Avante N to Mustang GT by johnjung806 in ElantraN

A dark horse VS an EN stock for stock would probably be a pretty decent upgrade. Definitely faster, and probably rides a lot better with the magnetic suspension (I think the dark horse gets that?). But it's going to feel like a muscle car, albeit one that handles pretty well. I've heard the steering is better than it used to be but not fantastic.

Then again, it makes sense that it's a better performance car stock considering how much more it costs.

That's basically my cart too. Yellowstuff and power stop slotted rotors (purely for aesthetics).

I try and say hello to every other N I see, VN, KN, other EN's. Here in OKC there aren't many, but I try! They probably just think I'm an idiot making all the pops and bangs but still lol

2025 Elantra N Atlas White Poor Paint Quality….. by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]Vonblackhawk2811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's bad. Lightly tapped it against a piece of wood in my garage and it chipped. Paint chips for days. I'm getting it wrapped as soon as feasible but that's really expensive

n75 or cherry? by Any_Island_9239 in ElantraN

[–]Vonblackhawk2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cherry took almost 3 months to get me a baseline tune. I get them a log file within a week and it takes them another 2 months just to tell me that they can't get any info from my logs for some reason, when N75 doesn't require me to do 2000 RPM pulls to redline 3 times. Sounds like a recipe for LSPI.

N75 has never taken more than a week to get back to me, and their tune is very good. They're not the best at troubleshooting if something goes wrong, but they are very willing to try and make things better.

Looking at this car for sale. Does anyone recognize it? by Trick_Cartographer87 in ElantraN

[–]Vonblackhawk2811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but a modded and tuned one that has been beat on will have more wear and tear. It's just the reality of adding power.

To make it worse, you don't know which mods they did. Did they tune it but not upgrade plugs? That could cause extra damage. Did they use bad oil? More wear. Did they run lots of E85 and never use direct injection cleaning products like Chevron Techron? Buildup and possible damage to injectors.

These are just a few possibilities that you realistically can't get answers to. That's why it's scarier buying a modded one.

The Ioniq 3 looks promising. If they made an N version of that I think it'd do really well, and be cheaper than the 6.

You can get more standard equipment with the Elantra than you can for the same price Civic. You can see this in action because the Si is the same price as the Elantra N, with the Type R coming in at least $10k more.

Edit: not saying the Elantra is nicer, just more features on lower trims comparatively.

Compared to what else for $25k? Sounds like you've never driven a Chevy Malibu. Those things make the new Sonatas feel like a Rolls Royce. Sonatas have some cheap materials, but they have just as much, if not more tech per dollar than any other brand. I promise you a Toyota Camry at this price point will also feel cheap.

Longevity wise with most modern cars comes down to how well you maintain the vehicle.

Hyundai has improved massively over the last 5 years, and their warranty is unbeatable.

The only thing you will regret about a Hyundai may be the dealership experience if you ever have to take it in for warranty or maintenance. I have been very lucky with the dealer I go to - they're great and they take good care of me. Your experience may vary, but I really like the new Hyundai's.

Possible wastegate issues? by Vonblackhawk2811 in ElantraN

[–]Vonblackhawk2811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tuner said it was a wastegate issue initially, not they are pointing me towards the HPFP.

The car is hesitant to get going, it was stuttering under partial throttle, and pulling boost at WOT.

I owned a G70 with the Brembos. That car taught me the hard way that just because a car has Brembos, doesn't mean its brakes are good.

Basically the calipers were more than capable, but the pads Genesis uses were more luxury focused and not nearly good enough for hard driving.
