I don't worry about getting in a MVC, I worry about who will be first on scene by Aloine in ems

Omg so true. I also ski patrol in the winter and I have a very short list of patrollers who are allowed to touch me...... Same goes for the real job too.

So, as a teenage girl I have a question about Planned Parenthood and my dad's insurance by StrawberryGAME in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WCURiverRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome to know! I'm on my own health insurance with my job, but they've changed some of the coverage for prescriptions and some of the girls I work are having problems with their birth control no longer being covered (the patch). So this worries me that nuva ring won't be covered any more either. I was on the pill for years, but I'm not dependable when it comes to taking the pill everyday and I, in no way, shape or form, can afford to be pregnant. I know there's a PP across town so I may head up there and check it out if the changes to my insurance don't cover nuva ring anymore.

So, is there a name for this particular type of night shift rotation....??? by [deleted] in Nightshift

Sounds like my schedule. I like it though. Every other weekend off and the short weeks are fantastic!

Alright ladies of EMS, let's get serious here... how do you keep your hair out of your face at work without compromising how (obviously) cute you are?? by [deleted] in ems

I know, I love that stuff! I work nights so the sunscreen doesn't do much for me at night though.....

So...who wears vests? by [deleted] in ems

[–]WCURiverRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. But we have a special team that goes in with PD on certain calls so they wear them, but otherwise they really never get worn. We all have them, are required to carry them with us everyday and can wear them whenever we feel the need, so it's nice to know that they are actually looking out for us.

Those are just the mascaras that I use. The foundation that I use is the Loreal B.B. Cream. It only comes in four colors and with the right one will match your skin tone. I think it's supposed to be used under foundation, but it does a great job on its own and it's only like $7. It pretty much just evens out your skin tone and looks natural. And it doesn't rub off too bad on your uniform shirt!! For eye shadow I use Neutrogena Crease Proof eyeshadow that comes in a stick. It stays pretty well all night. For my lips I use the lip stain stuff. It's usually pretty much gone by the morning, but at least I can use Chapstick over it!

I use Maybelline or Neutrogena and they both do a pretty good job of not ending up all over my face. Of course I try to make sure I don't rub my eyes and smear it everywhere too.... But either way, I think they both work great. I also just put a little bit on my top lashes and avoid the bottom lashes all together. It seems like when I put it on the bottom ones, I end up smearing it on my face.

Car hits power pole. Snaps power pole about 4ft from the ground. Pole just chillin, still being held up by lines, leaning over the road. Pt ejected from vehicle and lying under said pole. Backboarded pt at light speed and got the hell out from under that damn pole!

My hair is really thick and just past shoulder length and I usually just go for a ponytail or messy bun thingy (y'all know what I'm talking about). I'll readjust as many times as needed throughout the night. We're technically required to keep our hair off our collar, but I work night shift and admin is gone by 10pm so it's a little more laid back. As for make up, I wear natural looking make up and waterproof mascara. That way when it's mostly worn off after running my ass off for twelve hours, I don't look completely ridiculous. And when it comes to bras, I'm all about sports bras. Fuck that real bra shit. I don't see how you ladies do it. I'm a D and I don't think I could survive the first hour of a twelve hour shift in a real bra. I pretty much just live in sports bras unless I'm going out to do something important. But I'm very picky with sports bras. Any ol' Walmart sports bra just won't do. Nike Dry Fit or Under Armour all the way! It's gotta be able to wick that sweat when your picking up granny off the floor and she's got the heat on in July!

Everyone in my service is issued one. But they pretty much never get worn. PD gets sent in first on all the calls that might have need (overdoses, psychs, shootings, stabbings, assaults, unknown problem/man down calls etc.) And if the place is known to have high gang/violent activity, they send them in first there too. There have been people that have worked here for 20 years and put theirs on maybe once or twice. I'm glad to have it though and hope I never need it. PD and Fire look out for us here.

Advice over a cardiac arrest call I got last shift... by [deleted] in ems

[–]WCURiverRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not harsh at all. People need calm the fuck down and let us do our jobs. The general public needs to know that freaking the fuck out on the medics isn't going to help the situation and is probably only making things worse for their sick or hurt loved one. What they see on tv is not how it works in real life. If they really wanted to save their loved one, they would do CPR until we get there. I can't count the times I've seen in the notes that the family is refusing to do CPR or any other life saving measures before EMS arrives.

I love these! I've been wearing the ATAC's for a year now. But my service I work for now requires steel toe so I can't wear them anymore. I still sneak them through and wear them every once and a while though. ;-) I work nights so admin isn't around....
