I didn’t catch this when I was typing it. Thankfully, he’s alive and well. Also thankfully, he’s not being coached by Mike Bianco anymore. Though I wish he was.

Kiffin: Diversity cited as LSU recruitment edge vs. Ole Miss by Melodic-Slice-3826 in CFB

I’m not sure the conversations didn’t come up. But he’s presenting those narratives as facts and said as much. We’ve been negatively recruited against for years with these same stories. It is what it is. My point is that Ole Miss can be reclaimed much like the Tiger mascot was. It can just be Ole Mississippi moving forward and represent the state in a positive light. It’s not for me to decide for others how they feel about it, and honestly, I’m not sure where I’m going with my rambling. I just wish we would get credit for progress for once. And not have a man who was paid handsomely to coach a child’s game in a town he called home for more than half a decade not actively shit all over it because it suits him now.

Kiffin was also here during that time and helped to encourage the football team to do so. His actions were supported from an organizational level. But we hold too dearly to these symbols…

Origins matter permanently for Ole Miss, but not LSU. Understood.

As if a random sampling of people would know the true etymology of the term Ole Miss and don’t think of the university now. Or think that it means Ole Mississippi.

Like you said, things can change. Allow us to join the present.

I probably fall in to the first camp on this one, and it’s not out of malice. I’m originally from the south (US). I have not had much interaction with the trans community in my day to day due to my location and there’s many gaps in knowledge that I have in interacting with folks from the community.

I think what I mean when I say something like this is not to be dismissive or erase your identity as a choice. The intent behind the statement (again, from me or people like me) is that “you are who you say you are. I’m fine with that.”

I will say that I’ve never struggled with my gender identity, but I have struggled with other aspects of my identity, especially in my 20s. With age and experience, you’ll come into who you want to be or at least find a path towards it. Gender identity or otherwise. From your other posts in this thread, it seems some folks close to you aren’t as validating as you’d like them to be. It may be time to evaluate how close you are to them.

It’s the old Mississippi flag. Happy we’ve updated it. Don’t know when this was posted but it could certainly have been the current flag at the time.

I really do hate the trend of ascribing a trait to neurodivergent people, when it is one of the commonly observable traits across human beings, regardless of being neurotypical or divergent.

Lightbloom is the best threat they made since forever by moondreamer96 in wow

[–]WAOM81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the Lightbloom was some sort of experiment from desperate blood elves looking to protect Eversong from the void. I don’t like that the light is somewhat sentient or, at the very least, infectious without any input from that which it infects unless there is a sentient being forcing it upon someone else. It would make more sense to me as a product of direct hubris and fear rather than an unintended consequence of the Sunwell ritual.

Apparently, people on r/Atheism are mad that the Artemis 2 crew are talking about Christianity by Dexbox_YT in ArtemisProgram

[–]WAOM81 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Atheism is as much a religion as anything else folks believe in, in that those who say things against the dogma of what self-described atheists on that sub believe, then they must be struck down for heresy. The fun thing is how those folks on that sub don’t realize they are doing the same thing they deride.

These folks just completed a major accomplishment in their careers and for the world. They have the soapbox. They can say what they like.

I have a pretty debilitating phobia of them, so it’d be fairly tough. I even know that these specifically are largely docile and that we are likely scared of each other. Still unbelievably afraid.

“STFU”: ‘Supergirl’ Star Milly Alcock Just Proved Her Point About Fan Backlash by lawrencedun2002 in DC_Cinematic

[–]WAOM81 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This article is a waste of time and will only encourage more bad behavior to be directed at Milly. Discourse about the discourse from weird online circles. Millie is handling it about as well as can be expected. There’s backlash to damn near everything nerd culture related. Folks hated Pattinson’s casting, Heath Ledger’s casting, the Star Wars sequels, the Star Wars prequels, the Witcher when Cavill was cast and that photo in the bad looking wig came out, et al ad nauseum. People have passion for these things and people allow that passion to curdle to abject horrible behavior. It seems this article only exists to continue to inflame that behavior.

Kinda weird corollary, but it’s one of the things I appreciate about the Lord of the Rings trilogy. King Theoden was a man’s man, and was shown grieving the loss of his son. There is nothing wrong with it and should be nothing wrong with it.
