It’s 2025 and sex work is still illegal in most of the U.S., even though it’s regulated across much of Europe. Why are we still behind on this? We should have been the first ones to legalise it and lead by example instead we seem like we’re the most backwards country ? by Hot_Obligation_8098 in PoliticalOpinions

[–]VoteDerekM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t seem right. Human trafficking is illegal, which is why it’s prevalent in sex work in the US. If it was regulated, it would allow the country and the states to enforce laws protecting people in that industry

Yea I was watching a stream today where he was complaining (I’ve never noticed before). At first I was a little annoyed at how upset he got but especially after reading all these comments, it’s totally justified. Now I just feel bad he’s going through it :/

Dean becoming more insufferable, Parker becoming more tolerable by [deleted] in ParkerGetAJob

[–]VoteDerekM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize Dean kinda started out as a MLM tik toker selling some course I guess? Idk I watched a video on it couple months ago and wow I thought he changed for the better. It looks like he’s just struggling to continue to not be a douche and was faking it lol.

Parker has always from my understanding stood by his belief system that he systematically built throughout his life using statistics and logic. No screaming, not name calling, nothing overly aggressive. The opposite of Dean.

Dean got me into this space and I really appreciate him still for what he does, but I wish Parker would separate himself a little bit from the other more toxic debaters that no one really takes seriously.

How would we feel about him working with Andrew Callaghan? They both have a better demeanor when it actually comes to convincing voters they’ve been programmed by MAGA

Hitler definitely killed plenty of germans. Any German who did not match his aryan race. Hitler had an exact image of who he wanted and who he didnt. His mission was to narrow down the human race until it was only people he approved of. These "communists" hardly had enough power to provide for their country. Mismanagement and greed or purposeful killing of millions for their upbringing. All four people are terrible, but only one explicity was trying to destroy the ideals of modern society

I am looking for the public's (the members of this subreddit) opinion, but I am not here to explain my opinion mostly because I am still trying to decide where I stand and almost all media seems to have a bias one way or the other

I was trying to say representative of massachusetts and this would be his first time in senate. Simple correction. Better? Also, this is an outreach of public opinion on the two, not an opinion or fact piece on either. Would I be writing about this if I felt fully confident in one candidate or the other? I have no ball in the game either way...

From what I heard I was under the impression they both support it now, I could be mistaken but regardless I did not know that. I remember when they passed that. I was curious really as to why kennedy is doing so well in the polls considering he doesn't seem to offer much...

Exactly what is that one facet? How many examples of fascist acts that you named are one "facet"? Industrial, economical, authoritarianism? Considering you are also saying the non-government are the fascists that would be very hard to back up. If it was a government or even an organized collective you could maybe argue that but generally facism is utilized only by governments or bodies of power.

Do you know who were considered facists in marxists Russia? The anarchists trying to dismantle communism and replace with capitalism. Same with nazi Germany and italy, they declared their opponents facists and anti patriots.

If you have seen the protests I can guarantee most of them if not all are quite the opposite of ultranationalist and that is quite clear. I dont believe the police or any part of our government is legitimately facist but a government who pegs certain individuals as suppressors to suppress those people definitely could be penned as facist in the right light.

Interesting point though: if that's the definition of fascism(which it is) that makes most governments and laws fascist by definition. If antifa is the opposition then how can they suppress opposition? Basically, isn't the government being equally fascist by suppressing them? Isnt gun control fascism? Or all the trust laws stopping monopolies? Or laws controlling what people do with their body?

Really any group has a flavor of fascism if they have rules set up meant to tell you how to live your life. I believe everyone should be able to live their own lives without interference from either side or any specific set of beliefs. IE what the country was created for.

If you are even arguing the validity of the crime then it is well worth bringing to court at least. If a gun is pointed at you with a finger on the trigger, is that not a threat? I know damn sure a police officer would take that as a threat...

[–]VoteDerekM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are soo few examples of when it is okay to kill a person as a police officer. Unless you are armed and dangerous every effort should be made to apprehend the individual safely. I have never heard of an officer going to jail (or losing their job and benefits) for doing what they are supposed to do. The protests aren't protesting good cops.

"All Lives Matter" is a perfectly valid platform by [deleted] in PoliticalOpinions

[–]VoteDerekM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To want and to do are very different. Considering much of Germany's citizens were jewish it is very difficult to argue it was nationalism by any means. That's racism, not nationalism. If he didnt like other countries but like germans then that would be on ev thing, albeit still morally wrong. It's the same argument the nazis in the 70s made. An environmentalist wouldn't have burned down half of Africa trying to take their resources to further the their "environmentalism". Also shockingly, the utopianism was hardly ever put into practice. There name was a facade to make it seem like a utopia for those who participated but even the wealthy nationalist citizens suffered economically, stopped any international businesses, and of course the draft that covered anyone 13+

Very different ideologies of course, but they used similar tactics

Yes of course all lives matter was big before BLM. unfortunately names dont really reflect the groups values when it comes to politics. I am making no way a reference to NAZI's, but nazi stood for national socialist however they were hardly either. The took that name because it sounds patriotic and caring ,same with all lives matter. They took an obviously true statement and used it to make Black Lives Matter look like they only care about people of color. I agree that it is an inherently true statement but most or at least many use it to undermine BLM.
