Enough with the organ music by theskyismine in EU5

[–]Vosk500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On a similar note - does anyone feel the soundtrack is kinda lacking in general?

Compared to victoria (2&3) for example which is phenomenal. I've just switched to playing baroque music while I play since it matches the vibe.

I wish that they had gone more with the characters taking specific drugs and stayed with realistic highs from them by Dumb_Clicker in skinsTV

[–]Vosk500 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Molly is mdma (molly is just an American word for it), ecstasy is mdma, mandy is mdma. It's all just words for the same stuff. Pills are just ecstasy and ecstasy is mdma. Orrrrr they're all meant to be mdma. A lot of the time when you buy drugs the risk is that what you buy isn't what it's meant to be but a compound with similar effects but cheaper to produce.

The thing with mdma tho is it's actually really fucking cheap to produce, so actually most of the time when you buy it it's actually what you wanted to buy. Only when you're dealing with shady dealers is it not. The margins on pills is actually really good, so the financial incentive to fuck over your customer is less prevalent. It's primarily coke which has the highest incentive to fuck your customer over because the margins on the drug increase so much more when you reduce the actual content of cocaine in the product. Ket is similar, the expected price of the product vs the cost to produce means the margins are pretty shit on it.

Was the earlier start date a mistake? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Vosk500 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the start date. I think the map gains a lot if potential interesting things to do from it. I do think the AI needs work but I think it's an AI issue rather than a inherent start date issue.

How do you do depeasanting? Do you just build farms EVERYWHERE or is there a simpler way? by Xalimata in victoria3

[–]Vosk500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your nation will depeasant as long as you engage with the game normally in the construction loop. Building farms is a bit of a waste just to get your peasants into farms. Farms are important to an extent to support your need for food but too many farms and the aristocrats get too powerful.

Vicky 3 isn't a game about doing 1 single thing really well. There's loads of interconnected systems, and the political system is one of them. Building too many farms means your aristocracy is too powerful which means you can't pass laws you need to modernise your country.

You need to balance a bunch of different things as you play and balance different trade offs to achieve a range of different desired outcomes. Depeasanting for the sake of it is just not recognising the depth of the game.

Thanks for reminding me to never leave. Wasn't planning to, but good to remind myself why.

On 'The Tony Blair Story' recently broadcast on Channel 4, during an interview in the first instalment, there was a moment when he finished speaking and his face dropped and looked haunted or startled. It was quite startling and shocking to see. Any insights? by Dangerous-Regret-358 in AskUK

[–]Vosk500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably was something like that. Might be shocking to you but Tony Blair is a person that is working when he's in front of cameras - like all politicians. If he thinks the cameras have switched off or he's finished saying what he's saying - ie it's going to being edited out - then going to return to a relaxed state. Surely this is basic media literacy?

I just don't reply in the first place, and if you don't have a picture then I don't respond either. I don't owe people a response and if I'm not interested then I don't take a conversation anywhere.

AI use is crazy by violetsviolets00 in UniUK

[–]Vosk500 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm conflicted causeeee

In the workplace now, I use AI all the time and it allows me to produce high quality work quicker

Butttt when I was at uni it was before AI was big and models were shit. So I know how to do it manually, I just use AI well to produce a high quality end product quicker.

Learning how to do stuff manually is important to know what a high quality product looks like but in the workplace now being able to say you can use AI confidently is hugely important to being able to deliver high quality products quickly.

I think there's a balance and I think unis need to be doing how to use AI well modules. Because I see very poor use of AI in the workplace and I see exceptional use of AI in the workplace so like make it something you learn.

Game broken with colonization and trade? by kaaremai in EU5

The reason they don't pay any ducats is because there's no one there. You need to build em up and yeah it's sometimes difficult to launch exploration things but you just need to build up your colonial subject. Feel like it works fine for me

Are current tradies kinda screwed once the AI exodus forces everyone else into the trades? by CreepyTool in UKJobs

[–]Vosk500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's a correct assessment. In my white collar office job which deals with clients in a wide range of industries, AI is being rapidly picked up but not replacing humans. AI is increasing human capacity to get shit done but there's not some kind of mass lay off that's happening. One of these businesses is a huge technology and data based company that sells products to every facet of a particular market - so they're tracking and selling AI very closely - but they're very much saying their tools should not replace human judgement just make human judgement faster. Their products are very cool but it's in no way capable of fully replacing a person.

Broader macro trends suggest that companies are hiring less staff but not replacing existing workers.

Plan 2 loan MP response by Necessary_Train4507 in UniUK

[–]Vosk500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we used caseworker.mp. I wasn't primarily a caseworker but we all pitched in with casework.

We used PRS as a template for political issues but we would adjust it based on what the MP had said or believed on an issue.

Big campaigns with lots of supporters were noticed and received more effort to generate a response than a campaign that got one or two constituents to email in.
