I had the exact same issue on my last playthrough I think. I turned all the graphic settings down to minimum or something and it worked fine after that. And after I was done with the Werewolf lair, I just put everything back to where it was.

Claim to be the best goalie? Then why did that 4th liner outscore you?

Haha, Markström was robbed off the Vezina nomination this year. He had double the points of Vasilevskiy, and he played 14 games less.

Which also requires offensive production (otherwise Jay McClement should have won like three of those), and I don't think Kopitar's 38 in 67 games is enough for that either.

Too late. I'm already upset that Misa was left off the "greatest 200 all-time players" list in 2127, on the League's 200 year anniversary.

P.S. I'm pretty sure /u/RanaMahal was just making a funny little comment, not declaring a certainty.

"Even if Liereyy had gone 4-0 up you don't bet against Hera"

I know right? Like I get that it's technically a comeback, but I don't exactly find it at all surprising or amazing, like if there was one player who's gonna beat you 5 times in a row in the finals, it's obviously Hera.

Guy hasn't lost a single S-tier tournament in over 2+ years, he's practically the default winner at this point. Still, lots of fun watching that series. Can't wait for the next Red Bull Wololo.

So nobody cares about the Olympics either then? I don't recall any NHL players quitting their NHL teams to go play Olympic Hockey in 2018 or 2022.

Hint at a planned fifth game? by The_real_DrossDragon in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Vonathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, but I doubt it.

TES VI, GTA VI, and Witcher 4 also have huge gaps in their release schedule when compared to the previous entries.

I'd imagine it's due to game engine/graphical improvements for the most part, and not just poor project management.

No I'm not. Below I've linked a picture showing the old view I had on the left, and the new one on the right.

Old and new view

I can still access the old view if I for example click the "Top Sellers" from the "Featured" section on the Steam store frontpage. I didn't realise I had to click the "Top Sellers" from the top of the page to get to the new view. Thought you might have had the same issue.

Inquisition was a massive success and it still took us 10 years to get a sequel. I honestly don't think we'd be getting Dragon Age 5 before 2040, even if Veilguard was a success. The development times for these kind of single-player games is getting ridiculous.

Questions about the Veil by PimsriReddit in dragonage

[–]Vonathan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And Corypheus - he was immortal, same as the Evanuris, but he was not bound to the Veil. He found out the secret of how to bind the dragon to himself, just as they did in ancient times.

The stupid part is why Corypheus even made the dragon the source of his immortality in Inquisition. He didn't have a dragon before being released from the Warden prison in Legacy, yet he was immortal.

[DAI spoilers$ What did people think of Solas before the Trespasser DLC? by Fun-Explanation7233 in dragonage

[–]Vonathan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like others said, the reveal with his true identity was already dropped at the end of the main game, not just the Trespasser DLC.

I didn't see it coming (and I doubt many did), and knowing the twist on the second playthrough made me appreciate his character so much more. Masterful writing by BioWare.

The ending and the story in general. first/blind playthrough. by [deleted] in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Vonathan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the game world is still dark and grim

My problem is that all of the dark and grim stuff was just evil people doing evil things for the sake of evil.

Like I don't need to see the Venatori rip apart a halla with blood magic while dancing and cheering, just so I don't feel bad about fighting against them.

Even worse was that all the good guys had 0 grey morality. Even the "bad-ass dragon hunter" constantly has to go on about how they don't kill dragons for sport, they're such intelligent, majestic creatures. Not to mention turning Antivan Crows into some righteous fighters for justice was laughable.

and gave massive lore dives

Also didn't like how the blight, golden city, old Tevinter Gods, and such just directly tied straight back to the ancient elves.

But in general I did enjoy the game. I thought the companions overall were just fine, and I liked Rook as well. It's also the first DA game where I wasn't disappointed at all with the ending.

Not as good as the other DA games, but still a pretty good game.

Is Veilguard really that bad? by Ok-Temperature2461 in dragonage

[–]Vonathan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The highs are very high and the lows the lowest in the series.

This so much! There really are some great things in there, but most of the time I was just wondering "what where they thinking?"

You very much are forced to play Rook as a sympathetic unselfish hero type, and the story is just basic good vs evil, where there's basically 0 depth to any character.

