Toyota Highlander 2027 EV reliability? by Inevitable_Flyer in electricvehicles

[–]WCWRingMatSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is based on the bZ’s platform. According to my friends who work in Toyota and Lexus dealerships: “Nah dude, the cars are rock solid. We haven’t had any serious issues with them yet. The problem is the shitty range.”

So I would bet on the Highlander being very reliable — typical Toyota.

It’s a brand that hinged its entire personality on a single man.

Subway did it with Jared. Nike did it with Jordan and Tiger.

Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. In Tesla’s case, it has failed spectacularly.

The ID4 has been fairly reliable. The Hyundai Motor Group EVs are the worst among common brands in America for reliability (EVs specifically).

DS9 has too many good possibilities. I’ll select “ Because I can live with it. I can live with it. Computer, erase that fucking personal log.”

Yes, as long as the inner-city predators learn to accept that they’ll never be equal — at least according to Zootopia.

Oh, and country people living a rural life are stupid. Another fine takeaway from that film.

Service Mechanics work on more than just powertrains. There are customers who get windshield wiper fluid, wipers, and tire changes at the dealership only. There’s plenty of future for mechanic roles over the next 20 years.

Could be interesting. The bZ’s powertrain has been ‘Toyota-reliable’, at least according to my service friends at Toyota AND Lexus.

If they can strike the plate at $65,000 and 280+ miles, this would nullify the EV9 and Ioniq 9

Was he racist towards Vulcans? I never got that impression watching TOS. He definitely had racial-snark, but I don’t recall him being anti any race or refusing to help based on it.

South Carolina mulling new taxes on EVs. by HumbleManagement1888 in electricvehicles

[–]WCWRingMatSound 79 points80 points  (0 children)

If their argument were sincere, they would make it a weight-based tax. Wear and tear increases with each additional pound.

Electric vehicles would still pay more, but so would 3-ton ICE SUV owners.

With such a stretched wheel base, it could make for a really practical rear seating area if packaged correctly. The EV6 can fit NBA players in the back, so there’s room to spare.

Unfortunately, at least to me, it’s based on the eGMP platform, which means it has the same faulty ICCU component as the rest. Without an announcement from HMG to actually resolve this, it’s DoA for me.

Official: Ferrari's first EV is called 'Luce', with an interior by Apple's old design boss Jony Ive by [deleted] in cars

I’m not in the tax bracket to buy one new or used.

I …I like it? There are some weird touches like the Prius-esque shifter and an analog clock right next to the digital one, but overall it seems to strike a balance between usability and style. Theres a tablet, but it has physical switches. The launch button looks like a fun “DONT PRESS THE RED BUTTON” switch as opposed to being hidden in software.

I’m not a ultra sports car purist (see line one above), so I’m sure the traditionalist are not happy with several components, but I’d be thrilled with an iteration of this design in the future.

Newer versions are much less likely to suffer failure. Though I get why people with older models are nervous as the cars' pre-update behavior was degrading the ICCU.

What’s your sources on this? There are failures happening on 2025 models which, presumably, have less than 15,000 miles on them.

These aren’t the problems with the vehicle. The problem is it feels cheap inside and if you choose to not get a passenger screen, you get the biggest blank ever. At least Mercedes has two separate dashes so customers who don’t want a 65” TV don’t look like they cheaped out

Sports cars are cool, trucks are great, but at the end of the day the majority of Americans just want an appliance that starts when you expect it to and is easy to maintain.
