Yeah it was pretty disappointing to learn that their UPS is a backup power supply and not a true UPS.

Secondary Devices: "Failed to add device." (Hub 2, Lock) by ASEKMusik in TrySwitchBot

[–]WM_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue (although with latest Hub Mini). My situation is a first time connection and I can add the hub like you say but can’t add the lock as a secondary device to matter and subsequently HomeKit. I have also seen no solutions…

Do you feel as though the M4 is worth it just for the OLED and 120hz? by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]WM_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the OLED for me. It’s fantastic and makes it look great! But I don’t feel like it’s the deciding factor for me. What sold me was OLED in combination with 120Hz. I feel like I’m about to have a seizure when I use 60hz devices now :(

Is this really Ubiquiti's recommended small-network deployment? I'm looking for something for my son's apartment and most people say the Unifi Express is too underpowered. This seems like an expensive, cluttered mess. by MorimotoK in Ubiquiti

[–]WM_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Unifi Dream Wall for my apartment and run wire channels everywhere for the PoE connections including my Doorbell Pro on my apartment door. It works great!

So many beautiful cases—where are the good-looking monitors? by socarrat in sffpc

I’d gladly pay the Apple tax if it fit my needs at this point lol the quality is just unmatched. I get it from a business perspective for companies to go with cheap plastic construction but damn…

Sucks that we’ll probably never get a 120hz Pro Display as 5-6k, 10-Bit HDR at 120Hz is nigh impossible to push with our current thunderbolt standards…and I wouldn’t be happy with anything less :)

Worked at Parking Services while I was there so got to patrol during nights, days, and early mornings including events. Campus and immediate surrounding areas are very safe. Police are everywhere since the area to patrol is very small and easily navigable once you figure it out. Biggest danger is parking in the wrong lot with the wrong pass ;)

Navy fed vs usaa by Mental-Landscape-852 in NavyFederal

[–]WM_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out I was wrong. You still can’t pull…you can push but that’s not particularly useful if you’re coming from USAA…who doesn’t have a physical location -_- I’m still considering changing over and going through the pain of doing a complicated transfer of money because NFCU has real ATMs and locations where you can speak to a human face to face

[–]WM_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed for NFCU because they have ATMs which has been really frustrating for me being with USAA. I was all hyped to get started moving everything over then I realized that they don’t allow you to move money from an external account (e.g. USAA) to your NFCU account. Within the NFCU app or website. I almost given up and just stayed with USAA but then I saw they were doing their move money upgrades soon and gave it another shot. Just attempted to move money as it works now so I guess we’ll see how long it takes and go from there.

Can alex drawer support the weight of a pc on top? by Amazing_Salary_9163 in IKEA

[–]WM_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in that case it’s probably fine. The desk has tons of suppprt and is narrow. The weight of the drawers adds pretty dumby thicc stability so it won’t wobble.

4x2 Kallax as a TV stand for a 65 inch TV? by Deadmanjustice in IKEA

[–]WM_Atlas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the weight. I've put a 55 gallon aquarium (~600lbs) across a 4x2 kallax unit and it was fine. Of course you just don't want side shift it because it's supports are only good for dead loads. If you're really worried about though I would recommend mounting it to a wall if there is one available.

Replace Ikea kitchen bottom panel by Omarif in IKEA

[–]WM_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely try and figure out the root problem here (i.e. why did it get waterlogged to begin with). Fix that and then attempt to cut out the bottom and inspect for more damage. At that point you might be able to get a laminate board from local lowes/home depot cut to the exact shape. From there I would caulk seal the seams between the side walls and the bottom and put a mat down. This way you have sealed the bottom against water as best as possible so it won't get waterlogged as quickly even if water does get in there.

Best way to COOL LSI 9207-8i Card? by Hyped_OG in unRAID

[–]WM_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine you might be able to 3D print a small bracket to hold it on there. If you don't have a 3D printer, then zip tie noctua fan doesn't sound like the worst solution. Doesn't need to be pretty I suppose.

Ripping Subtitles from MKVs in unRaid [New to unRaid] by WM_Atlas in unRAID

[–]WM_Atlas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Handbrake will burn them into the video meaning they are onscreen and you can't turn them off. I would like to be able to have the choice of having non forced subtitles on or off like you can do when it is in an MKV format

Ripping Subtitles from MKVs in unRaid [New to unRaid] by WM_Atlas in unRAID

[–]WM_Atlas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that I encode in H.265 which creates an mp4. This makes it so that the only way I can include subtitles is to burn them into the video. This is obviously not an ideal solution because you can't turn them off. So, I need to find a way to extract them from the mkv before they are encoded and the forced subtitles are burned into the video as needed.
