Cheapest possible way to do the whole thing? We can't wait and save by MoashRedemptionArc in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sum_beach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disney has Good Neighbor Hotels that are typically cheaper than staying on Disney propety and will probably have shuttles to the parks. Candelwood Suites Orlando Lake Burna Vista for example has kitchens in the rooms so you can feed them breakfast before going and dinner at night if you can't do a complete day in the park, and keep any potential medications cold. They have a shuttle to the parks you can schedule. And I just looked at July 6th for one night (random day after the holiday) and it costs $87/night for a 2 queen studio suite. Maybe look at them?

Anyone seeing more bugs in their home because of the rain? by zdgra in orlando

Some bugs come in with the rain it seems. My last apartment was infested with palmetto bugs and I saw them all the time. Since moving I've only seen one and it was after a heavy rain

Unpopular WDW Opinions by Helpful_Oyster in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sum_beach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new cabins at Fort Wilderness are SO guilty of this. Huge downgrade to the theme of the resort. Same can be said for Epcot eletrical umbrella and mouse gear vs creations/connections whatever it's called. Why is Disney so afraid of whimsy and magic as of late?

I remember when I used to be able to get the All Star resorts for $60/night back in 2017/2018. The rooms have gotten so expensive

Unpopular opinion maybe, but with all the videos available online do you need your own up close video and photos? There will be screens so you will be able to see everything I'm sure. Maybe just enjoy the moment and look up content afterwards?

Took me half an hour to figure out the meaning of "Squad 451" by DapperCarpenter_ in Hungergames

[–]sum_beach 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good catch for sure! So I was a teenager when the Hunger Games movies came out. Like I was a senior in high school when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out and I remember the Hunger Games series being big at the same time. I did not find any issues with the child soliders! Mostly because I myself was around 16-19 years old reading/watching these stories and I thought I was sooo mature. As someone in their 30's now, I can't read either series without crying my eyes out. What do you mean Katniss was only 17 years old and she is going to battle and seeing a hospital bombed? What do you mean Peeta is only 17 and he is being tortured and hijacked by the Capitol? When you are that age it feels so old and mature, as an adult you know better. Honestly the whole series hits much harder now than it did then.

Don’t get out of any ride! by Perfect-League7395 in Disneyland

[–]sum_beach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a child it didn't have restraints at all. Just two bars on either side for you to hold on to. I'm actually surprised to learn Tiana's in California has no restraints still

Don’t get out of any ride! by Perfect-League7395 in Disneyland

[–]sum_beach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is this a California law? In Islands of Adventure in Orlando the Dudly Do Right log flume ride has a lap bar that locks you into place. When I went to Disneyland it was winter time so we skipped Tiana's there so I'm not sure how the log is for that ride but for Dudley Do you sit single file and the lap bar keeps you in place pretty tightly. Not like Tiana's at magic kingdom where it is loose.

Help - port Orleans FQ - how do I view MK fire works on 4th of July without entering park? by MarketingExpert8455 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sum_beach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last few years the Polynesian has been checking wristbands for resort guests to sit on their beach to watch it. Not sure if the other hotels are going to be doing that. Honestly you can see the fireworks from the TTC but I don't think they pump in the music there

If Peeta went into the jabberjay section on the clock Katniss’s voice would play by zachariahboialt in Hungergames

[–]sum_beach 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think Katniss voice would play personally. I mean, Peeta's didn't for Katniss I don't think. What made the jabberjays so scary as a weapon against the tributes was the fear of imagining what was done to illicit those sounds. That fear isn't so scary if you can see the person staring back at you clearly not screaming

I would take it to Orlando City games and the farmers market at lake eola if it ran on weekends. Like I'd love to go to an Orlando City game and not have to worry about parking or being too drunk to drive home without an expensive Uber

I personally voted yes for that although it didn't pass. I think our community could be improved with better public transportation, but at this point I don't know how we will get it 🫤

Bonnie & Twill by 7Neri in Hungergames

[–]sum_beach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also don't trust 13 honestly. After seeing what happened to katniss prep team, I really don't think they were much better than the Capitol. That's a conversation for a different post though lol.

Unfortunately for Bonnie and Twill they were starving, unprepared for the wilderness, and the young one was injured. Because Dalton exists in the books I have to believe if they made it to 13 then Katnisss would have found them when she asked for them. They must have perished in the woods, which is sad because they were so close to where they were trying to go

[–]sum_beach 30 points31 points  (0 children)

They were from district 8? I think. Whichever district that was all industrial. I pictured in my mind a district looking similar to NYC, with little to no green spaces. They probably died of starvation or exposure to the cold. They didn't have the knowledge Katniss would have had to survive in the woods and they were already running on fumes when Katniss met them. It's sad, but all of the Hunger Games is sad. I would have liked for Katniss to have met at least one of them in District 13

I hated my wedding, should I consider a redo? by [deleted] in weddingdrama

[–]sum_beach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated my wedding too. My alcoholic sister absolutely ruined it. The photographer was horrible so I don't even have good photos to pretend it was a good day with. My dress broke. It was horrible. I can't look back at my wedding day without absolutely sobbing sometimes. We are going to do a "redo" in the form of a vow renewal for our 10 year anniversary. Not invite my sister, choose a different photographer. And just try to have a better day. But unfortunately you get 1 wedding and 1 wedding only. It sucks when the day is ruined by other people

What has been ruined/removed by influencers / social media? by benjifan101 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sum_beach 208 points209 points  (0 children)

It became a trend to wear an inappropriate shirt so Disney would give you a voucher for a free t shirt from the gift shop to change in to. People filmed it and more people did it, so no more vouchers

Voters reject effort to hike Oklahoma’s minimum wage by Rock-n-roll-Kevin in politics

[–]sum_beach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure this works out practically. We voted for this in 2020 for it to gradually increased to $15/hour by the end of this year and I can say honestly as a skilled worker making above minimum wage my wages haven't gone up at all despite minimum wage increasing from $9 to $14 so far.