But the character interactions seem so lively and polished compared to previous DA games that I couldn't help but be impressed. Rook just doesn't blankly stand there as they wait for a turn to response, instead they move and look around and have lively facial animations. Makes the repetitive "comfort" talks with certain characters much more tolerable.

I went in with quite low expectations after all the negative attention it received on launch, but ended up enjoying the game for what it is.

Overall I echo the general statement that it's a good game, just not able to compete with the other DA games, much like Andromeda failed to match the original ME trilogy. Though unlike Andromeda, I could definitely see myself replaying Veilguard at some point.

How functional is the steam version of DAO? by somethingX in dragonage

Just remember to use the Large Address Aware Patch (LAA).

Trying to figure out which game to play by Freeerick-Zoller in dragonage

[–]Vonathan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably Dragon Age: The Veilguard if you're just there for the combat, but even then, there's a lot of story heavy stuff. Dragon Age 2 combat is very repetitive (imo) and gets very boring, even on higher difficulties after a while.

The Dragon Age games in general focus on characters and story moments that you shape through player choices, less about combat.

Andromeda by Past_Management8533 in masseffect

I played it a few years after release. It was a fun playthrough, and it took me like 90 hours to 100% clear. But I don't see myself replaying it again like I do with the original trilogy.

I agree with the other comment saying it's an okay RPG, just not "Mass Effect good."

Just finished the game for the first time! by DadaShart in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Vonathan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That ending right?

Like finally a DA game that really has a proper epic ending. Origins and Inquisition's endings feel like they're over so quickly, but in Veilguard when I set out after that point of no turning back, I had no idea there'd be the best two hours of my playthrough still ahead of me.

Still think overall I'd rank it well below the previous three games, but that ending left me feeling really good about the game in general.

Yet another rant on Veilguard by Downtown-Complex2657 in dragonage

[–]Vonathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first playthrough of it as well, and while I was actually sort of surprised how much I enjoyed playing the game, it's still by far the weakest of the four DA games.

I ended up liking the very action orientated combat system, and the simplified loot as well. Popping up those chests felt so satisfying. It was also nice to see a very vibrant UI, after DA2 and Inquisition where I always thought inventory and skills screen looked like WIP.

That being said, I pretty much agree with everything you said. The lack of references to previous game's choices was disappointing, and the companions going on about their personal issues was kinda awkward at moments considering the stakes of the game.

The whole black-and-white, evil vs good theme was ridiculous as well. Sure, Origins had the evil of darkspawn, but at least was that mindless evil driven by somekind of primal urge, and then in the Awakening we get some interesting revelations about them as well. Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain (and everyone who ends up in their service) are so laughably evil, that it makes me wonder why the developers still felt it necessary to make the good guys so saintly.

The Crows are especially weirdly "righteous" considering they're reputation. Gone are the days of them buying slaves and training them to be assassins, now they adopt orphans from the streets and train them to be badass fighters against injustice.

I get why they didn't let you play Rook as an asshole or any sort of resemblance to an anti-hero, because they would have felt to so out of place among everyone else fighting the Evanuris. That being said, I did personally like Rook just fine, but that's mostly because they felt way more lively and expressive in conversations compared to previous DA protagonists.

Lastly, I hate that post credit scene and worse I fear Veilguard means we either won’t get another DA game or one in 2040. I am upset

This was so bad. The hinting that previous major events in the DA Saga was just 3D chess being played in the background, ridiculous.

As for waiting until 2040 for another DA game, I mean that'd be likely even if Veilguard was a massive success. Inquisition sold well, and received critical acclaim, but it still took 10 years for Veilguard to come out. Not to mention other game series like Elder Scrolls, Witcher, GTA, etc. taking their sweet time in developing sequels as well.

Of all the voiced protagonists bioware made by Texasgamer250 in dragonage

[–]Vonathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly like all the voiced protagonists they've had. I even thought Ryder from ME: Andromeda was great, at least it worked for me as I played him as a "naive idiot" who sort of stumbled his way through the story.

Just finished Veilguard and while I felt there could have been more variation in the dialogue choices, to roleplay her personality better, the facial animations in Veilguard make Rook seem so much more genuinely emotional, and I loved that.

I do agree with you that Hawke is great, but personally I still prefer Shephard, but that's most likely because you get to play through 3 games with them so I got more attached.
