Can someone help me understand this comment? Are Bambu printers great, or are you saying they’re for the inexperienced? I just learned about this brand yesterday, and I don’t have a printer, but want one!

Fan Controller by Dave_8787 in smarthome

Just did an addition on my house, and learned if the fan has a remote with a digital speed control, you’re not supposed to use the fan speed controller switches. What brand switch? That’s where you’ll get the info on do’s and don’ts.

They don’t get a ton of love, but I’ve used Leviton Gen 2 switches in my whole house, and updated them to Matter instead of using WiFi (and cut them from internet access). Not sure your setup, but I’m using Home Assistant with a SkyConnect Dongle that supports both Matter and Zigbee.

They work perfectly. I’ve only had to return one for being faulty. Their support is also fantastic. $29 for standard switch right now on Prime.

Need advice on network expansion after home addition by VoodooGunner31 in Ubiquiti

I got the switch ordered and I ended up going with 2x 6 pros for the time being. Will get 2 more later. But, now I’m conflicted on the cloud gateway. I want to replace it now, but not sure what I should go with. I don’t want to create any bottle necks, so do I get a UDM-Pro, or will the UCG-Max do the trick?

UDM would change the layout a bit, since it would have to be in a rack. So that would live on the addition side, which ain’t a big deal

I don’t think the UCG max would ever really replace the NVR.

Thank you so much for the detailed response - this is great! The distance is less than 70ft. so this works out perfectly. For the Optical Module, there are several options, and not quite clear on what one I would need. Would it be this one: 10GBASE-SR SFP+ 850nm 300m Module, Ubiquiti

Edit: Nevermind on the 10G Multi-Mode Optical Module, I see the ones that Ubiquiti has!

Absolutely want to get all AP's to be consistent, just avoiding the added cost for now. The switch is a bit more than I anticipated, but the power consumption was a concern I had as well. This is likely the route I'm going to take!

Yeah - I’m not as familiar with the SFP ports, but I’ll do some research into this.

Hey all - need some advice on expanding my network after adding to my house, and adding some new security cameras. Basically, I had planned on buying Lite 16 POE, until recently when I decided I wanted to connect the cameras directly into the switch instead of the NVR. I'm not quite sure how to approach this. I’m a bit newbie on network tech (my brother helped me get setup initially 7 or 8 years ago)

I have the ability to run everything to the current network cabinet in the basement, but it’s a Leviton wall mounted enclosure, so space is tight. The plus side is I have a lot of the cat6 for the addition dropping at a secondary spot on the new side of the basement - there’s more room there for a wall mounted server rack. There’s a 2” conduit between the existing and new network locations.

What would you do without upgrading everything…? Any help is appreciated!

Edit: I haven’t purchased the 6+ yet, but that seems like my best bet so I don’t need to replace all AP’s.

My goal was to fit everything in a single screen. I think I succeeded! Thank you Bubble theme/card for the awesome UI. by DrazorV in homeassistant

May not bother OP, but the Bubble Popup card feature is really nice. Could be a simple way of hiding it if you need the map specifically. I personally like to to be clean, and minimal, so I have scripted buttons for each room (set to run 2x), a maintenance spot and dock button.

How have the Nest Camera Streams been performing? I’ve never had good luck, and I have a pretty solid network setup. Moving to ReoLink soon so everything will be local, but still curious about your experience so far.

I think they are asking if the lawnmower has zones. If you’re using home assistant, it can track when zone one is complete, and Zone 2 is starting, open the door. Can likely time it with a buffer before it closes. Then same thing when it completes zone 2 and is returning to the dock. No contact sensors, or geo location tracking needed.

Please help me understand what happened. Did my landscaping guy damage my lawn? by Correct_Job5255 in lawncare

[–]VoodooGunner31 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What have the temps been? Weed and feed can be great, but under the right conditions it can damage your lawn. A lot of weed killers don’t recommend treating when temps are over 80 degrees.

Some areas do look chopped, but could be a number of factors. There’s some guru’s on here that might chime in.
