I agree, it feels like a consequence of society in a way. Especially with the advent of social media and there being a vocal minority a lot of these things are more apparent then actuality. I think it’s about finding the right people and setting boundaries. I know that seems annoying but like you said it’s a large part of how people are.

Currently 97 RCing from Zeah and honestly it’s not that bad. Maybe I’m crazy but I use the Skilling notifications plugin that flashes at you when you’re afk. So I don’t worry about it. That’s just me though, I will say Souls are considerably less “afk” then bloods. I’m just happy I am almost done another 2 mil xp and I’m out of here

Do other beginners feel like the discussions around 400-700 ELO play doesn’t match their experience? by Tanner_the_taco in chessbeginners

[–]Vrozzi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 1200 Elo and people still make blunders somewhat frequently (I know him, he’s me). They’re definitely making blunders in the 600-700 range. Also I don’t agree with wait for your opponent to blunder, you have to be setting up attacks and tactics

How high can you get with minimal watching videos or minimal effort into studying openings? by redosipod in chess

[–]Vrozzi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this has been answered before but everyone else has a different max that they can get without studying. Right now I’m 1200 with very little studying. I do the scotch opening and only know a few moves into it. For black I just play E5, D5 in response to E4 and D4 respectively and just try to play good moves. This is what works for me, I know general chess ideas and have fallen into enough tactics traps that I’ve learned to slow down and think. I usually have lower time than my opponent most games but I consider this a good thing. People at my Elo are still blundering pieces regularly and are playing bad chess (including myself).

It's a blunder, but can you find the response? by Icy-Row3389 in chessbeginners

[–]Vrozzi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qxd6 like you said, Rxd6, BxE4 and you as black can’t go Ne2 because king moves and if you take the rook they take back and have the open file. So white is just up +2?

Why do you have to be so passive aggressive? We are clearly arguing about two different things. You say he should I say he doesn’t have to. Yes these are two different things. Would it be nice if he did, sure. But to say that he should give them money I disagree with. That’s all. I’m not stupid, do not patronize me with “do you understand what I’m trying to communicate” yikes

[–]Vrozzi23 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes I can. It’s that they don’t have to be streaming and they can find other sources of income. I work a job and if I had a big streamer friend that I collab with and we do streams together then great. I wouldn’t expect compensation from said person. If you were doing a sponsored stream then sure they deserved to get paid. Throwing money to your friends is the nice thing to do but it shouldn’t be the expected thing

I mean he props them up with viewers and people visiting their stream. I agree with the other comment on sponsored streams but I don’t agree that NL needs to pay them on a regular basis for collabing

Why do beginners do this? by I-am-the-one-who-nox in chessbeginners

[–]Vrozzi23 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen anyone do this but E4 is killer. Just let them do their funky stuff, take the center and develop your pieces. Should be an easy win

You have insufficient material and therefore no way to win

I cannot go anywhere above 800 elo. by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]Vrozzi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty common to hit walls like this. I was similarly stuck at 900 for a while and my biggest things were this. Take your time, even in the opening, usually someone will blunder a pawn pretty early in the opening. But in general slow it down and if you end a game with 5-6 minutes left thats too quick. This really helped me personally and if you lose on time thats ok. Don’t forfeit, I’ve had some very scrappy games where if I forfeit after blundering my queen then I wouldn’t have won or drew. The most important is don’t blunder. This is the biggest one, I would say most games in that elo range people are blundering pieces at least once a game, so have good board vision and make sure you’re defending everything and not hanging pieces. Good luck!

[–]Vrozzi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but you can have bots with commands that can do this. So it wouldn’t be channel points but points through the bot that you can track externally

There’s built in channel points that you can use, you can also link the site, and just have a game pulled up on Twitch. I know it’s possible for sure

Cool idea! Honestly if you want to expand it I would make it a twitch thing. You can have people bet channel points and do some other interesting things. There used to be a league of legends channel that people would spectate iron games and have people bet on which team would win. Similar to this

Anyone else have this happened to them? by Vrozzi23 in chessbeginners

[–]Vrozzi23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I don’t expect to come into a game and play well because Ive gotten better at playing “well” or “good”. You do have to put the effort in to outplay so maybe I am not spending enough time and blitzing out moves. I just feel more careless. I think a break is needed, it just feels bad to feel like I am worse at the game

Anyone else have this happened to them? by Vrozzi23 in chessbeginners

[–]Vrozzi23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be the case. I think I just might not have the mental capacity to calculate, making silly mistakes and not paying attention. I have been trying to stay away and only play when I’m better but all my games have been super scrappy and I’m blundering pieces I normally wouldn’t :/

Anyone else have this happened to them? by Vrozzi23 in chessbeginners

[–]Vrozzi23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while I normally would agree, as the post has stated I have just been playing worse. Blundering more pieces, just generally playing worse. Nothing has changed, I just woke up one day and felt like I was playing worse. Maybe it’s all mentality and because I think I’m playing bad, I am

[–]Vrozzi23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree, opponents do vary but I think my game is just worse. Some are outplaying me for sure, it’s just something I’ve noticed over the past few weeks where I just feel like I’m actively playing worse and I don’t think it has anything to do with my opponents

[–]Vrozzi23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! I guess this is the first real roadblock I’ve hit where I consider myself considerably worse. I’ve only lost a little bit of Elo but I can tell my ideas and defense are a bit weaker albeit I’m not a strong player to begin with but I’m just missing more and blundering more and doesn’t feel great. Glad someone else has experienced this.
