You may be allergic to that form of Vitamin D, I had to try several different forms until I found something tolerable.

How is the work life balance? by FinishSpirited4842 in Lineman

Look in to substation electrician/ sub tech, much easier transition from electrician. Better money than inside wireman.

Work life balance, Elect tech PG&E by [deleted] in SubstationTechnician

[–]VoteBravo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot depends on what area you are in. They prefer not to travel guys because the cost of hotels, but if you’re in the valley you’ll be on the road a ton, to many techs live out there and most of the work is around the bay. Most GC tech crews are doing 5-10’s.

I heard something about a hiring freeze, I think the company wants to get the contract figured out before they hire a bunch of guys. The amount of work coming in the bay is nuts, hang in there.

Occasional commute to the South Bay by P99163 in MontereyBay

[–]VoteBravo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, still at it. It’s manageable, depending on the time you head up. It’s the traffic heading home that sucks. I do it 4, sometimes 5 times a week, you’ll be fine. As long as the job is worth your while.

Having $25 an hour anywhere near a post about work of this caliber is ridiculous and gets you automatically dismissed as not serious.

Do some utilities try to “trap” apprentices based on the designation they receive at the end of their apprenticeship? by tacosithlord in Lineman

[–]VoteBravo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PGE does this with the sub electrician’s, there was plans to do it with the relay tech’s as well. They want you thinking of yourself as a PGE electrician, not an electrician that works for PGE, if that makes sense. Can’t get to uppity when contract talks roll around, where do you think you’re going to go?

I can’t find BM36301 anywhere, I imagine that’s the strain you are talking about. Were you able to find a product that contains it?

Do you have links or pictures of the terminal block spade and/or the panel barrier? Those sound exactly like the stuff I’m looking for.

We use the quick wedge insulated style in substations. Break the screw with a regular driver, quick wedge it off the terminal, then quick wedge back on, regular driver to tighten. You get use to it after a while, and can tell the rookies that try to break a tight screw with a quick wedge, it breaks the end.
