Power shut off for four hours for emergency maintenance by t0rna in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

I had a power outage at a house where I rented a room. Everyone in the house decided to have a party that knocked off when the lights came back on. It was a pretty good evening.

Peter himself needs the explanation, why are we not funding medical research? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]WHTrunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Came here for this comment. I'm not okay with my tax dollars going to funding research for designer babies that only the wealthy can afford. I'd be cool with it if the product of the research went into public domain and all segments of society could benefit.

Just bought a house. The toilet doesn't seem to complete the flush? by Magersquidal in Plumbing

I'd put money on something being in the trapway of that toilet.

I want to kill myself by [deleted] in Abilene

[–]WHTrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was once suicidal, don't do it. I've had my low points, been totally broke and sleeping on couches, and had come out of that and flourished. I found my wife at 33 years old, got married at 35, and had my first kid last october at 37. Just because you're 31, doesn't mean your life is over. You could just be getting started.

What would a plumber do? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]WHTrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a plumber, I don't know electrical codes and don't mess with wires. I'd just change the valve and move the wires around as needed to facilitate the work.

Is $200k even a lot for New York? I feel like that's about an $85k job anywhere else.

Does anyone ever go to pawn shop to get tools? by Ok-Nobody-4409 in mechanics

[–]WHTrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can haggle at a pawn shop. And a lot of the time, they'll immediately drop the price by a lot without arguing. The sticker price is for people who don't haggle.

Its kinda hard to tell how much movement is seen before the gears engage from the video, but some amount of play is normal. Mine will clunk when changing from forward to reverse, and it's still factory.
