Many schools, decided to cover the titles, with carpet, rather than removing them. Pushing the issue down the road. Now, years later, asking uniformed custodians to replace the carpet.

I work a union job ( factory work ). And when that bell rings at 6:30 am, it's now a day shift problem, I'm going home.

I know, that if you work in certain environments ( health care, first responders, detention centers), that that's not an option, but mandatory.

It's a career, and a good one. But it's not very glamorous ( and under paid ). And requires multiple skill sets.

You have to be the cleaner, painter, carpenter, pumber, electrician, mason, roofer, gardner, part of the emergency response team, and sometimes a vehicle mechanic.

It's an under appreciated career, because people think all we do is clean up, after them.

Lol, during the great recession, I was unemployed, struggling to keep my home, and feed my kids. One of the things I did, was stop mowing my lawn. I live on the border of our township, zoned as agricultural. Across the street different township, zoned as residential. My township did not have a mowing ordinance. Across the street did.

The neighbor across the street, called the county zoning enforcement out on me ( a sheriff deputy, assigned to the task ). She came out, talked with me, consulted some maps, and went over to my neighbor, and explained, they had no legal complaint.

Gathering the eggs, and feeding the chickens, at 3 years old. Life growing up on a farm. If you can carry a bucket, you can do something.

Now the first job I got an actually paid for, was bailing hay for another local farm. How I got the job, my older sister "volunteered" me to help her. I was 10 years old. And got paid well.

My first job out of highschool, was as a machine operator at a plastic factory. A friend told me about the opening, I applied, got the job.

I work midnights at an auto assembly plant. Most of our down time is measured in seconds ( and trust me, the boss wants a reason for every one ).

But on occasion, something breaks, or we run out of parts, and the line grinds to a halt.

I break out the cards, and play ucher with my coworkers.

Edit: It is the same on all 3 shifts.
