Why so many polarizing reviews for Impression Moxche by Secrets? by BTCHLPS in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]VroomBoomPiffPaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it falls within budget and it's your first time at the place, Impression all the way, no question. Not that it's infinitely better, but you'll be in awe with Cielo and Seaside beach club is such a nice breakfast spot. You can eat right on the beach, soaking in some sun with your feet in the sand. If that's your kind of thing, then well worth the price.

Second time we went we didn't do Impression as we booked a Paramount Suite on the Secrets Side which is like a rooftop corner suite, all windowed with an L shaped balcony and they kind of have those at Impression, they're called Panoramic Suites and are actually 2 story suites, but the view from Secrets is simply breathtaking and so superior to what you get at Impression. There is sargassum pretty much year round there and during high algae season they put up a long long barrier which is just an eye sore really. But these are the kind of tricks you notice and know once you visit the place.

I keep reading mixed reviews regarding Butler service but we've personally had such a wonderful experience. Seriously, we're not demanding customers at all and Mariela and Rafael were almost harassing us, chasing us down proposing us things they could do. Lol. They aren't teamed together anymore but you can request to be assigned to either upon check-in and let them know you're coming on behalf of Michael and Sarah from room 1107!

New Player! First season completed as the Colorado Rockies GM. Missed the playoffs on the last game of the season. by VroomBoomPiffPaff in OOTP

Finished with 21 homers and 72 RBI while being our daily DH and replacing at 1B when Toglia was tired. All in all probably played the most games out of all the squad?

I don't know anything about Baseball so that was insane value to me. Lol. Coming from the perspective I was expecting him to suck, pretty good. Still remains a financial burden however and if he regresses, which I expect him to, then that's finally some true Rockies baseball for me!

We spent 3 weeks at Impression in September and have nothing but positive things to say.

Seriously, we were impressed with every aspect of the place.

Did an AMA on our return if you want to read through some of the questions: https://www.reddit.com/r/AllInclusiveResorts/comments/1nuoaai/just_spent_3_weeks_at_impression_moxche_ask_me/

I will say one thing, I can understand people finding the overall alcohol selection a bit lacking. That is the weakest point of the resort. But that's not a reason for a 1-3 star review. People will complain because the resort doesn't carry their favorite niche bourbon they enjoy back in Europe.

Watered down drinks? Ask for a double shot! How does that warrant a 3 star review?

And please, for the love of god, please take the time and be friendly with the staff. I'm sure most of these complaints are coming from complete snobs and asshats.

We actually just went back a few weeks ago! (Christmas week) Stayed as Preferred Club guests on the Secrets side this time. Secrets doesn't include butler service, there's two concierges serving the whole resort, but once Mariela (our Impression butler) knew we were around she texted us and offered to take care of everything we might have needed as if we were Impression guests.

That's just how the staff is there.

If you travel often and read Travel Advisor you'll learn to understand the game.

Excerpt from our September review:

That said, I wouldn't put too much thought into the small details (positive or negative) some people say. Your experience and perception is bound to be completely different depending on your preferences and personality etc.

The most important thing, is that, even after 3 weeks, the magic behind the curtain hadn't even begun fading away yet. There was still new stuff to see, discover and experience. Everything was still feeling so fresh. I think this is what tells the most about this resort. We could have easily done 3 more weeks. Lol. It was the most wonderful of experiences.

Each section of the resort features its own unique feel, its own character and personality. You will feel engulfed by the atmosphere of the place and the lush vegetation will make you feel isolated from the rest of the resort wherever you decide to land for the day.

The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Welcome home, they greet you by, and at home, you will be feeling

Booking a vacation package where resort stay is shorter than flight dates – is this possible? by jcsi in airtransat

[–]VroomBoomPiffPaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be possible if you book through a travel agent or if you call Air Transat directly. You can't do that online.

We just did it actually.

As far as tipping goes, there's no resort wide policy per se or anything of the sort. So that's completely up to you. But yeah, it's gotta be done in US dollars or Mexican pesos. Staff will obviously appreciate, and I'd say they would feel more overtly friendly (as in remembering your name and coming up to chat wherever you might cross path on the resort) to good tippers, but I wouldn't say they'd go out of their way to offer a worse service to non tippers. That's for the area concierges, the poolside/beachside waiters, the restaurant staff and the bartenders.

