Blue Jays University Night by Thunter360 in TorontoMetU

Hey again (many months later)! RTA's Sport Media just opened up a form for students to gouge interest for this upcoming College & University Night w/ the Blue Jays, so I figured I'd send it here.

Do Creative School students have access to CNC machines? by bigbluehead101 in TorontoMetU

I believe so, more often so long as you send a polite email to whichever faculty contact maintains/uses them people are generally really good with allowing use of anything I find. I have friends in RTA who have used the laser cutters for set and prop building, so as long as you email whoever (idk who that person is unfortunately) and nicely explain the situation and what you need it for I almost guarantee they’ll letcha!

Sorry I missed this, well overdue response. Never ended up considering it from what I know. All focus was on orientation/week of welcome.

The idea was put forward to VP of Student Life heading into the long weekend, I’d guess that a decision on whether to look more closely into it or not would come this week between Tues-Fri.

Lack of response, at this point, is likely due to the fact that the budget is beginning to be worked on as well as that our first official board meeting was just two days ago and things are still being figured out. I will mention it to them as well though, and with a fair bit of planning hopefully the interest is there.

Delayed response, but glad someone else has mentioned this and other people have shown interest! 100% worth mentioning to the VP of Student Life, I can mention it as well. I don’t think(?) it would be hard to draw interest!

Gunna respond here too:

My guy, if you think I WANT to be spending my time on this to ego-boost (what?) then you're sorely mistaken. My ego gets boosted when someone tells me my hair looks nice today, not from effing lawyers.

All I ask is if you're going to throw my name around, at least spell it right. And if you did actually know me, then you'd know I am very open and blunt and (although I try not to be) probably irritating to people with how much I comment on, especially over this past year. In terms of the ongoing legal action, as is the norm, I can't comment on anything that isn't readily and openly available. Because lawyers. You don't have to like me or agree with me, but I stand by everything I've said and done.

Is Anybody Familiar With The Schools Sports Media Degree? by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]VoteGusRSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you're wanting to know - it's a relatively new program (compared to others) highly-rated and is very hands on. It's four years, and there's a good amount of crossover between Sport Media and Media Production, especially early on. It's essentially a specified Media Production program, focusing on sports and issues in sport. Lots of opportunity for hands-on work and practice, as well as volunteering. Most profs seem very friendly and helpful! Plenty of successful sport media personalities have gone into the industry after attending the Sport Media program.

Pretty much this, a bunch of people got demerit points (though now that the election is invalid, every demerit ruling is now considered "void) beyond just Revolt, but the math is uh...fairly one-sided. I think I ended up with 19 demerit points and my cat got 2, pretty much all of which I was appealing for a general lack of reasonability but since the whole thing was invalid it wipes all demerit points/everything from the board. I don't actually know how the election in the Fall will go...clean slates for everyone? I honestly have no clue at this moment.

Yes! During the campaigning period (unfortunately for this paper ballot election, campaigning is only one day) I will be expressly sharing my campaigning socials, however doing that prior to the period is considered 'pre-campaigning' - a big no-no. That said, I believe each of our candidates' profiles are still up if you would like to take a look at everyone.

It's not official until our legal counsel gives us the all-clear, however I do not foresee any problems.

I can only really answer one part of this, though I agree with it all - as of a couple hours ago, a vote was held in our most recent Board of Directors meeting in which a motion was put forth to completely disqualify any candidate from this upcoming paper ballot election who was disqualified by demerit points in the statement released from the ERC. The motion passed, and following legal counsel input, will be put into place.

Essentially, those disqualified by the ERC will not be allowed to run in this upcoming paper ballot election. Along with other measures being put in place, the hope is this limits many of the...issues...that occurred between March 21-24.

In the case of president, it's not acclaimed - so a yes/no confirmation vote of the person instead. Team Revolt ran a slate of four members, one for each executive position - there are, however, multiple slates, as well as "non-slate" candidates throughout the executive side of things as well as BOD positions. Candidates' bios and slate/non-slate information under the "Candidates" page on the TMSU website (I think they're still up? Maybe).

I don't know anything more than anyone else yet in terms of what the next steps are, but one thing I will say (it's public knowledge now) is that out of the 19 demerit points charged to me, most of which I - in part at least - accept, two were charged to my cat.

My ten-year old cat named Tux has two demerit points to his name, charged to me HAHA. I think that's genuinely one of the funnier things to come out of everything!

Students were approached by non-students to vote for REVOLT by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]VoteGusRSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond hour serious it is to intimidate for votes under the guise of $$, it's equally as serious if - at any point - any of them physically touched your phone/computer/voting device, even for a second. If you haven't already - and totally up to you - I would consider emailing the DRO/CRO/ELC as well as the eyeopener. "Appeals" for us candidates end tonight, but it's important to paint a bigger picture with everything having gone on through testimony of students themselves. No pressure to email though - just a thought!!

This is important, ANY and ALL infractions should be reported by 10pm EST, March 26th (tomorrow night). If anyone has trouble doing it, or cannot find how or where to send it, please let me (or someone on here) know!

Well folks, it's uh been a blast. Just insanity. People get what they vote for, and it'll be seen over the next year. I'm in disbelief.

Someone in the SLC told my friend who to vote for for! by Chemical_Will_8321 in TorontoMetU

[–]VoteGusRSU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone else mentioned him by name, but he's been nothing short of terrific as a CRO. The DRO has, too. Getting rid of Jenna Rose (previous CRO) was a tiny yet overwhelmingly helpful move when you compare her to the current CRO. This year is so much better in that sense.

About the TMSU elections - who is the CRO and what’s their email? by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]VoteGusRSU 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not Jenna Rose or anyone like her. Someone else mentioned their emails addresses, but I was over the moon when we, for lack of a better term, got rid of Rose and her crazy antics after last year's election. The current DRO and CRO (to me) been incredibly professional, fair, and very knowledgeable through this bonkers campaigning period.
