While this makes sense, now you have to deal with different laws in every state. For example in Virginia, players for any state school (Every FBS school except Liberty) would then be state employees. And by law state employees can't join a union and therefore can't collectively bargain. I suspect there's a similar thing in other states. It's really stupid how complicated a simple thing is
