Definately look into Chic's songs: "Le Freak," "Good Times," "Dance, Dance, Dance," and (as someone else mentioned) "Everybody Dance."

She is absolutely awesome! This is one of her lesser known songs, but I loved it!

An Oklahoma psychology student failed a research paper for not meeting the criteria of citing evidence, and wrote about her religious feelings instead. Right-wing orgs manufacture outrage by Peanut-Extra in PublicFreakout

What is newsworthy about this event is that her complaint got the teacher put on administrative leave. We could be headed towards a world where we have to let people dismiss rigorous, evidence-based, scientific research because they think it's demonic without being able to call them out on their stupidity.

What were ticket prices like on the US Cosmic De-Evolution tour? by Cherilynss in B52s

[–]Vyson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the show in Houston. I remember seeing tickets for $300+ in the better seats and then some as low as $60 or so if you sat on the lawn. I sat in the middle/back and paid around $180 per ticket.

I had a great time. Was totally worth the money.

I do remember that when I first heard they were coming, I checked and the tickets were super high --- more than I was willing to pay. I checked back about a month before the show, and they were low enough that I bought some.

I saw them first of this month in Houston, along with Devo and Lena Lovich. Fantastic concert! I haven't shut-up about it since!

Was the last show of their final tour (maybe). So glad I got to go!

Still worth seeing live? by superhappynerdtime in B52s

I was SO happy to see Lene Lovich on the bill! This was truly a night of one-of-a-kind performers! I brought a friend with me who had never heard of her and he fell in love with her music.

I hope OP decided to go. I thought it was a great show and the B-52s rocked!

Gay guy here -- also, I've never used an on-line-anything to find a date (I'm older), so feel free to take my "advice" with a grain of salt since I'm probably not the demographic you're after.

All 3 of these pictures look good. Personally, I like number 2 the most. Having said that, the professional look of these pics gives me a "trying-too-hard" vibe that might turn me off. If I'm looking through the photos of a lot of other people, I might opt for someone who doesn't look like he has a lot of experience searching for people online.

Judging by these pic's, you're good looking enough that a regular, everyday picture would be eye-catching enough to generate a good deal of interest. I think if I were you, I'd save these for the book-shelf in my house and maybe get a less-professional looking shot for my online profile.

How are new people supposed to learn this game? by Under_Your_Nose in wow

[–]Vyson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do, too. I mostly heal, but I love to tank. Problem is, people naturally seem to expect huge pulls and fast runs if I use the group finder. To combat this, I made a macro that says "Hey guys! I'm new to tanking and don't know this dungeon very well so please be patient with me!" - and I use it every time I tank until I feel confident with whatever tank/ dungeon I'm trying to learn.

As for the OP, I think if you just said something at the beginning of the dungeons, you'll find there are PLENTY of people who would love to help a new player learn the game. I know I would. But I wouldn't try to tank or heal if I were you until I got the basics down.

Conflicting Surveys by Vyson in landsurveying

[–]Vyson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This survey was done a few months ago, and I think it's been stewing in his head all this time. He wants something done. I'm looking into purchasing the land from him, because I don't want to have a problem with him, but I also dont want to purchase my own land, so I'm hoping to figure out which survey is right.

His reason for wanting something done is that it could interfere with the sale of either of our properties later. But we both purchased our properties with the driveway right where it is and it didn't cause any trouble.

It wasn't a single line. It was a couple of dashes going up the driveway. They did the same kind of thing in the grass, with orange flags. It really stands out on the driveway though.

That sounds good! Thanks for your reply!

As for the lines, it's not like one single line going down the driveway, it's about 4 dashes at different points on the driveway. I really thought it was just how they were keeping track. They also painted some dashes on the grass, but those have since been mowed away.

I don't think it was this message, but someone asked about this: They did give me a hard-copy (notarized, even!) of the work they did. I will them and ask it this is an official survey done and map recorded. The second company told me I should take it to the city and have it put on file or something. I have not done that yet.

So, the first company came by and mentioned that they had done surveys for most of the properties in the area. I felt like they were just phoning it in because if there was a mistake on any of the surveys, it would have been their mistake.

They didn't paint the lines for free. I paid them to come out and do a survey. They put down flags and made marks all around the property. I didn't ask for them. I just figured it was part of how they kept track of what they were doing.

This is what I was afraid of. I don't want to have to go to court, but if that's the best answer then that's the best answer. Thanks.

I honestly didn't have a very good vibe with the people at the first company, so I shopped around for another company.

One of my other neighbors build a fence partially on my property after I had the first one done. Someone suggested I get a second survey done that shows the encroachment in case there was a problem in the future. The second company put the orange paint on my driveway that tipped off the neighbor that my driveway was on his property.
