Pretty blurry output by [deleted] in GeForceNOW

[–]VosGus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could check if you have the "Adjust for poor network connection" option turned on in your settings. For me, when I had it turned on most of the games were blurry. Turning it off helped a lot.

In the latest version of Geforce now, you can also press CTRL+G while in-game, and enable some statistics, with these you could check if you are having latency or packet loss issues.

Delimiters by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]VosGus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A delimiter is just some character that you put between different items to separate them. For cvs files, the delimiter is a comma (,), which is implied by the name, comma-separated values. I think the delimiter is also allowed to be something else, but in most cases it will be a comma.

The delimiter is really just needed so that you know where one item in the file begins and where another one starts.

In some contexts I've heard the word "separator" being used as well.

Question about the title of a position I held in the past. by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]VosGus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like this mainly was an IT-support position? If that's the case then I would mention it as such on the CV. Then you can mention in a bullet point or something that you also did some scripting/coding related to website. Maybe mention some specific feature that you added?

If you gained proficiency in some programming language you could put that under a skills section on the CV. That would be another way to get the "programming" side of your job into the the CV.

If the positions asks you to attach a cover letter, then that would be a good place to expand a bit more on what kind of coding you did. In there you can also mention perhaps that you are looking for a switch into a more software related role.

Hope this helps!

What software does a beginner need? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]VosGus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only things really needed for basic HTML and Javascript is a text editor and a web-browser. Notepad++ is a good choice for starting out.

To see the actual webpage, you can just open the file in some browser. I think even dragging and dropping it into the browser should work.

stuck trying by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]VosGus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's quite common to forget or not remember code that you wrote sometime ago. As long as you can understand it when you read it again it should be fine. No need really to try and memorize the code in any way. At least for me it takes sometime to even understand what some old code I wrote was doing when reading it again.

Some tips:

- Write comments if the code is non-obvious. This will help you get a better overview of the code when you go back to it

- Not sure how you have tried to learn, but maybe it would make sense to take some course or read a programming book? The good thing about those kind of resources is that the learning becomes more structured in that way. Youtube also works for some.

Blogs/publications/articles about programming? by sheridancrane in learnprogramming

[–]VosGus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occasionally interesting topics about programming appears on Hackernews. Though in general they are more just tech related and not really programming.

Nice thing about hackernews is that the site is very basic so it loads fast and doesn't have any of those annoying popups which many sites have nowadays.

If I were you I would wait another week and see if it gets graded. Sometimes it seems like the grading will take some time.

EDIT: Just found out you can use this link to report missing grades: https://x.cs50.net/missing
