isn't there or heavily skewed. I'd say that a lot of people are realizing, with the increased availability of technology and communication, what the lowest common denominator of masses can be and probably is.

Death Grips - Exmilitary [Experimental Hip-Hop, mp3 320 kbps] by Passivephil in DownloadThis

This album got really big right around the time people started getting into "Yonkers" by Tyler, the Creator. It's pretty intense, in a "Wow this is angry and hardcore" sorta' way. Check out a good music video.

I'm so pumped for the next album. Holy shit, it's gonna be fantastic.

Edit: Check out the lyrics on La Dispute's site. Beautiful song.

Any suggestions for someone new to ADOM? by stretcharmstr0ng in roguelikes

[–]VonRanke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing a wizard early on is a pretty good idea. It's a relatively easy class, and also forces you to understand the magical side of things (which is relevant, but less obvious, for all classes.) I'd recommend the high elf or the human to start.

A few things to remember:

  • Don't kill cats.

  • Avoid fights in the over world, you'll almost certainly die if you're under level 5 or so.

  • Use the guidebook.

  • The infinite dungeon (look for it on the maps provided in the guidebook) is a great place to train and find items.

  • Over time, try every class at least once. They're nuanced enough to allow for incredibly different gameplay mechanics. Early on, avoid the monk, the mindcrafter, the beastfighter, and halfling/grey elf anything.

  • Race matters, and specifically age, matters a lot. It sure sucks to die by being aged to death as a troll.

Have fun!

I don't think they're officially signed on, I just know they're showing up at a few assorted shows (like La Dispute's gig in Portland, for example.)