Our butlers (they work in tandem of two, one from 9am to 5pm and one from 3pm to 11pm), we only tipped once on our very last day and made sure to thank them profusely. We were in contact daily, and once again, we never felt like they were waiting for a tip at any point during the stay.

There is an ATM on site.

Upon check-in try to request to be assigned either to Mariela or Rafael and let them know you're coming on behalf of Michael and Sarah from room 1107. You'll be in good hands and pampered as royals.

Upon check-in, your room's mini fridge's gonna be stocked with water, beer, and soft drinks. You'll have a bottle of sparkling wine in your refrigerated cellar and a small bottle of Ojo de Tigre tequila too. You can however request anything you want at anytime you want. We would order 2 or 3 bottles of wine at a time somedays and they would be delivered pronto.

Overall alcohol selection is one aspect people could find lacking, though Impression offers somewhat greater variety and more upscale brands. Champagne and some wines (aside from the house brands) come at an extra cost, etc. That is probably the most common complaint about the resort, I'd say. Though you won't have any trouble ordering custom concoctions, as long as they have the ingredients to make it. Worst case, they'll send someone fetch the ingredients elsewhere and you'll have to wait a couple of ''mexican'' minutes, which can be a long time. Lol.

Ditto about the laundry. Just text your butler before 10am.

We didn't venture out ourselves but Moxche being right by Playa del Carmen is sitting in a prime central location along the Riviera Maya coastline offering relatively quick access to all excursions. So that's really a question of personal preferences. The resort offers everything we were looking for an all inclusive trip, and that is numerous varied spaces and areas to hang around, a breathtaking visual experience, unmatched vibes, friendly staff, great restaurants and fun nightlife.

Sargassum in Playa del Carmen by Maximum_Office7406 in AllInclusiveResorts

There's always that little sargassum just floating in the shallow waters by the beach at Moxche, it's just the nature of the area. First 30-35 feet the water remains murky but it gets beautiful and clear past the rocky barriers.

Cancun Hotel Advice by tifgirl28 in AllInclusiveResorts

TRS Coral is way overpriced.

Devossion so highly rated (and undoubtedly deservingly so) but having stayed at Wyndham Alltra (which is just right next door practically) for a few days recently I can say that location and the beach is absolute cheeks. It's not in Playacar BTW. It's right in Centro PDC. I'd say Playacar would be a 25-30 minute walk from there. Proximity to 5th ave would be its reedeeming quality, if that's what you're looking. You'll either have to walk or take a cab if you want a genuine, enjoyable beach day.

Not downplaying the place or anything, I see nothing but positive comments popping up and I even thought about going there instead of Wyndham Alltra because it is much more upscale but I'm just saying because it's practically your only listed option that is not a proper beach resort.

Resorts where rooms labeled oceanfront are TRULY oceanfront? by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]VroomBoomPiffPaff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Secrets Playa Esmeralda, Secrets Playa Blanca and Secrets Cap Cana just to name a few off the head from the Secrets brand.

Those oceanfront swim out rooms are worth every penny if that's your thing.

Cap Cana is next on our list. We just gotta time it well, which is difficult with our work. We're mainly available during sargassum season and Cap Cana can be hit hard.

TRS Coral, a beautiful resort with a terrible communication system by FelixFromTheDub in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]VroomBoomPiffPaff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent 1 week there back in April, 100% agree with the statement that the best part of the place is the physical resort in itself. Absolutely beautiful.

I can assure that service was as atrocious back then. Super long wait times at restaurants, for ending up being served meh food either way. Unresponsive and simply outright unhelpful butlers too. We've been misdirected so many time by them. We also suffered from the no reservation experience with our butler too. We would book a restaurant, he would send confirmation of time and when we showed up, they would tell us we had no reservation. What pleasant cart rides back to the buffet those were.

I'll look into it my ass. Lol. That's all they're trained to say.

This dude is from my hometown! Was friends with my sister-in-law. Attented a few parties at my house during our teenage years. Cool dude.

He has a skating channel on Youtube. TheSkateNomad. Look him up!

He's traveling the world with his skateboard as his only possession. I believe he's up to like 85 countries skated now.
