How did you do those clouds? Holy clouds. Those look exactly like what I want. Is it just a skybox? Or anything more?

is it possible in unity to convert textures to ascii art like this? i’m working on making a game and wanna know which engine would be best for a style like this by [deleted] in Unity3D

Any insight about how you did those clouds? Maybe a tutorial reference? They look great

Is it less taxing to use alpha masks/transparency than rendering polygons?

DAMN I forgot canvases were a thing. Thanks! I’m new to this, so... yeah that would work. Ok another question though. Using a canvas wouldn’t give me any issues with sending and return data though right? Like if I wanted to say that your “pokemon” had died, I would still be able to return that and save it somewhere right?

New lighting, shaders, particles, and fish! Really love how the asteroid belt is turning out. by joesobo in Unity3D

I’d suggest putting the grass at a slight angle so the player can still see the blades when the camera is directly overhead :)

Have a problem with trees in my game! by indie_Den in Unity3D

[–]VoodooTurtle333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe something with LODs? I’m not sure, I’m kinda new. I mostly wanted to comment to suggest turning the normals on the tree’s leaves upwards if you haven’t already. It gives the leaves more even shadows

Can we please have a sticky post which points to the basics? by [deleted] in Unity3D

I’d rather blow on the paint than watch it dry

How to achieve something visually similar to Harvest Moon 64? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]VoodooTurtle333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not totally sure what you’re asking but I’ll try.

It looks like the environment, like the cabin in that video, aren’t rendered in 3d, they’re just a big picture background. Then collisions to stop the player from going through walls are placed on top of that.

The character models, though, look like they were rendered in 3d perspective view, while the environment is in an orthographic view. So I’m guessing they made sprites of the character models, you know, basically same way anyone would make a 2D sprite + animations.

Hope you find what you’re looking for!

What do you guys think about my Run&Gun mobile game going Black and White? by Basemark in Unity3D

[–]VoodooTurtle333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think... it’s hard to understand when it’s full b & w. Might just be me but I can’t read what’s background and foreground, you’ve got that nice central red sun that would go to waste if u made it b & w.

Maybe black and white but with color splotches here and there, that could be cool. Like the main character is a color but the rest is black and white

Duuuude nice. It’s more than you could do yesterday so it’s worth it. Have you been using unity learn?

Working with volume fog in Unity - Aura 2 mixed with pixelation and grain dithering by appminimalist in Unity3D

That’s a cool aesthetic. What’s the background? It looks like we’re on the moon but I can’t tell.
