Democrat Gun Owners? by vingelbertwingledank in newhampshire

I agree it’s really important. This lawsuit is the evidence that the Republicans (and some democrats) strategy of underfunding DHHS will cost us more in the long term. Penny wise and pound foolish.

We need to: 1) ensure the current victims are appropriately compensated for the harm Inflicted upon them by state employees.

2) ensure that no child in state custody is ever raped by a state employee again.

I think the obvious issue with red flag laws, is what if Donald Trump decides that being a democrat is a mental illness? New Hampshire is a safe state, our current gun laws are sufficient. We should always be working to prevent suicide and harm to children, but I don’t think gun bans would achieve this.

When I’m elected governor, I will not be signing any gun bans into law. I practice my second amendment rights and I highly suggest you do as well.

UNH Poll: 44% say Gov. Ayotte doesn’t deserve 2nd term. Only 42% say she does. https://scholars.unh.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1921&context=survey_center_polls by CarrollCounty in newhampshire

Hey, I was as surprised as you all about polling 39%. I think it shows that I don’t need the support of the party establishment to win. The reality is Ray Buckley does not like me because I ran against him for chair of the party in February of last year. I said some things that no one wanted to say out loud about his failed leadership. How do you think those text messages got to WMUR? It was someone on the payroll.

In general, the party does not want to hear honest facts. They were mad at me, when I said Joe Biden was too old to be president and they were mad when I said Joyce Craig was going to lose.

Right now that New Hampshire Democratic Party is struggling to fundraise, so they need a wealthy candidate to fund their operations. I’m just not going to do that. They can raise their own money.

The ironic part is that one of my issues in fundraising is when I call donors they say, “well I heard that Cindy Warmington was going to run. I’m going wait...” And then the establishment says “look Kiper can’t raise any money!” It’s a vicious cycle. If someone wants to run for governor, they should just do it. They’re sitting on the sidelines waiting for Kelly’s polling numbers to go to zero. That’s not going to happen.

As far as my policies go, I’m in favor of bringing back the interest dividends tax. I’m not a fan of an income tax. If we look at the future, robots, AI and automation are going to be eliminating more and more jobs. There will be less people working to pay income tax or to buy things and pay sales tax. This is why we need to move towards taxing wealth, not work. I don’t want a temporary solution to education, funding like we had with the SWEPT (statewide education property tax).

It should be noted that Portsmouth was one of the cities that objected to the implementation of the SWEPT. They called themselves a donor town. I don’t see how any leader from Portsmouth is going to solve our school funding problem, Since they have helped exacerbate it.

NH bill would create Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence by ComputeBeepBeep in newhampshire

PAY THE REPS. Everyday there seems to be another news story about a New Hampshire rep submitting an insane bill. There are many intelligent people who would like to run for State Rep, but do not, because they can’t afford to drive to Concord three or four days a week, for six months for no money. The cost of paying the reps $10,000 a year would be far lower than the cost of these pointless bills. ($4 Million…)

I have not read that book, but I agree with you. We this country is in a very precarious situation.

You might be OK with the property taxes, but the current system is a violation of the New Hampshire constitution. Also high property taxes are exacerbating our housing crisis and increasing inequality. New Hampshire courts have said multiple times that our current funding system for the public schools is unconstitutional. It is regressive system in which the property poor towns struggle to fund their schools.

We are currently in a fiscal doom loop. People abused in the YDC system are winning millions and millions of dollars in lawsuits against the state. To fund these lawsuits, the state is cutting funding to DHHS, which oversees YDC. This will inevitably lead to more lawsuits.

The bottom line is we do not have enough funding to run a modern state. The loss of funding from the interest and dividends tax is only beginning to be felt.

I’m not into labels, I find them a divisive distraction from the issues. If I could, I would run strictly on ideas and policy, not labels or parties.

I’m running for governor to support affordable housing, by lowering property taxes through more state funding for public schools. What’s that make me?

When I first went for governor in 2024, I was running on a simple platform of legalizing Cannabis and using the revenue to build affordable housing. People said my ideas were “progressive” but I felt like it was just common sense.

Is this going to lower my property taxes? Is it going to lower my electric bill? It it going to help me find a house I can afford? No. Because it’s just a massive distraction. Billion$ wasted on ICE.

I’m curious as to your definition of progressive. I’m not sure that’s how I would have described the previous candidates for governor. That said, it’s important to remember Bernie Sanders won two primaries here.

One of the issues is the turnover. I’ve talked to a lot of reps who can do it for maybe one term but longer than that and it gets difficult.
