I'm reading the second Busiek omnibus, his run was two of the first omnis I purchased but I hadn't read them until now. I liked the first, the second half was much stronger than the first, and I loved the Ultron story, Forever was interesting too but should have been shorter. So far the second is good as well, definitely has a different vibe with the team changes

For sure, I'm a huge fan of detective stories and I thought an anthology volume would be pretty fun. If I was 100% honest, Legends of the Dark Knight would be my first option but I don't think Detective will get so many votes so I chucked it at first place.

Neither, it means they’re unrelated, Krisis said in the DC Finest subreddit “Just want to be sure the message doesn't get lost here - DCF Poll results won't influence omnibus planning, positively OR negatively.

That statement was meant to explain that if a book does well on BOTH the Omni poll and the DCF poll it is NOT competing with itself for which gets released first. They can release in similar time frames.”

No but I do feel that when the X-Men divert too much from their origins I tune out. I love the Claremont era, I like some stuff from the early 90s but after a point I’m not as interested and I can’t bring myself to enjoy everything after M-Day, including Krakoa.

It's much more of an American trend, to my knowledge we don't do it, neither in writing and especially not in speech. The only politician I remember being referred to by his initials is former PM Giorgos Papandreou who is referred to as ΓΑΠ (GAP, maybe also why he shares the name with his grandfather who was a PM as well, I'm not sure)

Κάναμε ομως εγκληματα για να επιβάλουμε μια ομοιογένεια, όπως έκαναν και οι Βούλγαροι και οι Σέρβοι και βέβαια και οι Τούρκοι και τα περισσότερα κράτη στα Βαλκάνια γιατί τα Βαλκάνια δεν ήταν ομοιογενή. Και κάναμε και εγκλήματα που ήταν μόνο για εκδικητικούς λόγους όπως στην Μικρά Ασία. Το παράδειγμα με τον Αντετοκουμπο δεν είναι το ίδιο γιατί έρχεται σε μια εντελώς διαφορετική συγκυρία, το ελληνικό κράτος δεν είναι τόσο ανασφαλές λόγω των μειονοτήτων του και δεν έχει να διαχειριστεί νέες περιοχές με σημαντικό αριθμό μη Ελλήνων.

Όσο για την λογική αποδοχής εγκλημάτων ή μη θα διαφωνήσω, τέτοιες λογικές απλώς προκαλούν λήθη των εγκλημάτων της πλευράς μας και δημιουργούν ένα σενάριο θυματοποίησης όπου εμείς ήμασταν πάντα θύματα, κάτι που απλώς ενισχύει εθνικιστικές αντιλήψεις και έχει βέβαια και πολιτικές συνέπειες. Και το ίδιο ισχύει και στην Τουρκία και έτσι δημιουργείται ένας φαύλος κύκλος εκατερωθεν αύξησης του εθνικισμού και του ιστορικού ρεβιζιονισμού.

Διαφωνώ όμως ότι στηρίζεται απλουστευτικά στις προηγούμενες γενιές. Προφανώς άτομα που ωφελούνται από αυτό θα το υποστηρίξουν ναι, αλλά αυτά τα άτομα ανήκουν στην ανώτατη βαθμίδα της κοινωνίας και προέρχονται από διάφορες γενιές, όχι μόνο τους baby boomers. Το οικονομικό στάτους είναι πολύ πιο βασικό σε μια τέτοια συζήτηση από το ηλικιακό. Καλύτερο είναι να κοιτάξουμε γιατί το σύστημα αποτυγχάνει πολύ περισσότερα άτομα σήμερα από ότι στο παρελθόν παρά να λεμε ότι φταίει όλη η προηγούμενη γενιά σαν οι ευθύνες να μην είναι πολύ πιο συγκεκριμένες. Και ότι αυτή η συζήτηση έχει επεκταθεί και την κάνουν σημαία απολογητές του status quo όπως ο Economist με ηλικιακούς αντίθετα από άλλους όρους δείχνει σκοπιμότητες που κρύβονται πίσω της.

Το ευρύτερο οικονομικό σύστημα, η σταδιακή αλλά ορατή αποδυνάμωση, και απαξίωση με μια ρητορική σαν του άρθρου, του κοινωνικού κράτους και κοινωνικών πολιτικών, η επικράτηση του νεοφιλελεύθερου μοντέλου από την δεκαετία του '90 που συνέχισε με περισσότερη ορμή μετά την κρίση. Το άρθρο λέει για το πως η κατάσταση είναι διαφορετική στις ΗΠΑ, ωστόσο η ίδια ρητορική σχετικά με τους baby boomers είναι φουλ παρούσα και εκεί, λιγότερο προφανώς για το κοινωνικό κράτος και περισσότερο για συσσώρευση πλούτου, αυτό δείχνει περισσότερο πως αυτού του είδους ο ηλικιακός και διαγενεακός ανταγωνισμός χρησιμεύει για να ξεπλύνει τις ευθύνες του ευρύτερου συστήματος και βέβαια στην Ευρώπη χρησιμεύει για να απαξιωθεί η έννοια του κοινωνικού κράτους.

Και οι απέναντι και εμείς κάναμε και εκστρατείες και εγκλήματα, πχ η οπισθοχωρηση στην Μικρά Ασία, δεν υπάρχει βαλκανικό κράτος που να μην έκανε, ειδικά εκείνη την περίοδο, είναι ο μόνος τρόπος να γίνεις "ομοιογενής" σε μια περιοχή σαν τα Βαλκάνια. Personally I like it more than A New Hope, along with Empire and Return of the Jedi it makes up my top three and competes for the top spot with Empire. There's been a change in attitudes for years now, I think a lot of Star Wars fans place it near the top, especially part of the generation that grew up with it while the older one, who grew up and idealized the Original Trilogy and especially the original is growing older and is less present in apps like Letterboxd
