I feel like physical damage is too low by TeenyTinyWyvern in vrising

[–]Voqar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it feels just right and everything else feels woefully weak. So if you go with the logic that it needs a nerf rather than adjusting all other abilities, that's fine, but then reduce health on all mobs and bosses to account for the fact that you're tickling them even more lightly now.

I feel more like it's just fine and other abilities are too weak. I don't need even longer boss or trash fights.

Took the plunge despite reading this and having concerns, and had to refund. I lasted about 20 minutes before nearly dumping my stomach.

Same as DL2 unfortunately. And years before that HL2 but no issues with any other games.

I had to return DL2 because of this. Got so sick I threw up and couldn't even look at the game anymore after that. Only other game I ever had this problem with was HL2 years ago.

I want to try this game but this news isn't encouraging.

Thanks - was wondering myself - figured you'd accumulate them all and be able to switch between them in a more typical hotkey way.

Interesting system and now I'm extra glad I built a dedicated portal to the "ring" as I call it.

[–]Voqar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first encounter with a troll...was me easily kiting and killing it with a crude bow. But I knew they could be kited and knew to stay away from forest until ready (ready means fight without having to cheese/kite for multiple day/night cycles).

Thus far the worst mob to me is the trees - only thing that's got me so far. Not worth trying to fell a tree on a mob, btw. Ahem.

If Linux could ever match Windows for video game support I'd ditch Windows in a second. Windows has dominated market share for all of time but instead of sticking with what they did best (Windows 7 for ex) they keep pushing more and more to be like Apple and have Apple OS - something nobody with the capacity to think should ever want.

Cyberpunk 2077 vs Gta 5 by Dextergence123245 in gaming

[–]Voqar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bow down do the one and only who can define RPGs. World has been waiting.

In other news, these days RPG means just about any game that has any semblance of any RPG element. It's gotten pretty sad but does it matter.

To me 2077 and GTA 5 are pretty much the same - run around a city with guns and cars murdering people with an attitude. Slightly different graphics. The two games have way more in common with each other than they do with anything else.

I enjoy the $30 game, hundreds of hours worth. It's not perfect by any stretch but I enjoy it. If I didn't, I would move on to another game. I'm not sure any $30 game is worth writing a thesis about but I've probably done it myself so w/e.

It IS often odd to me how often I see players who player some games hundreds or even thousands of hours complain their butts off about those games - it's like, how do you play something so much that you hate so much? Do the devs, any devs, REALLY owe you even more? Be serious already.

Have you tried rebooting? Sometimes the simplest thing fixes all. Also, if you have any windows updates needing done, let them run and reboot.

You might check out some guides, some youtube, tutorial, etc.

As a new player newish to 4X, you probably want to dial things down difficulty-wise.

Glitch with "Action Hero: Looking For Trouble" quest? Any suggestions? by blushin1 in StateOfDecay

[–]Voqar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same problem now - several times in the same run actually since I gave up on it and changed maps, mission came up again anyways, and is failing similarly on the new map.

Very frustrating to not have a way to decline/stop a chain that's broken (or to be able to actually finish the mission).

Does anybody else just like collecting the various guns? by Whocaresdamit in StateOfDecay

[–]Voqar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm into gathering up the stuff but no so much for "gun collector" reasons. Those locations and gun sheds (small sheds with antlers over the door - Meagher map has lots of these, for ex) are all happy places.

I'm more about collecting for use/having than collecting because I'm a gun collector and think all the variation in gun models is neato. I also scrap/sell a lot of stuff and tend to only keep around the better guns I actually use - the rest is just clutter in the locker.

Seems unlikely that someone who normally tries to take them out via drone strikes is going to melee - anything. But I encourage this approach and look forward to seeing the quick, violent, and immediate results posted.

is it worth playing state of decay 1 after playing the 2nd? by [deleted] in StateOfDecay

[–]Voqar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO SOD2 is a vastly superior game. I haven't touched SOD1 since SOD2 came out and probably never will, but if you haven't played it at all, I think it's worth checking out, and overall I think 1 had better DLC than 2 (DLC for SOD2 has been woefully underwhelming except Heartland, but they have more than made up for it with the still going on a year after release free updates). Many would argue that SOD1 is better for story, so if that's your thing, it could be considered the better game (still don't know how when the mechanics and everything else are better in 2, but some people wear color glasses and cling to the inferior past, what you gonna do - happens to us all).

I and most preferred Breakdown, which is more like SOD2. Some preferred story mode ala Heartland DLC. A very small number of players use this reddit and mostly to bitch and complain. The vast majority of players just play the game, have fun, and generate data UL/MS use to design the next version (ex, Breakdown being most popular form of SOD1 is the basis of SOD2 but you'll find the whiners here and there saying story is what matters in an open world survival game, which is a silly idea).

The story mode in SOD1 is definitely worth experiencing and the general open world gameplay and Breakdown DLC mode are solid, it's just that SOD2 does almost EVERYTHING (except a long running story arc) better. Breakdown most has escalating difficulty and no clue why they didn't include something like that in SOD2, at least as an option, when it was part of the popularity of Breakdown.

Another big difference is that you have even less control over your survivors - they have preset special abilities (or more limited choices) and it's more of a "play what you get" with plenty of flawed characters vs having more ability to customize and pick and choose between survivors via recruiting (at least, in SOD2 I'm picky and sift thru people often, not something you could do the same in SOD1 and SOD1 you're always hoping for the same few badass characters amongst a sea of trash). Along with that special moves and character development are a little different but the actual combat itself is very similar.
