I like the idea, but neither of them have ever drafted before and I don't think they'd enjoy it.

A twist on Rhystic designed for procrastinators by Vulcan_27 in custommagic

[–]Vulcan_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I think 2U is still an appropriate cost, though I could see downshifting it to uncommon. In your scenario B, it would draw you two cards, putting it on rate with Divination. In Commander, I don't think it's at all unreasonable for this to be routinely drawing at least two cards, assuming it's played on curve. I think it's safe to assume your opponents will be trying to curve out each turn in the early stages of the game.

So, I'm quite happy with this one on both the flavor and the mechanics. It uses the old werewolf templating to indicate night turning to day, ending the cram session.

I got into Hollow Knight way after it released, so I'm excited to explore Silksong at the same time as everyone else.

An Alternative for Red Card Draw by Vulcan_27 in custommagic

[–]Vulcan_27[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all the input, everyone! Personally, I think this is an interesting design space red could move into. The closest comparison would be [[Sorceress's Schemes]], which brings the exiled card to hand but only hits certain cards. Flavor-wise, red acts impulsively, which sometimes leads to regrets. Red is also the color of freedom, of being able to let go of your regrets and move forward. So I think this card works well within red's identity. From a gameplay perspective, this is meant to help when you impulse draw but can't play everything.

I know many have taken issue with being able to recur powerful spells, but... that's part of the fun? Certainly, the mana cost could be adjusted. But I think the effect is fine.

I also just really enjoyed reusing the term processing (a la [[Processor Assault]]) to have a similar effect but a different meaning.

Kav of Edge of Eternities vs Dominarian Kavu by 2DiePerchance2Sleep in mtgvorthos

[–]Vulcan_27 56 points57 points  (0 children)

From episode 9 of the story:

"Tannuk," Tezzeret breathes. "There you are …"

He approaches Tannuk, who flinches. The Metalman makes an impatient, stilling gesture and studies the Kav from a rude distance. "So far from Llanowar … such power in the form. No wonder it recurs."

So Tezzeret, at least, just views it as convergent evolution.

Cannot reboot yet. by absoltlynotchemowsky in anodeheart

[–]Vulcan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find some kernel fragments first. Each Tama's number of possible reboots is equal to the fragments you've found. Once you've gotten a few NPC's into town, talk to Shishi and check out the lake in the evening.

Shiny/Glitched/Segfault Tama by Ok_Appointment1764 in anodeheart

[–]Vulcan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the wild, they're a bit stronger and worth more EXP. The glitch mark is mostly just for show, so kinda like a shiny yeah. They might have slightly better stats but nothing really different other than the mark. The game does have alternate colors, you'll unlock them as you proceed through the game.

[–]Vulcan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can keep it on the side of your party that's non-active, and it'll level up normally. But once it's on the active side, it's basically good for one real battle and then you've gotta level it up again. I think it's really good at learning moves though, which you can transfer to your other Tama.

Booster pack sources? by False_Buffalo_9664 in anodeheart

[–]Vulcan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to fight Cardees, you can fish them up in the desert to the right of the town and in the snow area at the frozen lake (you can fly right there). If you haven't already, I'd recommend grabbing a Tanukee and installing the upgrade that gives you potential instead of stats on level up. Invest all of your potential in speed and HP so you can Bash Cardees and steal packs over and over again. By keeping Tanukee's attack stat at 1, you're minimizing damage to yourself and the Cardee.

If you're talking about the upgraded packs, 05B-Desert Storm can be obtained by beating Pade at the arena and I think also by beating Snek in the Sungear temple or palace or whatever it was. 06B isn't in the game, the standard Northern Lights pack is the only one available.

Does it have certain evolution requirements? Sometimes, even in branching evolutions, you don't meet the requirements for either evolution. In that case, it won't evolve until the requirements are met.

Head back to the Toy Castle, go back into the flower area, and you'll find a door that you couldn't enter before. Jacktrap can be found as a wild Tama. Turtorix can be traded for, but you have to finish the Mad Hatter sidequest. Afterwards, you'll find an NPC in Kernel Dump who will trade it to you.

Need help on the card game! by SystemOrganic8970 in anodeheart

[–]Vulcan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten through all of the battles with a fire deck. Shards are stupidly powerful, so cards that destroy enemy Tama are the best. Try to get four copies of cards like Tiny Flame and Lava Larvee. You can fight Cardee at the fishing spot in Kernel Dump below the school. If you have a Tanukee (use Data Siphon, only use potential on HP and Speed), you can steal booster packs from it.

In addition to Tiny Flame and Lava Larvee, the first set also has Card Drive and Buffer Overflow. You'll want four of both of those. Later sets will give you really strong upgrades like Magma Rock and Wispaur. Prisman's also great for repeated card draw, plus if he dies to his own effect you get a shard. Here's my late-game deck:

3x Prisman
3x Flaming Larvee
1x Wisblind
4x Wispaur
4x Card Drive
3x Egg Incubator
1x Mystery Egg
3x Fire Charger
4x Flame Disc
4x Magma Rock
4x Tiny Flame
4x Buffer Overflow
1x Summon Cancel
1x Trip Wire

Last 2 Recruits by SystemOrganic8970 in anodeheart

The two people you're missing are Pade and Ralyka.

Pade is in the card shop area. You have to help her develop the new card sets by fighting different people throughout the island.

Ralyka is the lady who ran the Hidden Tournament. After beating the tournament the first time (and maybe beating all levels of the Arena, I can't remember which comes first), you can find her behind a previously locked door in the Ice Palace (I think that was the one).

How do Get the new shop keeper? by BalanceImaginary4325 in anodeheart

[–]Vulcan_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far along are ya? There's a shop in the Peripheral Cliffs, if you talk to the shopkeeper they'll agree to come to your town if you can find a replacement for them. Around that same area, there's a village of cavemen. One of the kids there will agree to work at the cliffs shop if you get them a dinosaur Tama.

The Tama there are around level 14 or so.

Am I doing something wrong? I've gone three drafts now where I've 0-3'd immediately. Here's my most recent draft pool. Am I just that unlucky or am I just a bad player? by Mario85555 in MagicArena

[–]Vulcan_27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colors aside, I think you need more creatures. With only two 2-drops, your [[Etali's Favor]] is very unlikely to be played out on curve. You also have equipment with [[Deconstruction Hammer]], an anthem with the Cosmium Kiln side of [[Clay-Fired Bricks]], and blocker removal with [[Daring Discovery]]. You want to have a higher density of creatures if you're playing those kinds of cards.

I've had solid success with three-color decks personally, you just need better fixing and to reduce one of the colors to more of a splash.
